Wonderful and eclectic dining experience.
We went with the tasting menu.
Our meal began with the Surf and Turf Sushi Roll as an appetizer. A combination of shrimp and filet mignon. So good!

Every course was delicious and unique surprise .

And even though it was crowded our awesome server Daughter of Thor (she said we could call her that since that's what her name means in Icelandic) and the rest of team did a great job.

Our flight was delayed in Akureyri but we got to dine at this amazing restaurant as our farewell dinner. Because we were with a tour the menu was fixed. Appetizer was 3 different kinds of sushi featuring a sushi pizza and surf n turf roll with langoustine and beef carpaccio. Main course was beef or salmon, I chose the salmon which was full of flavor. Excellent cocktails, friendly staff. Must go to in the north!

This is my favourite restaurant in all of Iceland so far, and I've only had the pleasure of eating there twice now. This time around, I went for the three course meal with the sushi for starter, beef tenderloin as main and nut cake for dessert. I took some photos of these delicacies, but I did so a bit too late, so you will just have to do your best to imagine a dish with delicious beef and so much sushi! (I ordered extra). The nut cake was alright too, 5/5

Rub23 in Akureyri was excellent in terms of its location, atmosphere, quality of service, cleanliness and most importantly, their food offerings. It’s not surprising that Rub23 was recommended travel vloggers who have visited Akureyri. For lunch, we ordered their salmon with herbs, braised vegetables, potatoes, salad with unagi dressing. The salmon was cooked to perfection and everything it was served it complemented the dish – a perfectly balanced dish. The salad was very vibrant and savoury too and was really pleasant to eat. If we lived in Akureyri, Rub23 would definitely be one of our regular spots.

The value for the quality was great, we ordered the adventure menu (11k per person) and included a sushi plate as starter, a main course and a dessert. I loved the sushi, even the soy sauce was notably sublime👏 for the main I had salmon, and although it was very good, I think it was a bit too cooked for my liking (I did mention that I preferred it a bit rare) but still, it was all very tasty. The dessert was the skyr cake, light and delicious. A great experience. The service was excellent as well

One of our good dinners in Iceland so far. The food was well prepared and tasty. We had the scallops and shrimp on bok Choy. The scallops were of a good size. We also ordered a 12 piece sashimi plate and the miso salmon. The salmon was well prepared. Not overcooked. We would think you’d find more fresh fish here but it’s usually Cod. The sashimi was fine.
Service was good too.

My husband and I wanted a extremely nice dinner out for our honeymoon in Iceland and what we found at Rub23 was perfect! Every dish had the most amazing flavors that complemented each other so nicely. Our experience with the service was 10/10. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants an upscale experience.

Fantastic food - fish was fresh, wide variety of choices and ambience of the restaurant was warm and cosy. Service was attentive and good too - we carelessly left our backpack under the table when we left the restaurant and the kind waiter (tall young chap wearing specs with a man bun) ran after us to give it back. Grateful for his honesty and integrity, thank you! A must try if you are in Akureyri.

Rub23 was recommened to us by our tour guide. He recommended the Sushi Pizza and Surf&Turf and we did not know what to expect but we were not disappointed.

The sushi is simply amazing and the best we ever tasted. We had the Sushi Pizza, Surf&Turf, Black Panther and the Bubba No Gump.

We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Akureyri to try the Sushi Pizza and Surf&Turf especially.

Very good food! The fish we had was so delicious and very well prepared! We had shrimps and scallops as a starter and three different types of fish for dinner! They also offer a special type of grill with their own marinate. Very good! The service is great! Probably the best in town!

Service: Quick waiting time, and they serve free popcorn with a really unique seasoning (which I LOVED)! Staff served well, but it did feel quite cold (atmosphere and temperature)

Salmon: this was by far the best salmon I’ve had in my life. The fish was well-seasoned, and the meat was tender, soft and moist inside, and consistent through the fish until the skin, which was crispy and had a great bite. The mashed potato and vegetables it was served with was also really tasty and complemented the salmon really well. Serving of salmon was also quite a bit (for me at least!)

Lamb: my husband had this and I had taken a bite. Not a taste we are particularly familiar with, but I found the meat tender, with the taste of the grill really yums on the meat! It didn’t taste too gamey either. Wish we tried the steak!

Sushi pizza (not pictured): we had had this as an appetiser - a nori and rice base, deep fried in a tempura batter, and topped with a sashimi dressing. This was my second favourite after the salmon! The tangy of the sashimi with the base of the crunch went so so well together.

Surf and turf (not pictured): i can’t eat lobsters, but my husband loved it. He’s not the most expressive… but he says “tastes good!”

Tips:
Make a reservation if you can, but if not, it wouldn’t hurt to try anyway! We didn’t make a reservation, but managed to get seats (tho we were only a table for two), but the restaurant was almost full house the whole time.

Upscale restaurant in downtown Akureyri. Reservationa are recommended. The atmosphere was pleasant, the service was attentive and great. The prices were a bit higher than other restaurants, but reasonable considering the exceptional food and fine dining experience.
We ordered the tasting menu which consisted of a six course feast. It was a great value for the quality of food. Everything was first class, we really enjoyed the dinner.

5*Extreme Sushi Festival—Selection of the most popular sushi and sashimi: very fresh and good.

5*Grilled salmon with soya-sesame glace: tender and flavorful.

5*braised beef short ribs: very good

5*Robata grilled Filled of lamb: parsnip pure, vegetables, potatoes and sauce: cooked medium, soft and tender .

5*Selection of desserts: colorful and great presentation. Three flavors of ice creams, fresh berries, rich chocolates, cream brûlée, etc. Everything was delicious.

A great fusion of Japanese and Icelandic cuisine: amazing food! Great selection of mock tails as well! Absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered. The atmosphere is super chill and the servers are very nice. Great vibe overall. I recommend this place to anyone looking for fine dining but without putting in the effort to dress up etc. Of course, it IS expensive just like every place in Iceland.

Beautifully decorated restaurant, excellent vegetarian options and great presentation. The restaurant was very accommodating of our large group and other large groups present. The staff was attentive. If you love sushi, this restaurant is a must visit!

A top place to eat. The sushi is amazing. Tasty and well presented. Some unique dishes with their own twist as well! A must if you are in town.

Absolutely amazing food in the heart of Akureyri. A must-go place for dinner when visiting this beautiful town. Its good to make booking in advance.

Best meal of our trip! Decided to splurge and get the 3 course meal, adventure course, and we were not disappointed.

1st course was 2 pieces of 3 types of sushi including their famous sushi pizza. All pieces were excellent
2nd course was the beef tenderloin, cooked to perfection with a side of veggies. Very filling and a hearty portion.
3rd course was creme brulee with a berry ice cream. We scraped the plate clean it was so good.

Place to go on a Carnivore diet. Had amazing T-Bone steak from grill, well worth the price. Staff is fine and if I had to pick one negative thing - we didn’t get any steak knives which is weird. Recommend.
