The Republic on Grand

We had the best time at Republic in Grand. We went for Valentine’s and enjoyed all the food and dessert. My husband started out with their deviled eggs as an appetizer and said they were great. He got their meatloaf for his entree and he loved it. I got the Feb. heart shaped ravioli and absolutely loved it I anted to eat the whole plate but knew I was saving room for the desserts. I wanted all the desserts so tried the dessert board with so many desserts and they were all so yummy! The drink I got was the isn’t she lovely and I would have liked it a little sweeter but it was ok. I also got a glass of wine they were out of Moscato so our server suggested a dessert wine and she said if I didn’t like it she could get me something else, but it was a great wine. Overall it was a wonderful time.

This is a beautiful restaurant with great views! Great date “experience”. Parking is the only downfall if I’m being honest, however, there is a parking garage almost across the street ($1 per hour) that was very convenient. The appetizers were delicious and our waitress was very attentive. Highly recommend!

Excellent views, service, food, and drink! They have one half that's open with great views of the city. Located on the 6th floor. Parking was easy. Here on a work trip. We came here every night for a final. Highly recommend.

Amazing service and wonderful atmosphere! The staff is so kind and the drinks were great! A good view too, would recommend :) and got a yummy birthday dessert on the house!

Fabulous little rooftop!! Popped in tonight right before last call. Brandon, our server, was AWESOME!!! In fact, all the staff we spoke to were very welcoming even thought they were about to close. The drinks tasted great and not skimpy on the liquor. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!!!

Always a great place for either a casual hangout with friends or a nice dinner! Chef Sean Clemons was very nice and personable and came to our table to give us a free dessert that will be on the menu soon. He stopped and chatted with us about new things they are starting to implement in the restaurant as well as where they get inspirations from. Great place for dinner or a drink anytime of the day!

I love this place. I moved from Chicago and found it difficult to find a place that was casual, but also had high quality food. The Republic nailed it with the food, drinks, and service! The Sous Chef, Sean Clemons came out to our table and offered us a free dessert (which was fantastic), while telling us about their new menu. The price for the quality is definitely worth it and the venue is one of the best in Des Moines.

We loved the the charcuterie board, and the ahi tuna dish for the group, it was a Saturday night and the place was busy, but our server Zach went above and beyond for us. He showed our group a really great time. We loved the atmosphere of the place too.

Stopped in for a few drinks on a Saturday afternoon. They weren't too busy, we sat at the bar and had a bartender come right over to us. Drinks were amazing, the staff was very friendly. Will definitely return and recommend to others.

Neat spot up on the 6th floor of the hotel. Has nice views of different directions around the city, particularly nice at sunset. They have a patio that is open when it’s nice out, and enclosed with heaters when it’s cooler. Cocktails are well prepared, and although we haven’t tried them, the small plates looked good.

We love this place for a date night! The views are wonderful and the vibes are chill! Whether it is a pregame or the end of your night, this is a stop you should make. Don't forget to get there before their food stops being served, it is amazing!

Food was great, the chef was accommodating and the atmosphere was relaxing, with good music. The waitress was super friendly but did not check on our needs often one thing I would say is maybe offer mid level seating for those who are handicap. The furniture is low and the high tops are hard to get into.

I love this place. I stay at the AC Hotel every time I come to Des Moines, and a big part of it is the Republic. It’s slways a welcoming place with a wonderful staff, great drinks & great food, with a menu that grows slightly every time I’m there.

But have to be a little specific here:

Everyone who works here is really good, but Trent is the key. I walk in after having been away for two months, and he immediately smiles and says “an Albariño?” Not only does he remember my drink, he remembers what brings me to Des Moines, he knows the stories that would interest me, he knows I’m a hiker and asks where I’ve been exploring. This guy is a bar genius. When I leave Des Moines, I go away knowing that I’ll be sincerely welcomed back on my return, and that is worth gold these days.

Great view! Great craft cocktails and wine flights! The cheese board is a girl’s night out & date night favorite! When we want to unwind in the east village- we love Republic on Grand!

I lived in Des Moines for about 9 months and came here 3 or 4 times even though I had a goal of trying a new restaurant every time I went out. That's how you know it was good. You've got a beautiful rooftop view of East Village, impeccable service, great cocktails, and the apps are delicious!!! Definitely everyone's favorite place for a pre-game or a chill night of drinks and chatter.

It's always a great time at the Republic! Everything from the cocktails, the food, the staff, to the atmosphere, a big 10/10. Plus a perfect rooftop view of DSM. A must visit!

My husband and I decided to check out the rooftop last night. Our bartender Mikayla D was absolutely amazing. She provided us with hands down some of the best service we’ve ever received. Not only is she absolutely stunning but she was so kind, and very knowledgeable about all the cocktails, and food options. She made our date night a fantastic one. Thank you Mikayla for loving what you do. The world needs more service industry workers like you. We will definitely be back to see her soon.

Rockstar staff, superb drinks, excellent food. We stayed at the AC Marriott for 4 nights and enjoyed The Republic each evening. Sometimes it was for dinner, a pit stop for a drink before dinner, or a nightcap. Service was stellar each time. Flatbreads, desserts, and pasta were divine. The drinks stole the show. Highly recommend the Grandview!! Will definitely return when back in town.

Zach did an excellent job. Food was amazing. I had the Shrimp gnocchi. Wine selection could have been broader.

Every time I stay in Des Moines I stay the the AC Hotel because at the top is this restaurant.

The staff is always cheerful, friendly and make you feel welcome. They make great cocktails and the food offerings are really good.

They change their menu often to keep things interesting and everytime I eat here I have a new favorite.

This place is great and Trent at the bar knows how to make a perfect Old Fashioned.
