Dulan Mountain Trailhead

Great hike, but I highly recommend getting to the trail head by some kind of motorised vehicle. We did not, which meant we spent 3 hours (6 km, 540 more elevation gain) just walking from the Durham Fish Reserve bus stop along the small road to the trail head (could probably have done it in 2.5 hours if not carrying a toddler), which meant we then didn't have time or enerfy to hike the whole trail. The views from the road are pretty, so if I was to do it again, I'd take a taxi to the trailhead, do the hike, and then walk _down_ the road to the bus on the main road.
Be weary of the info panel at the trailhead. While the location of the scenic area has been corrected on the map, the location marked on the graph is wrong, which left to some confusion when we got to 1.7 km where we expected a scenic spot.
The Forrest is beautiful. There was constant bird song, and we saw many butterflies. We even saw some monkeys in the trees :)

Great hike.. if you start from the bottom of the road like me bravo, it was not easy. I recommend wearing shoes adequate for hiking and bringing hiking poles… you are in the clouds so the ground is rarely dry. I would recommend to start before 10 and at the latest noon. Enjoy the hike and be safe

Nice hike, beautiful views, I recommend to wear good shoes and go on a dry day. Go in the morning, so you’re done before dark. Trail is +- 8km in total

5 star adventure for sure! My friend and I were in Taitung bored with nothing to do so we looked up for some hiking in the area and found this trail. Really simple to find from the highway. We rode our bikes uphill to the trailhead (recommended) and then we were off! Unique hike with monkeys, rope assists and a view worth a million dollars. We came off the hill around dusk and the lights from the city were lighting up with sweeping panoramic views of the coast at the same time. Truly a gem of a hike/bike!

Great hike and good workout for people who really loves hiking and working out. There are some spots along the trail where you will see some view, however, there is no view on top as it is surrounded by plants and trees. Wear comfortable shoes and sports leggings (to avoid getting scratched by some grass) and bring at least a liter of water per person. A small bottle won’t do if you plan to hike all the way to the top.
