Stopped cause they were on the Indie map and I was in the area. Great book store with an amazing selection! I'm a lover of local history and they had a ton to choose from!! Bought two books, some stickers and a list of books I still want lol!! Finally bought a book that I had on loan from the library for 3 months lol! I highly recommend it 👌

This bookstore was wonderful! We visited from out of town and the inventory was incredible - jam packed with books of all kinds. The woman working was very friendly and suggested several books related to what I was buying that I've added to my future purchase list. You can tell the bookstore is run with care. I definitely recommend stopping in!

A lovely indie bookstore with a great selection of local gifts and authors. Alan has the best SFF recommendations and took the time to ask about what I liked and didn't like to find some gems for me!

Excellent service. Called to inquire about getting a signed book as I was unable to be there when author was. Sales person, I WISH I could remember her name... was wonderful. Assured me she could get one signed for me and mail it. She got my info for mailing and payment lickety split and book arrived when expected. Smooth transaction... refreshing...

Where else can you pursue multiple facets of joy & pain in the written word, ignoring the fall (& spring) of civilization, while picking up a tome about the actual "fall of civilization" with a purchase that supports a worthy & true small business -- which ultimately buoys civil lives & our own sociological maturation.

They have a fantastic selection and friendly service! The staff are very knowledgeable and can provide recommendations based on your favorite books, or guide you through new releases. My book requests have always arrived within a few days. Warm atmosphere with "classic bookstore" feeling. The perfect environment for a book lover!

What a delightful bookstore! The atmosphere of the small shop was enchanting. The helpful staff was kind and patient as the friendly regular customers stop to buy books. Great selection of Iowa authors.

I am not from here but heard at another indie bookshop that Beaverdale is an “institution.” I can see why. Had a lovely chat with the owner and they had the book I wanted (and I got another one besides). I am also a longtime bookseller. Love the vibe in this shop.

Just walking through the door of Beaverdale Books will make you feel at ease. It looks exactly how you picture the cozy bookstores in your favorite novels. Along with all the usual sections you want in a bookstore, they have a really cool selection of Iowa authors that I love browsing if I'm looking for something new! If you want something that's not on the shelves, you can request to order a book for pickup. It's really the best.

Went in for our first time during Indi Bookstore Day. It had a nice layout of the books so that they were easy to find. Staff were super friendly and seemed fun. Would definitely go again.

Very nice independent book store. It's very rewarding to support local and independent book stores. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I look forward to going to an event on Saturday May 6th for Children's Book Week. Be sure to mark your calendar and make an appearance May 6th.

A Five Star book store for sure with a great selection from best sellers to literary classics to a variety of great local authors. Definitely take a look at "Iowa Trouble" and several other titles that can be found at the annual Windsor Heights Book Fair on the first Sunday of October.

Wonderful independent bookstore! It had the entire series of a popular kids book my son (age10) has been unable to find at the big box stores. He was over the moon to buy the remaining 3 volumes to complete his set! Unique and locally made gifts reasonably priced. Friendly, engaging and helpful staff. Hosts book signings and events. Definitely worth a visit! Thanks for a FUNtastic experience! We'll be back

Beaverdale Books is a sweet little book store in the heart of one of the best neighborhoods in Des Moines. The selection is thorough, the staff well-read, and they are constantly involved with the community. Add to that the frequent author events, and it is a cannot miss stop for bibliophiles looking to buy local.

I had to ask them for some orders to send to the USA because I'm in Europe, and they were very attentive, kind and patient. They looked for the books I asked for and sent them as quickly as possible. When I chose them I knew that I would not be wrong and I did not. Beaverdale Books is more than recommended, I am very grateful to them and I encourage everyone to buy them books, even if they do not live in that city, they will help you the same. Thanks a lot for your patience, guys.

I love this local bookstore! They have fabulous customer service and great response time when ordering. If they don’t have a book in stock, they will do their best to find it & get it quickly. I have done so many orders throughout the pandemic & have really appreciated their quick & efficient curbside pick up.
