XS Espresso Kotara

Wow! Just…WOW! This is THE place to go for breakfast. With a huge menu and a ridiculous amount of variety this was a super enjoyable experience. A few things in the menu felt a little expensive but the serving sizes are also quite generous.
Staff were friendly and we were served quickly.

The best breakfast I've had lately. The happy bowl makes me so happy. The roasted pumpkin , beetroot hummus and that tiny bit of grilled chilli and grilled cheese was so nice. Thank you for the great food! Will definitely come back and recommended!

Volcano! This was an amazing place, with an long menu and fun meals. The staff are immediately welcoming and friendly to customers. The establishment is full of colour and an easing vibe, seating is spacious but filling. The menu is full of delicious options of which fills you up easily.

The food it self was amazing, would suggest a little softer on the sourdough, but this is a personal preference and something that is no true problem with the food in itself. Now…the drinks…you have your usual drinks; tea, coffee, smoothies. The MILKSHAKES were awesome, very very filling. This was an amazing creation that was fun to look at and delicious to eat.
I would highly recommend this place especially if you have kids.

Delicious food, friendly staff. The breakfast burger here was delicious than Jesmond branch. The bacon in jesmond is very salty but they are delicious here.

Awesome service, clean and very welcoming, and the drinks/beverages were fresh, tasty and well proportioned too.

Dined in this morning, most other places were closed as it’s a make up public holiday. Girls who served us were friendly and polite. They took a booking and had a table ready for us. And I know there are plenty of places who won’t take bookings. Especially on a public holiday like today. We didn’t have any of the fancy shakes they’re known for. But the babycino was very fancy and loved by my little one.
Piccolo coffee was great and the French toast and XS big breakfast was definitely generous compared to some other breakfast places out there that I’ve been to.
I’m not too sure if there was a public holiday surcharge or not, but if there was then the girls working deserve every bit of it.
First time at any XS espresso location, but I’ll be back to the Kotara one for sure.

Love visiting XS Cafe….great atmosphere with amazing food…Sam the man is also a gentleman making my little girl happy. 5 star all round

Absolutely fantastic experience! Service was super fast and the food was very fresh. The shakes are insane. Prepare for a good hangover.

This may be the best Big Breakfast in Newcastle (Closest thing to a Full English breakfast).

Having said that that, if the Chef believes he got away with convincing me that the hot water wasn’t working which is why he didn’t give me poached eggs he’s got another thing coming 🤨. I know you fried them by mistake. The waitress literally went and grabbed it from the counter straight after telling me the hot water wasn’t working 😅

But we will be back! The food was amazing.

This is a wonderful establishment. Love the food, and it's a place I just like to visit by myself and relax and enjoy.

Maaaate, this place is the bomb. The best service, the best food and for$20 or under, you'll have a full belly. All fukn an immaculately clean shop. 5 stars is not enough.

From first glance you don't expect more than a casual coffee shop, but boy was I pleasantly surprised! An extensive all-day breakfast menu, as well as large lunch meals on offer. Service is friendly, presentation of meals is beautiful, and everything was delicious - definitely a place to try 😉

(Breakfast review) Amazing and very quick service. Food was delicious and well priced for the portions. Would definitely recommend using the visual menu as the portions are bigger then you’d expect (but not a negative thing). Will 100% be back to give the lunch and dinner menu a try

First time dinning for morning tea and it was amazing, best to book in advance as it fills up very quickly.

I have had dinner at XS Espresso in Kotara Homemaker Centre on 4 occasions now & I have been impressed each time. On the first occasion I had my adult son with me & he likes chilli so he ordered a hamburger & asked could he have some extra chilli on the side, which was presented quickly & he said his burger was super good. I had the Red Barramundi with gnocchi & sweet potato shavings which was absolutely cooked to perfection. The next time I went for dinner I had the pasta with grilled prawns, chilli & garlic & it didn't disappoint, The following times I went, I ordered the same again & both meals were just as good as the first time. That consistency is a good sign for me. Being open at night for dinner is also really good for me as the parking is right at the door & it is somewhere to go that is quiet & enjoyable. An eatery at night was needed & I hope people give it a go because good places need patrons & word of mouth recommendations because without patrons these small businesses close through no fault of their own. I like to support locals having a go & if they are good I go back. I am going there again later this week.

Staff was knowledgeable on what foods were completely gluten free and safe for Coeliacs. There is a number of gluten free options on the menu but I think you may need to mention to the staff you are Coeliac first as there might be items in the meal that aren't completely gluten free.
