Absolutely beautiful and magnificent place. Historic in every way. Sadly that will be closing soon due to the complicated tenancy and historic preservation laws here.
What's more, they hand make the absolutely best chocolate and I'm told export it as far away as London. The chocolate is exquisite!
The food here is also very nice. This place has over a 100 years of history. Apparently, many service men stopped here back during WWlI before shipping of to fight. They used to be one of the finest dining spot's in the area with many folks from Sydney coming here for their holiday dinner. They had a banquet hall and a dance room!
It's a truly remarkable place and it's sad to see it closing.

Amazing customer service, the lady was so friendly! So attentive & helpful, as she knew I was on holidays from Sydney! She recommended different places to go and try! As I told her I was on holidays for food exploring 😍 nom nom is what I am good at 😂

This was the first stop, and I was so happy! The interior of the café was gorgeous and classy, it had a very classy historic feel to it!

I ordered a strong soy latte, and it was delicious, strong and creamy! Just the way I like it! ☕

I also ordered a cheese and ham toastie, super cheesy and crispy! All I can say is Yum!! It’s a nice simple and delicious breakfast! Loved it!!

I absolutely love this place. It has an amazing art deco interior. It's absolutely stunning. The decorations are labeled very helpfully too. The warm chandelier light really makes the place feel cozy and special.

The food is adequate. The service is not always fast but attentive.

It's gotten much popular over last few years - there's a queue basically all the time!

Wonderful service. Friendly staff who appeared passionate about the place. Great food and a wonderful old world charm lost in the modern world's cafés. Well worth a visit for tourists and locals alike. I hope it is heritage listed and if it isn't it should be as Australia's oldest running cafe restaurant.

Haven't been here for years, looks much the same, like you stepped back in time, magic!

In spite of a packed house they still serve up the coffee and lunch in good time.

The Rose breakfast, poached eggs, spinach cheese and mushrooms on toast, yum!

It was a nice surprise, when we were curious about the window display, and found a great place inside. Great decor, good treats.

Best coffee I have had.
My mum also tasted the beautiful home made chocolates they make here.
The lady made us feel so welcome.

Love to come back one day

Visited Cafe on Wednesday 4/4/17. Could not fault the cafe, atmosphere, staff, food and/or service. A really lovely place to visit, sitting having scones, jam and cream. It is over 60 years since I had the opportunity to visit and it still retains the old world atmosphere.

The Paragon has moved from it's Original Building to a new one. The Paragon is now next door to the Avalon (across the road and up over the hill, from where it Originally was), and two doors towards the Railway Line (to the North) of the Savoy Restaurant. Food was great, hot chocolate drink that I had was great too. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lovely lady that we spoke to was the Staff. This lady explained to us that she moved The Paragon into a smaller building and didn't renew the old building. I have to admit, after having been to both buildings, this new smaller one has more atmospheric feeling to it. Thanks for your hospitality and kindness. I'll be back there sometime in the future. 😀

A classic restaurant. Awesome food, great menu and wonderful staff. There is a reason this place has been her for more than 100 years. While you are there check out the awesome range of chocolates they make. They also have a great range of memorabilia as well as photos of celebrities (some long gone)., a unique dining experience in the heart of Katoomba. Well worth a visit.

Don't miss out on this beautiful chocolate you won't be disappointed.

Sorry to say it's permanently closed.. fortunately though, some interested parties have banded together to save the building, however, there is a lot in of damage due to poor drainage and Heritage and engineers are in the throes of dealing with the damage with a view to getting the Cafe up and running again in it's former glory!! Just Looking at the border that window as and decided yet the front is enough to bring back some really happy memories. Here's hoping for a reopening soon!!

Friendly staff in a heritage listed restaurant. If you enjoy a bit of nostalgia, the 1920s milk bar setting harks to an era where dining out had just started being a trend.. looking forward to the next 100 years of service for this iconic institution

Visited in Nov 2015 and was thrilled that the atmosphere is the same but even better that the cafe had been taken over by new owners who had opened and restored two parts of the cafe never seen by the public before - concert hall and dining room. Don't miss out on ordering an iced chocolate and be transported back to yesteryear.

We visited the cafe/restaurant today,we were welcomed warmly and friendly staff. After looking at the menu we choose fish &chips with salad,also a Rebecca Salad which was really tasty . We both thourghly enjoyed our meal. Very interesting place to look round.

Step back in time when you walk through the door into the most amazing restaurant, filled with all things past. Chocolates made by the Paragon specially packaged. There are still all the old signage, all the furniture, candelabras, old music boxes, original menus and even old ads for the "silent pill."

The souvenirs are divine beautiful tin toys and just iconic cards and images. Time past today.

The Paragon for me is all about nostalgia. I visit once every year and have done for almost 25 years. It's warm, cosy and authentic. I had waffles which were heavenly and even my fussy teens found something to enjoy. Everyone visiting Katoomba show give it a go.

Paragon makes excellent breakfasts, and great coffee to accompany it. They provide cafe cuisine, rather than the hearty breakfasts offered by most other cafes in Katoomba. With a cozy interior, some outdoor seating in front and really friendly staff, they are one of the best breakfast spots in town. They are, however, cash only.
