This was a small but very nice place. The food was fantastic, the owners are very friendly, & the dining area was very clean. I got the garlic chicken with fried rice & a spring roll while my wife got sweet & sour chicken with steamed rice, everything tasted great & came nice & hot. We're already looking forward to our next time here!

Awesome little locally owned gem in Altoona! Finally found a great Korean restaurant in Central Iowa! Owners were extremely nice & welcoming, they made me feel like I was a regular even though it was my first time trying it out. Food was great as well. Definitely worth checking out.

Are you kidding??? This is exactly what I was looking for. Asian Fusion at it's finest! Chinese, Japanese, or Korean...all perfect. And the Sapporo beer was super cold. Couldn't be happier.

Our server suggested the pot stickers and they did not disappoint! They were fresh and hot and served with both chili sauce and sweet and sour sauce. We also had the chicken lo mein and drunken chicken and both were excellent. Our server was helpful and friendly. We’ll be back!

Nomis is simply amazing all the way around! We are from Runnells so anytime we are in town, we like to stop here.
The food is made fresh for every order! We have not had anything we havnt loved!
The owners are SO personable and genuine.
One time my family (of 5) went and our adult entrées came out before the kids' meals only by about 5 min. No big deal and the owner ended up taking the kids' meals off our ticket because he felt bad. So we made sure to give him extra for a tip.
Its the little things! Love everything about Nomi's Asian Cuisine!

We will be back! My husband had the Cashew Chicken and I had the Mongolian Beef and they were both delicious and exceeded our expectations. The sweet and sour sauce is homemade and it is by far the best sweet and sour sauce I have ever had. The service was exceptional. We had our 1 year old daughter with us and going out to eat isn't always a pleasant experience, but the service was quick and the staff were very friendly and accommodating! We highly recommend this place. We can't wait to go back :)

I always forget to take pictures of my food, which I why I haven’t reviewed yet, but here we go.
My entire family loves Nomi’s- we usually get 4-5 entrees and we split them up and share.
The sauces on the chicken are out of this world, my personal favorite is the teriyaki, but we also love the sesame, orange, and sweet and sour. The orange chicken sauce is such a different take than our typical that we are used to. It’s a refreshing and light flavor, my oldest son could eat an entire adult portion to himself. The teriyaki is soooo rich and delicious, I could eat it on everything.
My husband really enjoys the lightness of the beef and vegetables as he prefers less sauce.
The crab rangoons- we have to get two orders of, or else our kids won’t leave any for us, THEY ARE THE BEST, and the sweet and sour sauce again, is just so damn good.

Even though the meals take a little longer to get out than many other Asian restaurants, the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is great. It's a very casual environment, great place to enjoy an appetizer sampler and have conversation with family or friends. I had the bulgogi, and added some of the pepper sauce they give you with the appetizer sampler. It was a great amount of flavor and spice. The white rice is perfectly cooked.

Just moved to the area and have been trying different places, this is by far the best as far as an Asian Cousine, they have a lot of Korean choices on the menu and make their kimchi in house. We had the veggie lo mein and the stir fried rice with kimchi which also had some nice pieces of pork, the serving sizes are spot on for the price. The waitress was pleasant and attentive which is more then I can say for other places in the area, by far our waitress was the absolutely best service I have had since I moved here, and my mother who ate with my who has lived here most of her life agreed. We had the sampler platter which is probably a little pricey for a 2 person plate but everything was spot on and had great flavor and seasoning.

All in all it was a great experience with the personal touch of the owner talking to us about how his wife does all the cooking, and how they have only been in their location between Hyvee on 8th and Pizza Ranch for 3 months. Very personable and made the experience memorable.

We will absolutely go back and try other dishes.

Honestly having read through some of the other reviews I would encourage people who went right when they opened to give them another chance. Frankly I have no idea where the people saying portions where small for the price are coming from. Clearly some folks have no idea what a proper portion is for the price if you ask me. I was more then full at the end and I am a big guy.

Outstanding food! I had the bulgogi, which was great. We also had the appetizer platter and the crab Rangoon and egg rolls were tops. Nomi and Steve have a splendid restaurant and I can't wait to get back to try more entrees!

Went on a cool, summer Saturday night at 730-ish. Not a ton of people there. Very quiet, two TVs muted, one on HGTV and the other on MTV.

We started with appetizers, Crab Rangoons (4 in an order) and the Pork Dumplings. Both were outstanding. The sauce for the Crab Rangoons was sweet, thick, a little bit of a tang, cinnamon, and deliciousness.

The dumplings were different than any I've had, but in a good way. Instead of steamed or pan fried, they were perfectly deep-fried; crispy pillows, puffy with the pork filling rolling around loose inside with a bit of the liquid trapped inside (careful with that, it's HOT.)

My wife ordered the Drunken Noodles, which she was able to substitute shrimp for the chicken. She really seemed to enjoy it.

I had the General Tso's Chicken, the dish I use to judge Asian restaurants (Nomi is actually Korean.) The sauce was perfect, if maybe a little bit on the spicy side. The chicken was crispy, just the way I prefer it. The vegetables (carrots, onions, and celery) were lightly cooked with a pleasant crunch. My only complaints are that I don't like cooked celery (so I didn't eat it, no biggie) and that there wasn't enough to bring home for leftovers.

They have takeout, but no delivery.
