Waveland Cafe

This place is always phenomenal. They're usually packed so we go during odd hours. We went around 12:30pm today and grabbed some seats at the bar. Once you sit down service is pretty fast. My go-to is Steak and Eggs! Everything is always cooked exactly the way I ask. The hash browns are always super crispy! Today I got a biscuit instead of toast and ordered an extra side of the gravy. YUM!!! There was so much food but I enjoyed every bite! I've only had breakfast food here. I'm sure their lunch dishes are just as good. Highly recommend!

The Waveland Cafe is a true classic. LOL, glad we finally found a breakfast time we could slide right in (no wait). Normally it’s jam packed, like it’s starting to get. Anyway, the food is always awesome and was once again today (props to the kitchen). The staff, always working hard and super friendly. If you’re in the area, it’s a MUST STOP!!!

This is what a breakfast cafe should be. When you walk in you are greeted with that warm worn in feeling you want in a cafe that has been around for awhile. Hashbrowns usually are a metering stick to how well the brekfast food is and they are high up on the meter. Large serving of great hashbrowns. I had the make your own omelet and it did not disappoint. They have a wall of coffee cups that the regulars bring in and leave.

Traditional breakfast items served perfectly. The ambiance is reminiscent of breakfast cafes from movies and TV, bustling but with incredible service and food. It's sure to become a regular spot for me.

It's your basic local diner that serves decent breakfast, gets you in and out quickly and is a dependable go-to in times of a need for quick, decent meal.

The coffee is hot, the pancakes are quite good, and the bacon and eggs are exactly what you expect them to be.

This is a no frills place. It's old and there is no trendy decor--just a good meal served quick and hot.

Friends met up here for lunch. I ordered the half portion of a hot beef sandwich...nothing better than homemade potatoes and real gravy. It all was good. Couple friends loved their sandwiches, saying the bread was delicious. Had a nice server. Will be back. Just remember they close at 2:00 pm, so best to get there early. They serve both breakfast and lunch. Will be back, lots more to try!

Just a classic, old-school diner/cafe experience. Food was terrific, service was excellent. Been trying to get here for quite a while and it's always pretty busy. Finally took advantage of a day off from work to get here on a weekday when it was less busy.

Will definitely be back when we get the chance!!

Great place for breakfast and lunch. This is not a place for large groups so don't expect to get a big table.

Great local place with charm and character. Always busy so be prepared to wait a little. Servers were quick, and the food was fresh and tasty.

Really warm and comfy atmosphere. The dine in can’t fit up to 45 people. Plenty of space but when it’s the rush hour, you might have to come in early as there will be a line. Trust me, the food is worth the wait :)

The food being serve here are delicious (specially for the affordable price), you have to try out their Waveland’s beat skillet! It’s delicious and well season! It’s a decent size for one person serving but not to worry cause you can always order anything you want in the menu half the size. My favorite food here is their hash brown, it’s golden brown crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle, super delicious !

There limit parking on the front of the dine in but you can park on the street. It’s usually a very short walk to the restaurant.

It’s a family friendly restaurant and the waitresses here are super friendly and sweet. If you have any questions at all they will have the answer waiting for you. They serve they food hot and fast! If you’re hungry, there won’t be a long wait right after placing your order.

Simply the best. There are reasons why there's a line out the door almost every day. The food, the staff, the hometown feel when you come here. Its Why celebrities come back again and again for the Best Breakfast in Des Moines and Central Iowa!

I’ve been going here for over a decade and it’s a staple of Des Moines. The service and food are always amazing and extremely consistent. I can’t recommend more highly when it comes to a solid breakfast! And don’t worry if there’s a line it moves pretty quick. It’s always first come first serve so don’t try calling ahead. And a tip for those who like a Bloody Mary with their breakfast you can sit at the bar next-door and order from there!

One of My favorite breakfast spot. Good food and very diner feel. I still dream of running into Jason Mamoa while eating my corned beef hash but until then I'll just enjoy a good breakfast. Definitely go to👌

This is an awesome place for breakfast. Waveland has been around forever and is family owned and operated. Easily the best hash browns in Des Moines! Get here early to avoid a wait!

One of my favorite places for breakfast or a sandwich. Casual and great food. The waitresses are always having fun and are happy to include their customers. I always walk out happy and full.

Family-style, lively atmosphere. Awesome hashbrowns, biscuits n gravy, and omelettes. All the servers are upbeat, accomodating, and personable! I love to come here for breakfast!
