Avalon Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

We (2x adults) had a wonderful evening at Avalon, the food was utterly incredible and the vintage mountains vibe and decor was so on point. Took a few minutes to be noticed until we were shown to our seats, but from that moment on it was a fantastic dinner experience. We ordered the Camembert for entree, which was drizzled with honey and roasted pistachios and a hint of flaked sea salt - perfection! For mains we ordered the Duck and the pulled beef croquettes. They were excellent. I had the duck and basically licked the plate clean. The desserts all sounded great and looked wonderful at other's tables, but we were too full to order. For drinks we had a glass of the special white and the fantale cocktail; both were excellent. We'll definitely be going back soon!

What a gorgeous quirky place. Love the decor, the vibe the whole shebang. The food is to die for, taste sensation with an imaginative menu including the desserts. You have to try the apricot and date tart, you won't be sorry. I so wish this place was in Sydney. Only downfall was the cocktails were very expensive and a bit small. Too, the view isn't anything special as has been claimed. It's just a lot of trees and a railway line but everything else about the place makes up for it. Very unique and I can see why it was so busy on a Wednesday night. Love it.

Having Coeliac Disease, I always feel so safe dining at Avalon. My husband and I chose Katoomba for our mini break, especially so we could celebrate our anniversary by dining at this amazing restaurant. Love the views out over the valley and the decor within is just gorgeous! My husband and I shared our meals, so we ordered gluten free entrée and mains. I did allow him his own dessert, as he wanted the date and apricot pudding! Everything was well presented and so tasty. The staff were polite and friendly. We will return!

I love anything vintage so the space alone is amazing....the incredible meal we shared was the absolute icing on the cake!! We ordered the garlic bread to start...3 generous pieces and it was delectable. For main my husband had the steak and just about licked his plate clean while I had the barramundi with beans, salsa and creamy dill potatoes. The barramundi had THE crispest skin and was cooked to perfection. The salsa was so fresh and the creamy dill potatoes were absolutely dreamy! I couldn't fit in dessert but my husband had an affogato to finish and loved it. Service is fantastic and if you're lucky enough to book well in advance you can score one of the tables up on the raised platform with a view. Shout out to the Chefs!

Fun, interesting place, live music (this time a guitar, horns, stand up bass.) Great food. We weren’t super hungry and the two entrees were perfect. Grilled figs w prosciutto, blue cheese, walnuts & balsamic, then confit duck w pancakes, hoisin & fresh veggies. Also a darn good Old Fashioned !

Our High Tea and Gin Tea at Avalon were fantastic. Helen and all the staff went out of their way to ensure a wonderful experience. From the beautiful, quirky decor to the very last meringue, everything was delightful. We WILL be back, and would recommend a visit to anyone. Thankyou AVALON!!!

Amazing night out with my partner at the Avalon this week! Venue is clean and the decor is charming. Service was quick despite how busy they were and the staff were amazing! Cocktails were awesome, strongly recommend the after dinner mint of the magic mountain mist!

We stopped in here after a day of bush walking.
We were tired and hungry and a little disheveled but we were welcomed without a booking regardless.
The quirky decor and mis matched furniture just work together brilliantly and give a little hint of the theatre's hey-day.
Our waitress was dressed in 50's attire and was really lovely.
The food arrived quickly and was very good.
I would love to come back again and work my way through the menu as there were so many things that sounded delicious.

Our second visit recently (with UK visitors). This restaurant is quite amazing. The food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly & efficient. I love the decor, very eclectic & fascinating.
Highly recommend going on a Friday night for the entertainment. We will definitely be going back.

Great atmosphere at this place, awesome decor and a nice view of the Blue Mountains. Food and service is great, especially for the price. It feels fancy enough to be a proper restaurant, yet its not pretentious (or expensive) like other places in the area (Tempus). Bonus points for being a live music venue and a proper cocktail bar. Perfect for a date or a group dinner. Cheers.

I wanted to take my visiting friend somewhere special. I hadn't been to Avalon but it seemed to be well liked so I thought I would take my friend there. I want to thank the team for making it a wonderful night. The food was delicious, the staff was attentive, the atmosphere was great. I like the quirky decor and the great views. Couldn't ask for a better local spot. Will now take any visitor to one of my new favourite spots.

We have never returned to the same restaurant ever…. except this one and I have never bothered to leave a google review and this is my first. This is a not to be missed epicurean experience in a quirky atmosphere that is all the more of an experience savouring the sublime jazz trio on Friday night. The same owners also run The Bowery as well.

Absolutely love Avalon ❤ it's my favourite restaurant this side of the mountains. The high tea is fantastic especially the scones, delish !
Been coming here for about 18 months now and will always be my first choice in Katoomba. Main dining menu is great, please don't make any changes. Pan fried Chicken is my absolutely favourite 😍 rotate the entrees by all means to keep it fresh (Chicken spring rolls are delicious by the way).

Going back in time atmosphere, with a lot of vintage stuff around you. It is like you have been transported to 1920’ on an art deco tour. Lots of artefacts on display. Avalon restaurant has live music late in the evening, with a great European cuisine and a good selection of sweets. Highly recommended

Amazing food, service and atmosphere 👌 The best duck I've ever had. Amazing scallops and truffle cake for dessert. Definitely recommend and will be back when we're next through Katoomba

Amazing restaurant with great food, professional and friendly staff, delicious meal, tasty Australian wine and fantastic interior design and view on mountains. We did an easy online reservation which is recommended because it's quite popular and busy. Highly recommended!! For foreigners like us, it's good to know that free and strong WiFi is available.

We want to Avalon last night for a special occasion and booked for the Supper Club, it was incredible! The atmosphere with the band, the quirky place, the outstanding service and the delicious food. So glad we found this little gem!
