LET ME TALK TO YA YEAAAAAHHHHHH !!!!!!!!
THIS RESTAURANT IS 100% THE BEST PLACE I'VE BEEN TO EVER IN IOWA! AND I HAVE TO SAY......... THAT APPLE CARAMEL CIDER MARTINI OMGGGGGGGGG THAT DRINK SHOULD NEVER EVER LEAVE THE MENU. . 🥰🥰🥰😊😊😊😘😘😍🤩🥳 Secondly my Alfredo was so good, creamy, and authentic, I got mines with the bacon and mushrooms, the garlic bread so delicious, soft and very full flavored "sheesh"🥰 my baby my man ordered that NY STYLE STRIP STEAK MEDIUM RARE, WITH ASPARAGUS WITH THE DE BURGO BUTTER AND IT MADE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! TASTE SO MUCH BETTER. HIS CHOICE OF ALCOHOL WAS THE FALL MULE, I TRIED A SIP AND SAID IT NEEDS A LITTLE BIT MORE GINGER AND LIME, BECAUSE THE ORANGE DEFINITELY STOOD OUT MORE THAN ANYTHING. BUT AGAIN!!!!! YOU MUST TRY THAT CARAMEL CIDER MARTINI IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING !!!!!!!!!! AND IS MY FAVORITE!!!! Outside details plenty of parking spaces,( free parking) wheel chair Accessible, conveniently next to gas station as well. BUT LET ME STOP TALKING I gotta let the photos talk for itself. 😊🥳😍🥰

oh update THAT CHEESE CAKE SO FREGGN GOOD AND RICH.
THE SANDWICHES ARE OKAY FOR LUNCH BUT DINNER IS WAYY BETTER 😋😋😋

In the tranquil West Des Moines suburbs on Grand Ave, a once great restaurant has returned to its former glory, and dare I say, it's even better than before. Maxie's Supper Club is a delightful testament to culinary excellence, offering a refined and elegant dining experience that sets it apart from the crowd.

To begin our culinary journey, I savored a side salad with creamy parmesan dressing, a perfect prelude to the exquisite meal that awaited. The freshness of the greens was a testament to Maxie's commitment to quality, but it was the house-made creamy parmesan dressing that truly shone. Its rich and velvety texture, with hints of nutty parmesan, elevated the salad to a level of sophistication that instantly set the tone for the evening.

The stuffed mushrooms appetizer that followed was a revelation. A harmonious blend of caramelized onions, herbed Boursin cheese, and melted mozzarella, it arrived at the table with an intoxicating aroma that left no doubt about the exploration of taste we were embarking on. The caramelized onions added a subtle sweetness that beautifully balanced the richness of the cheese, while the mozzarella provided a luscious, melty finish. Each bite was a symphony of flavors and textures, leaving us eagerly anticipating the main course.

The pièce de résistance, the medium-rare prime rib dinner, was a carnivore's dream come true. Cooked to perfection, each slice of prime rib was tender and succulent, a testament to the chef's expertise. Served alongside a baked potato and asparagus, the dish was a well-rounded symphony of flavors. The baked potato, adorned with butter, offered a comforting complement to the rich meat, while the asparagus added a refreshing touch. The creamy horseradish sauce, with its zesty kick, enhanced the prime rib's flavor profile, elevating the dish to an unforgettable crescendo of taste.

Continuing our culinary odyssey, the baked 8oz Canadian salmon arrived, bathed in citrus herb compound butter. Served with asparagus and mashed potatoes, it was reminiscent of the comfort food Grandma used to make. The salmon was a testament to Maxie's dedication to quality seafood, perfectly flaky and infused with the bright citrus herb compound butter. The asparagus retained its crispness, and the mashed potatoes were a nostalgic delight, reminiscent of a cherished family recipe.

For dessert, we indulged in the coconut cake, a moist white confection adorned with buttercream icing and topped with fresh coconut flakes. The cake's delicate crumb and the luscious icing harmonized beautifully, while the coconut flakes provided a delightful contrast in texture and flavor.

Finally, the turtle cheesecake concluded our evening on a high note. This rich and creamy cheesecake, with its caramel and chocolate butter glaze, was a decadent treat for the senses. The interplay of sweet caramel and velvety chocolate enveloped the palate, leaving a lingering, indulgent memory.

Throughout our meal, the service at Maxie's Supper Club was exemplary, marked by attentiveness and efficiency that added to the overall dining pleasure. The quiet and comfortable environment allowed for intimate conversation and an unhurried, enjoyable dining experience.

In conclusion, Maxie's Supper Club has indeed returned to its former glory and then some. This establishment offers an experience that transcends the ordinary, celebrating the art of gastronomy with finesse and flair. From the meticulous attention to detail in each dish to the exemplary service and serene ambiance, Maxie's Supper Club is a culinary gem worth savoring. It's a testament to the enduring allure of classic dining, reinvented for today's discerning palate.

Picking someplace “between home and the airport” is always a challenge for us. We had a little extra time so Maxie’s it was. Although now I want to try about 8 more items so can’t wait for our return soon!

I was saying in the car, on the way there and looking at the menu online, that I wished more places had a steak salad, satisfying my red meat and vegetable cravings. Unfortunately, we ordered before I saw the specials menu that had a delicious sounding steak salad. Server said it’s been so popular they may put it on their regular menu. So I’ll have to go back for this and other items.

🥩 Ribeye w/ baked potato, salad (with the GOOD ranch) and a side of onion rings (all included with the ribeye). Can’t comment on the potato, I didn’t eat it. Onion rings are popular here but I like thicker ones, so I didn’t really eat most of mine; tried one and liked the batter though. Steak was grilled perfectly med-rare, seasoning delicious.

🥪 French Dip was also delicious, loved the salty au jus and, of course, we had more onion rings. Plentiful on the meat, roll was perfect for dipping, loved this French Dip!

🍄 Boursin Mushrooms were added to our meal last minute because we saw them on the specialty menu after placing our order. They were delicious. Different than other places, this had a layer of melted cheese but it was still good. I like Club Car’s better but I’m still glad we got these.

💁‍♀Service was prompt and helpful. Knowing we were in a little bit of a hurry, she brought out our food altogether w/ our check.

About the only complaint we had was that our iced tea was watered down. Nothing major and not really important, and was so overlooked because everything else was outstanding.

Can’t wait to go back with a larger group, soon!!

Stumbled across Maxie's about 7pm on a Tuesday evening...they close at 8pm. The dining room had a party of 20, the bar/lounge only had 2 other couples eating and was very homey and relaxing. Our waitress gave us a heads up that the large party would be ordering and asked if we wanted our order in before theirs...yes, please! We ordered the Chicken Parm sandwich and Steak. (Hot Beef with mashed potatoes was the original ask but they were out ..however our waitress said she'd highly recommend ordering that next time we come back as it's very good and a hearty portion!) All sandwiches come with their famous "Onion Rings". I'm not generally a fan of onion strings they tend to be too salty for me but these were not, I was pleasantly surprised. The fries were crispy and shoestring thickness. My chicken Parm sandwich (with house made sauce) was amazing....it was the juiciest chicken I have had from a restaurant in a while. The house made red sauce was great, even my boyfriend agreed...next time we return we are definitely ordering pasta (and hot beef with mashed potatoes)! The steak was cooked medium rare as requested and had a very nice flavoring. Overall a great pick, check them out!

Old school supper club, with a great lineage. We had shrimp and fettuccine, and citrus salmon. Both phenomenal. But then came the Coconut Cake. I forgot had forgotten how much I love Coconut. Plus the piece was the size of the Titanic's bow! Get going and get there!!

The food is good. The quality of my salad was great, fresh lettuce and veggies and the chicken breast was cooked perfectly. The onion rings did not disappoint. Get here while you can we were told they are closing their doors in February 2023. It's been here a long time but the owners are retiring I think.

The food at Maxie's was excellent! Our order came fast and it was very fresh and very hot. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She took our order right away and kept stopping by our table to make sure we had everything we needed and refilled our drink orders multiple times. We'll definitely be going back!

The last time I visited Maxie's they were still at the original location on Ingersoll. That must have been the early 1970s. Decided to try them out tonight. now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. We pretty much had the place to ourselves probably because of the weather.
Ordered the combination breaded veggies ; onion rings, breaded mushrooms, fried pickles & fried green beans. All were hot, crisp and perfectly seasoned.
Dinner was a Rarebit burger and the white cheddar bacon jam Burger. Both burgers were prepared exactly as ordered. all of that plus a couple of glasses of half priced house wine and expert service made for a surprisingly awesome evening. Maxie's will definitely be a place we will visit often from now on.

Absolutely loved Maxie’s! I got the steak salad special (amazing vinegarette dressing!) and my husband got the ribeye - both were phenomenal in meeting our craving for a good night with great food. But I am SO thankful we saved room for dessert too, because the coconut cake stole the show (for me at least!). Overall, Maxie’s is a terrific supper club experience!
