What a fantastic restaurant! Waiter was super friendly and explained the methods used to create the local cheese, as well as the traditional stew that’s cooked underground using thermal water. We had a vegetarian version with chickpeas and it tasted fantastic. A very hearty and healthy meal for a peaceful rainy day. To finish we sampled the pineapple pie that uses locally grown pineapple. A brilliant restaurant and I can highly recommend the vegetarian / vegan options!

What an absolute gem of a restaurant! Waiter had recommended such a fantastic wine!!! My friend and I loved the food and the wine! Will definitely be back when in town and you absolutely need to make a reservation if going for the traditional meal cooked in the ground. My friend and I didn’t but food from the menu was delicious! Would absolutely recommend visiting this restaurant.

Honestly great place for tourists! They have English on the menu and they speak English very well. We stopped by at around 1:30 and it wasn’t too busy but a little bit after it was packed. Food was veryyyy good probably the best I’ve had in Portugal so far. The fries were definitely better than any I’ve had here. My dad got the cocido and loved it, especially the broth that comes with it! Definitely recommend this place:)

I've came to eat in Tony's following a tour. I did not regret. Food was delicious and the portion sizes were huge. Can't comment on price since it was included on the tour.
I ate the classic "cozido" and omg, how the meat was tender 🥹 really delicious

Very nice and cozy place! Food is really delicious and Cozido is enough for 2 people.

Do not order a lot! 1 portion of COZIDO is actually enough for 2 people! And please do not try to eat it all alone as it makes your cholesterol jump so high suddenly, at some point I felt like I was gonna die although I didnt even eat half of it. The plate is filled with a very cholesterol-heavy meat and they are all tasty and unique but not the healthiest thing. :)

Half of the food goes to waste at every single table and that saddened me a little tbh.

I don't eat pork so they served me a slightly different version with chicken and beef and veggies and it was still a giant plate. :)

Also, go eat at Tony's first and then go to Furnas celdeiras after as the experience makes more sense that way. (You will understand why when you smell the town afterward.)

Great culinary experience! You have to go watch when they take the pots out (11:30-12:30). All the meat was very tender and tasty. If you like slow cooked meat, this is the place to be. Make sure you order the day before if you want the cozido.

Wow! This was an amazing experience, you will leave with tons of leftovers and be extremely full.

We got the meat dish for 2 and cheese appetizer. We could have definitely shared a platter for 1 and still been full. One glass of wine here = half a bottle. The servings all around were extremely generous and tasty. I wish I had been able to eat dessert it looked amazing.

the best beaf steak I have tried in the Island. Tony’s reply to your calls and you can easily book a table. Good spot to combine with morning hot tub pools and then to enjoy Terra gardens :)

I did not have a chance to try a stew there but their shrimp risotto was great! So were their desserts!
The service is just outstanding! It’s like at high-end restaurant!

I guess all those baths visitors go for lunch to this place and for main square/park stroll at Furnas!
That’s one of the best plans for the day you can
set for you while visiting this incredibly unique place!

Came to try a popular dish cooked in the volcano, we didn't know in advance that we had to make a reservation. But luckily for us they found one serving. It turned out to be huge! I was satisfied, I really liked the meat, there was no unpleasant flavor as some comments write.

I hadn't planned to go to this restaurant, reading more recommendations about a competitor down the street. But as the competitor didn't display their pricing outside, I decided to walk further and see what else this street had to offer.
Tony's was the next and as I could study peacefully check the menu outside, I decided to get in. They found me a spot without reservation.

The view is very nice with a long windowed wall. Some seating outside (but winter so not used). If you want those spots you probably need to book in advance. Even for a lunchtime on a Tuesday in the middle of winter the place filled pretty quickly !

Service was very efficient and incredibly quick. They seem to work as a team so whichever waiter is around you serves you first. I haven't seen that in many other places but it seems to work very well.

Good selection on the menu. Not cheap but not too pricy either. Seems to be the standards for Furnas.

I had the typical cozido, it was good but I wasn't fully impressed by it. There is a mix of all kinds of meat and vegetables so they are not all as good as the others. The root vegetables and the cabbage were very adapted to this cooking method and we're very tasty but the leafy vegetable wasn't so good.
For the meat, it was okay but I have had better chicken, so it would have gone for into 4* but at this price for those quantities, it just manages to keep the 5*.

I tried the local drink Kima. Very nice. And good point that they offer local products.

I went for the Tarta da Graciosa for dessert. It was okay I cannot compare as I never had ano other Tarta da Graciosa, but quite basic. For the price, I would have expected a bit more (maybe some fruits around/some cream?)

All is all a good experience to try the Cozido da Furnas, with great service. Food would need to be compared with other restaurants in the area, but for my french standard we are okay but not at the top :)

It's one of the few restaurants which are also open during the off-season. We didn't have a reservation but we were still able to get a seat very fast. And the service was fast. The food is of good quality and super delicious. We were sitting outside on the balcony and i would also recommend to sit rather outside than inside because inside it's pretty packed and i think it's not as pretty and a bit loud. The grilled squid was very tasty. The food is nicely served and i think price value is very good. All deserts cost 3 euro. The puddings are not really my thing. I wouldn't have the pudding here again.

Cozido actually tasted better than expected, it does have a certain distinct flavour, not just plain boiled stuff. My gf had a vegetarian option (with chickpeas). It is advisable to book the table and cozido in advance (we called the same day for dinner reservation), although we have seen some people being able to get a table walking-in.

At first I was a bit scared as the waiters looked like no one knew about our e-mail reservation, but all was quickly resolved and we were treated to an amazing Cozido and Tuna steak!

The Cozido was definitely super interesting and delicious with many flavors to explore and combine. It is a must have when you visit the Furnas area and even see the Cozidos being taken out of the ground. What I did not expect though was for the Cozido - our main reason to visit this restaurant - to be outshined by the semi-randomly picked tuna steak, which we ordered only for some variety to our dinner, which I would actually recommend as half a Cozido is definitely enough for everyone flavor-wise. The tuna steak was superb, even though I would prefer a medium-well next time instead of well done. It is very strong on its own, but when enhanced by home-made tartar sauce and sautéed vegetables, it is truly a work of art. One of the best meals I have ever tasted!

The restaurant is heavily crowded and you can feel that the waiters want to politely but rapidly rotate the customers, which I don't blame anyone for, but it's far from a cozy or calm place for that reason. If you want good food though, this is the perfect establishment to go to!

We loved the lunch scene at Tony's, it was busy in a fun way and there was even a local news crew there interviewing the staff! The cozido was incredible.

Tips:
- Make a reservation a day in advance for lunch time
- Leave room for dessert
- If you're staying in Furnas, lunch is more fun than dinner

Cozido stew was amazing (cooked in the thermal springs) and very well made. Everything was very tasty, and the café and mousse I had as well were very good.
