Birchington Medical Centre

Old age inevitably brings its own physical problems ,and my wife and I are no exceptions. Recent experience with the Medical Centre has been excellent. A visit to the very helpful reception enabled me to get a same day appointment with Doctor Earl for my wife. The doctor was thorough and friendly , and arranged immediately for physiotherapy. For those of us whose age clock has already struck midnight such service is heartening. Thank you all , and a Happy New Year.

I’ve always had a pleasant experience since registering in 2017 but in the last year especially I’ve been able to experience how well things are managed behind the scenes. Whenever my daughters medical notes have been shared from urgent care or other providers, without me having to ask, the notes have been assessed and actioned for referrals and follow up appts. When I registered my daughters positive covid test on the government website, the surgery must have been informed as the GP called me a couple of weeks later to check that she had recovered ok and had no ongoing issues. The clinicians have always been lovely and the reception and admin team have been helpful, polite and really kind.

Called 8 am for appointment. About 5 minute wait. Appointment 9.30 arranged. Needed blood test. Done 9.45 and meds needed available next door at pharmacy 5 minutes later. Excellent Thank you

Once again Birchington Medical Centre has justified my faith in them, throughout these difficult times they have supported and ensured that I receive the correct treatment.
Although busy Dr Martin has contacted me weekly to enquire about my health and check medication levels, even when she was on holiday I received a phone call from another member of the team. The prompt diagnosis literally saved my life, so a big thank you to Dr Martin and all the team at the centre, I know it must be difficult working under these circumstances but, you have risen above COVID-19 to ensure you continue to serve the community.

Can’t praise the professional care I’ve received over the past few weeks from BMC highly enough. I’ve had VIP attention from friendly and helpful receptionists and Dr. Pal and Dr. Canal/Kanal have rung me back promptly, listened to what I had to say, and reassured me with their professionalism and attentive care. Thank you all very much. Wish I could give you 10 stars! Well done.

Full marks to BMC - top notch service. I had a blood test last Tuesday (11/1) morning and yesterday, Wednesday (12/1) I received a phone call late in the afternoon with the results. Great team effort . Thank you.

Just like to say a very big thank you to all , and specially reception staff , it is not an easy role. I have liased with them with concerns regarding my mum over the past 12 months and without exception they couldn't have been more helpful , patient and kind . It is very much appreciated .

The doctors are as good as you can get but the surgery is coping with too many people .Years ago there were two surgeries and Birchington has grown since then.At least two more doctors would help.The nurse practioners are good and helpfu. A nationwide shortage makes life difficult.

I had a placement in BMC . The team was awesome . They treat me one of them . As a student I learned so much . The whole team was fabulous .I highly recommend this place for students . KW coolest nurse and mentor . KW so organised . Thank you for having me .

I have had and am having excellent care from the staff at this medical centre, who I know are all working under great pressure. I feel we should be understanding of their difficulties and do what we can to encourage them.

Polite and very quick to deal with issues. I have just switched to this practice and have been impressed with all aspects of service received.

Excellent service

Actually very efficient.
I was booked in for a blood test.
Was able to book in quickly at reception and was immediately directed upstairs.
Was then called in by Leigh and I have to say she was brilliant!
I was in the middle of a fibromyalgia attack, so my body was hypersensitive, but she was so kind, understanding and gentle I didn't even feel the needle going in!
So different from others I've experienced.
Have to go again in May...... hope I get her again!

Having been a previous complainant about this surgery I was really pleased with the service I received today. I had to wait about 15-20 mins to get through on the phone this morning, but managed to get a GP appointment for before lunch time. Spoke with two receptionists who were both polite and courteous. I waited maybe 2 minutes to be seen once I was in the surgery. Saw a lovely GP who introduced himself, listened to me, examined me, explained fully his diagnosis and also explained why it wasn't something I thought it might be, then discussed medication and recovery for the same. I was impressed!!

I have read the reviews by other people which seem to be written, apart from one, by a few people that have had a less than positive experience. I am sure the vast majority are very satisfied as am I.
I have called the surgery on four or five occasions and always been treated courteously by the reception staff, and always got an appointment on the day I called. The doctors I have seen are thorough and have time for you. 8am is a very busy time so expect the phone lines to be queuing up, if you wait your turn, you will be answered. I have also booked advance appointments when available via the excellent Patient Access App for non-urgent appointments. Believe me, there are far, far worse surgeries than this one!

Have found the staff very helpful and caring ( which is hard to find in a surgery now days)
I have had excellent service and would highly recommend anyone new to the area, as I am, to try this surgery.
Yes, getting through on the phone is frustrating sometimes but if like me you don't use their excellent on line service, its something you choose to put up with.
