One of my favorite spots in the metro! Their wood-fired pizza is amazing (I love #14 & 15) as well as their lemon ricotta pancakes and shakshouka. They make a pretty good vanilla latte too!

I came here thinking I’d get a late lunch but I was pleasantly surprised that they ha. 3pm! With that came bottomless mimosas at just $16.99!! The place has a very rustic ambiance and wasn’t too loud either. It has booths, high top tables and regular tables, so an option for everyone. The menu is vast and has a ton of vegetarian options, which was great. I ordered spicy potato bravas which were the right amount of spicy, right there in the middle. The quantity is not excessive and perfect for a 1 person appetizer. As an entree I ordered an asparagus and sweet corn grain bowl. Let me tell you, the presentation was exquisite. I chose the egg option and the eggs were perfectly poached and over easy. I loved my experience and the service is absolutely outstanding. At the last minute I decided to order a strawberry pot de creme to top off my meal, absolutely amazing!!

Very, very good pizza. If you get there after 3 p.m. the menu is much more interesting, but lunch is great. During happy hour pizza is half price. During dinner hours, they have a 3 "oven appetizers" thing for $16. How good can cooked carrots be? Pretty effing great actually. We usually split a 3 app thing & a pizza.

The best pizza I have ever had in my life. This place is amazing, the atmosphere is so nice. The price is very good if you consider the quality of the food and the service. For sure I will come back.

This place is amazing. I agree that there are some mediteranian influences. It is also an eclectic menu. It was really good food. The staff were friendly. It is located in an area where you can easily access things to do afterward. Grey's Lake hike, Caribou Coffee, down the road within walking distance, Des Moines Art Center, Salisbury House, all fairly close. Photos are Butternut Squash Soup and Beet Salad. It was very beautifully seasoned. Soup had a nice paprika oil on top to give it extra smokiness. It was still light, not too spicy but interesting, more complex.

Ben, one of the bartenders, is one of the best people I’ve ever met! He is so personable and kind! He helped me through the entire menu and answered any questions I had! It was such a delightful experience being helped by Ben!!! Ashley the server was so great as well and made the experience come together and made it altogether a great time! Food was absolutely amazing as we went with the suggestions Ashley gave us! Come to Eatery A if you want a classy, tasty dinner. Thank you!!

Best restaurant in Des Moines - cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Also the best happy hour in town!

We went for their happy hour and to sit on the patio, which never disappoints. Half-price pizza and bottles of wine was what we were after, and they didn't disappoint! We also had the meatballs and carpacciao but were too hungry to remember to take a picture. It's one of the best deals in town 💯.

Sure.
To have a 5 stars scale for judging Davide Oldani in the same universe as Andy Sayre (the head chef), it's impossible.

But Eatery A was a total surprise.

First, they are open until midnight and *they serve food up to 11.30 pm*.
(The waitress told me actually 11.45pm, but we try not to be annoying here).

The dishes I tried were exceptionally good.
And I'm not talking "Midwest good" here.
I'm seriously speaking great balances.
Fresh, nothing overpowering, well created.

I had the moroccan carrots with mint chimichurri, harissa, feta;
The saffron aioli, paprika dust, tomato calamari;
The bacon wrapped dates with red pepper coulis, chorizo, and flatbread;
And the salted caramel budino with dark chocolate crumble, caramel.

I was so excited that I ever ordered an espresso.
Fine.
That was indeed too much to ask, but, truly.
I'm impressed.

Bonus: the patio is super lovely.

Great local spot in the neighborhood. Popped during right before dinner and my party was seated immediately. The atmosphere was very casual and cozy. I got brussel sprouts, pizza, a coffee, and a shareable dessert. The food was really good and portions were filling. I really enjoyed this place!

This restaurant has a lot of parking and is walkable to the neighborhood close by. I ended up paying about $30, with tip, for all of my dishes.

I was hesitating about giving this place a 4 or 5, and ended up deciding on 5 due to its balance between quality and affordability. Based on food alone, I would resort to a 4. Don't get me wrong. A lot of things are perfect! The salmon lox toasts, the seasonal fruit, the hummus and pita, the chilaquiles verde, the grilled cheese sandwiches, etc. are all just well done for one to enjoy a comfy brunch! The areas of improvement are relevant to the shrimp & grits, the lavender crème brûlée, the lamb gyro sandwich, and the shakshuka. I think the shrimp & grits had really salty shrimp and the grits were slightly overcooked. The lavender crème brûlée was very liquidy, so I was thinking maybe there was too much heavy cream and not enough egg yolks, and part of the sugar on the top was under the torch for too long causing it to turn really black and glass-like in texture while the rest of the top was not burnt. The lamb gyro sandwich had perfect inside, but I think the outside could use smaller pita bread, maybe cutting the pita in half, true to the amount of the gyro. And almost everything was perfect for the shakshuka, but the egg was overcooked and the yolk was already solid instead of liquid. If you are reading up until this point, then you can see that I am being nitpicky and that is because I cook most of those things at home, too. But that is by no means a denial of how good everything is in general. The bottomless mimosa, by the way, was a real plus, and our server was very attentive to continuously pouring me more mimosa even if I wasn't finishing my glass yet. I am giving this place a 5 star because for the food quality it has, which is already greater than most, it is very affordable, and has a considerable amount of food to allow one to be full, especially if one chooses hummus and pita to be the side. Again, I know I have predominantly written constructive comments rather than positive praises for the food, but please understand that I praise everything by default already, and I see the restaurant Management reading people's comments, so I hope what I have said can help make this an even stronger 5-star establishment! And I strongly recommend whoever is in Des Moines to give this place a visit!

Half price pizza and drafts. How can you go wrong. Mine was the number 10, lots of protein and some hot honey. Wonderful food and service.

I'm not 100% sure if it's true Neapolitan style pizza, but it's the best pizza I've ever had. I love margherita pizza and I had them add extra garlic. I also had the #10 (Italian meats, hot honey etc) they were awesome. It was hard to tell you which one was better. I think when you get a piece of the best tasting roma tomato on the margherita pizza, that's the best bite possible. However, judging the whole slice I think the number 10, with the sweet and meaty throughout wins.

Perhaps if they had more slices of tomatoes on the margherita I'd pick that one overall?

Perhaps if they added tomatoes to the number 10!?

The staff was fun and the place was energetic. I hope they do well because I'll want to go back if I visit Des Moines again.

Side note: I got the tapas 3 for $16. Carrots were best, then brussel sprouts, then warm olives. I liked the warm olives it's just that they had pits so it was a chore to eat all of them, even tho they tasted amazing.

Edit: went back again it was awesome again. This time I got a number 15 added chicken. It was so good.

Absolutely love Eatery A especially during Happy Hour. You cannot beat the prices for a fun place to go and get tasty food and quality local beers. Try the breakfast pizza, you won’t be disappointed.
Also, bathrooms are clean and a great place to snap a selfie to let your followers on the gram know you’re eating good pizza.

Eatery A is a great restaurant! It is really a super experience for anyone looking for a good bite with friends.

The food is amazing! I ordered the Nutella French Toast (pictured below) and it was awesome! It really was a tasty meal that I would 100% have again.

The service was great as well! The waitress we had at our table was kind and attentive to our needs and we received our food relatively quickly.

The atmosphere was good. The whole place was decorated well and the ambience was on point.

Overall, Eatery A was an amazing experience, and I'd 100% recommend eating here if you're in the area.

Eatery A has become a staple in my Des Moines lunch and entertaining rotation. We love the atmosphere, the food, the happy hour specials, and the service is always great and accommodating. They have a perfect porch when the weather cooperates. The only downside is that parking is often difficult to find, but that's more a function of the location on Ingersoll Ave than anything.

Highly recommend the pizza selection and the hummus but really I haven't had anything that isn't delicious. Oh, and did I mention the happy hour drink and food specials are a great deal? 👍

Highly recommend.

The food was amazing. We tried a little bit of everything (not all are pictured), the waiter was very nice, and everything came out quick despite it being really busy. The only thing was it's a little darker where they seated us compared to other spots.

Amazing Food. Next level service. I would HIGHLY suggest the Lemon ricotta pancakes or the Nutella french toast! However, the Eatery's omlette is equally amazing and should be tried. Drinks were really well done. The food is fantastic and filling. And the deserts were terrific.

Great place all around, over, and under!! Great food, the pizza is phenomenal! Got a half order of the #10 and a half order of the #5 and a bottle of Brut from South Africa, and it was an all out taste bud expeience! The flavors went very well together! Your taste buds will be delighted, trust! It was during happy hour and it cost us as much as one would spend at fast food! Do try!!

Best pizza I've had in town. The hummus is perfect, which is rare. We had a reservation and were seated very quickly. It was very crowded so I don't think it would have been good to show up without a reservation. Everything was super delicious, and the service was excellent. It is now on our list! We will be back regularly!
