Cais da Sardinha

We stopped by as soon as they opened on a Saturday (end of Feb.) due to the location on the water, we were even more happy when the food arrived, it was delicious and they had friendly, fast service. Not to mention the cost was low compared to the quality of food 👌🏼

The atmosphere is very relaxed with beautiful design, perfect setting for a lovely meal by the water.
We had lunch, as well as took food to go. We had:
•Garlic Bread
•Classic Steak
•Caesar Salad with Chicken
•Seafood Linguine (took to go)
• Chocolate Mousse
•Mulata Cookie Ice Cream

We were in Ponta Delgada and stopped in for a lazy lunch, and were left speechless. The service - impeccable, the fish was caught this morning and the wine was a refreshing and welcomed treat from the norm. All in all I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and will be back here the next time I'm on the island.

We ate here twice. Everything suited our needs including the price. Joao was a very good host. We recommend the wine with a cat, vinha dos Fenais. We tried their sardines, beef, burger and the squid salad. Location is by the harbor in Ponta Delgada.

Had a perfect night with very good musicians, good food,good wine, absolutely recommendable. The food is traditional, but very good quality, the performing trio really lived Fado to the core... No technical equipment, just a Spanish guitar, a Portuguese guitarra, a female singer... That is what I call music. The price we paid for a bottle of water and a bottle of wine and the two meals was absolutely fair, value for money!!!! The comments of some people that it was too expensive, I'll guess they should go and visit the "restaurant" with the big M...😎😎

Note: This restaurant gets busy very quickly. I highly recommend making reservations. Everything they have is absolutely fantastic. We had sardines, steak, linguine and Risotto + deserts. They have right portion sizes. The service is impeccable. Definitely have their white sangria - it is very good.

Not to be missed when you are in Ponto Delgado. Oh, and by the way, they speak many languages: English, French, Italian and, of, course, Portugese

It seems that the menu might be changed time to time. I ordered a seafood plate (tuna, shrimp and octopus), limpets, grilled garlic mushrooms. These were not main dish so I ordered octopus salad in addition. Fish of the day might be good but I thought it would’ve been too much and ended up order 4 dish.
Food tasted good. I asked virgin cocktail, and got a green apple cocktail, which was super tasty - I ordered two times.
The view is fantastic overlooking the sea, and the service was quick enough and kind.
It would have been perfect if garnish (potatoes, salad or sweet potatoes) could be also added to the snack dish such as limpets, sea food plates etc.
Overall it was a good surprise.

The restaurant is very clean and well lit. The ocean view is stunning and the sounds of the sea really enhance the experience. We ate next to the open doors to the ocean and had a great experience. The octopus here is unbelievable! Full flavors and textures in every part of the meal. Our waiters were very kind and quick with requests for additional water. Every part of the meal was amazing. Make a reservation and be ready to enjoy 2 hours of a good meal experience.

I was in Ponta Delgada for a 24-hour layover from Lisbon to Toronto. I ran into Cais Da Sardinha on my research for the best places to eat in the city. Seeing the ambience alone on the photos made me want to go as they have floor-to ceiling windows with stunning views of the harbour. I went there for 12Noon lunch before it gets busy at 2PM (I was told Portuguese people have their lunch this late). Immediately I was greeted with their very pleasant manager and I was able to get a table at the corner, best view of the harbour. I got a glass of champagne (the cheapest one) to start, and it was good and fresh. I ordered their Pica Pau Do Mar (Seafood bites) because I was craving for seafood but didn't want a huge meal as I had a heavy breakfast that day. It was so good, the sauce was delectable that I should've ordered bread to dip with it, and their octopus slices were probably the most tender I have ever tasted. Next time I come here, I will order the octopus main course! It was that memorable! Good food, great value and excellent service! Only paid 21 EUR for everything (glass of bubbles, seafood snack plate, a bottle of water and a generous serving of dessert), which I could never get from where I live. Shoutouts to Joao for accommodating me with utmost attention. Cais Da Sardinha is truly a gem!

A lovely spot on the waterfront - enjoyed a cocktail on the patio and then moved indoors for a wonderful dinner with friends. Attentive and accommodating service, warm lighting, excellent food and drinks.

Incredible location, right on the water. Beautiful views and excellent food! Everything I tried was amazing. The octopus is by far the best I have ever eaten. Affordable prices as well! Lovely staff! Highly recommend!

Synopsis: great fresh seafood, exquisitely prepared -- in a splendid location.
Details: We stopped in for a glass of wine at 2pm, to enjoy the waterfront view. With such a great location, I expected little. But we tried the shrimp and it was glorious: perfectly cooked (in butter & garlic with Piri-Piri). As we left we reserved for 7pm dinner. For dinner, grilled fish and bitoque. Fish (looked like red snapper) which we selected from a bed of ice. The fish, glorious; cooked perfectly. The bitoque was rich and flavourful. The frites/chips/fries almost as good as in Quebec. The staff were courteous, respectful, and engaging. A simply splendid place for dinner. I write this at the end of day 4 of our Portugal adventure; Cais da Sardinha is the highlight of our dining (Ramiro tonight was a fun second-best).

Good restaurant with delicious food. Really nice staff and a nice view right at the sea. We went there 2 evenings, one just for drinks and one for dinner. Good cocktails as well.

Enjoying an excellent brunch with a glass of fine wine on the harbour front in São Miguel at cais da Sardinia with our amazing server Lino, thank you for your great hospitality and service. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. Come check it out and enjoy the great view and food. Cheers!

Delicious food, nice atmosphere. The food had a very good quality, the prices are fair. We can only recommend a visit.

Amazing place with the best sea food ever. Garlic shrimp and mussels were just perfect! Fish of the day was great and they remove all bones by request, squid was delicious, would be nice though to have more squid on the plate and less mashed potato. Everything is very good. Only instead of cappuccino I got latte, I guess they don't know difference or just don't make cappuccino, but that's ok, latte was good anyway.

Went there twice during our week in Ponta Delgada. Enjoyed it very much and staff was always friendly and attentive. Great interior/view of the sea/ambience, and the food always came promptly and was delicious. It's a busy place so we made sure we had reservations both times.

Best restaurant i tried in Ponta Delgada!!! Perfect choice, i had fish soup and shrimp salad. Be careful to reserve your table otherwise you may have to wait to get seated.

Lovely place for food. Great location with big windows looking over the harbour.

The staff were all very friendly and they managed to make space for us when we hadn’t booked. (Call ahead and book).

The food was great and the prices were great too. We’d definitely go back
