The care was outstanding all the way from start to finish. The nurse was very professional and pleasant. The practice looks amazing after the renovations inside and out and I know the receptionists are very happy with their new reception area. John Street has come a long way since the new owners took over a few years ago. The DRAB has turned into FAB! Continuity of care is wonderful between their doctors. I highly recommend John Street Medical and its doctors to anyone looking for a new practice within the Kingborough region. Great JOB everyone!!!

John Street Medical Centre truly is a diamond in the rough. The caring and professional staff provide amazing healthcare – so much so, I enrolled my whole family, and each visit reaffirms our choice. The doctors and nurses are thorough, attentive, and genuinely care about our well-being. The clinic is clean, restful, organised, and efficiently run and I always feel valued and heard during my visits. I can't recommend this clinic enough.

I am so grateful for discovering John Street Medical Centre following the retirement of our family GP. We don’t live in the Kingborough are and happily travel the distance knowing we are going to be greeted by caring staff and have our concerns dealt with by qualified and well meaning doctors. Our consultations are thorough and the care we receive is beyond our expectations. I have been recommending this practice to everyone looking for well-being and health care.

Dr Juliana Ahmad holds exceptional expertise in medicine, even when dealing with complicated cases that baffled specialists and have been neglected. Her keen instincts and training allowed her to diagnose the rarest condition, differentiating between a multitude of similar disorders, not overlooking a single clue. But another superpower of hers is her brilliance in dealing with mental health issues: with the precision of a surgeon, she zeroes in on the root cause of a problem in seconds. Identifying and clarifying all the structural and dynamic imbalances of the situation, she then hands over control to the patient with care and compassion rarely seen in detached Western Culture – her kindness is not simulated, but practiced by enabling strength, it is a gift that can be carried out. As a former therapist myself, I put Dr Ahmad at the top of mental health professionals I have ever worked with, and if her genius was not sought after in other areas of healthcare, I would say this is her true calling, but she seems to have a problem of possessing too many talents.

Moved to this practice about a year ago and can highly recommend this practice for any family living in the area. We have had nothing but amazing experiences with the doctors. We were asked full medical history and previous medication questions upon moving here which was the first time I’ve ever received this type of compassionate service.
We’ve also had multiple follow ups via phone calls from these doctors to check in which is amazing.
Thank you for being such caring practitioners

May I offer a heartfelt Thank You to all the doctors for the excellent medical help that John St provides, I believe that the doctors that have attended myself and my family since coming to Kingston back in 1983 have always been good, but over the last couple of years I consider the provision of that service by the practice has become even better.

Keep up the good work, it is much appreciated!

Best regards
David Heard

The team at John St are the absolute best!!! Sally & the team are always so helpful with appointments & other bits - nothing is too much trouble. The nurses & GP’s are also divine - so caring, thorough & gentle - especially with kids. We’re so thankful to them all!

We recently moved to the area and were recommended this practice by a family friend. After visiting the practice 3 times in the last fortnight, I could honestly recommend it to anyone looking for friendly and helpful staff/reception, as well as a caring, efficient and very professional Dr Hargrave. Nothing but positive things to say about this practice.

Receptionists were always kind. But, In my experience and humble opinion this surgery is full of non trauma informed practitioners collectively. Several Dr's didn't believe I was in a domestic violence relationship and instead sided with the perpetrator who suggested I get a psychiatrist evaluation and told me to watch Brene Brown (after I disclosed physical and emotional violence against me.) If you are traumatized I suggest you get support from the domestic violence hotline before going to this surgery or you may end up with an unfair diagnosis. May I suggest that some trauma training may assist and support this practice. It is not trauma informed practice to blame the victim. I am a registered victim of crime. However my child was given reasonable health care hence they get two stars and I really appreciate their attentiveness to her care.

Money grabbing business ethics entrenched in their business systems, and some lazy bullying culture at reception. I know there are at least a couple of wonderful doctors here, but unfortunately the culture in some of their admin processes and some of their reception just cruel.

One example: On joining, this medical centre requires patients to sign that they will not see other doctors outside of the practice. They may defend this as saying it's standard practice and making sure their doctors have the full picture or something else fluffy. But this is the information age.. Sharing medical history is easy and often completed at many other practices with highly sought after practitioners. Finding other doctors if your GP is not immediately available, or seeking second opinions should be encouraged or at least respected, not punished. This staking a claim on owning a patients health is predatory.

If the medical centre reply on here for some PR damage control, I'll make this preemptive reply: If you as an organisation valued patients health above your income, then reviews like this would not be written in the first place.

It's a disservice to the Tasmanian community that there are some good doctors on the other side of these unethical business practices.

Literally the worst practice I have ever experienced . $90 for a repeat script. Always say if you get worse come back otherwise rest up. Absolute money grabbers.
Update - When asked for the Medicare rebate, it's only for kids under 6, seniors and DVA card holders.

I have been calling this centre for few times trying to get an appointment but every time I call them, a reception staff told me they are not taking any new patients. I don’t understand why they are not taking any new patients, we live in Kingston & would like to visit this centre but looks like they will be not taking any new patients. Could you please let me know when you will be taking new patients??
