Rong Shu Xia Rice Noodles

I came here due to the recommendation of a friend in Tainan. This place deserves every bit of fame it has! The noodles were great, the broth was wonderfully flavored, and the owner who introduced himself to me and told me a bit about his family (between my very poor Chinese and his commendable English and thier wonderful business cards that he pieced together on the table for me) and made me feel very welcome! Everyone was happy there, despite the busy dining room, the atmosphere was very welcoming and the delicious food made everyone enjoy themselves.

A Must-Try restaurant if you are in Taitung.
You can see the crowd in front of the shop, don’t give up, they gone pretty fast so even though it’s long queue but you won’t wait too long till deliciousness 🤤 The famous noodle is made by rice, it’s thicker than the normal one, dried and soup available, highly recommend side dishes too. You’ll enjoy it as much as I do :)

The place with almost 11k reviews is the best hots spot in the center of taitung. After a long train journey from tainan, we ended up having our lunch. This place was full by 11.30; we actually had to wait for 15 minutes. The most highlighted thing in this place is their noodles bowl, which cost only 50 $ntd for small and 55 $ntd for big portions. Noodles are so tasty and juicy with pork stock and veggies in it.
The place runs for almost more than 30 years, serving these noodles at this price.
Now comes the trickest part of their restaurant - the sides, which bring their main business, a bit pricy but super tasty and delicious.
We tried the chciken sausage for $ 100ntd.
Dry fried veggies with minced pork for 180$ntd (which was pricy but really tasty) and then the deep fried crispy fish fry 😋 for 180 $ NTD. Then, teas ranges from 25 to 50$ Ntd.

We loved the place so much; we were the only foreigners in there, chatting and laughing loud getting everyone attention lol 😆, the owners were so sweet and the people who served were also so cute and always smiling, they also have a cute robot who comes and delivers the sides for ur table and talks to you about ur orders.

Thank you, Rong Shu, for giving us an amazing food experience in taitung. Please open a branch in tainan; I will coke every day for the crispy fish and small bowl of noodles.

So delicious. My friend recommended me to have a bowl of 米苔目 if I’m in Taitung, and the food did not let me down. Recommend you guys to give it a try if you come visit Taitung.

And there’s really a tree inside the store, which really make it “榕樹下”.

We would recommend the dry noodles if you like flavor. The soup one was very bland so you might need to add the black vinegar or spices on the table. We couldn't finish it. It was all carbs. A local ordered less mitaimu and more veggies for hers and that might the way to go if you don't want endless mitaimu carbs. Don't forget to add some fish balls for 10NT each. The aiyu was also good and just the perfect sweetness for a Taipei person (definite not sweet enough for someone from Tainan). We got two side dishes, Wonder Woman (salted egg yolk coated fried mushroom with some green peas also coated in salted egg yolk and fried) which I loved. The fried fish dish was like a thai flavor with a sour twist. Both were good but I wonder but it was way too much food (as recommend by the woman at the cashier) for two adults. Total bill 580NT which is on the pricier side. If you're super hungry then get the side dishes which are probably all good but stick with the dry mitaimu if you want something easy and cheap.

It was a fantastic experience; the English menu did not have all the items as the Chinese menu, but the staff is very kind and makes sure you can order anything you want. Food and people are excellent

Very delicious and cheap (50 NT or 60 NT with an egg; 9/2019) noodle soup. Menu is only in Chinese but ordering is straight forward since the options are basically noddle soup either large or small and with/without egg.

Haven't had these in a while. Enjoyed the rice noodles and the clear broth. The side dishes selection is plenty. Worth a try!

Highly recommend the delicious rice noodle here. The dry fish put on top of it make it looks like the dish is alive!

Long queue but it moves pretty fast. That’s a good thing because it’s totally worth the wait!!!

The marinated wood ear mushrooms are amazing. You must get them. The noodles are also fantastic. The egg was a bit disappointing; you are not missing anything by not ordering it.

I think this is the most outstanding eatery in taitung. Definitely worth a try for the rice noodles with a wonderful soup.

The other side dishes also need some accolades, we ordered the deep fried fish sticks and they were amazing! Great crunch and love the hint of lemon sauce! Definitely will get that with the noodles next time!

The rice noodles are ok, but the fried fish side dish is probably one of the best I've ever had. I would definitely come back here just for the fried fish. Find a table and know the table number first before you order at the front.

First visit on last Friday, no doubt the foods were very good. The most worth mention point is, even the restaurant was packed with customers, they still manage to provide good service (which we can't see it from other popular restaurant). That's the most important thing to me and my friends, and I believe, to all the other customers. keep going! we shall visit you next time when visiting Taitung.

We went here today after seen reviews from Google. Lucky we were on time because they closed at 15 o'clock and start again. It is indeed a good place to eat !!

Their noodles soup is delicious. I never have such noodles but it is good.

It was not expensive at all.
