ANKI'S INDIAN RESTAURANT

Katoomba needed a redemption arc after a visit to the disaster of the Indian restaurant that shall not be named.

Anki's was recommended by friends who were going to host a dinner party, due to it being takeaway only.

I ordered things I enjoy elsewhere to see what their spin on these would be like.

I tried their butter chicken and dal palak.

We had rice cooked at home and our friends treated us to home made mango lassi. I also ordered cheese and garlic naan, but tried the plain garlic, too.

The food was delicious, the servings in a large container. I had 3-4 good meals out of my two mains. I definitely will return to this wonderful establishment and sing songs about it to my friends and anyone who'll listen. Been wanting to go back ever since we tried it.

Hope they stay in business for a very long time!

Got lamb, beef and goat Rogan Josh, rice and a variety of naans. Price was very reasonable. The meals were fantastic, best we have had in years. Has a nice bite and makes your lips tingle 😊

In katoomba since last 3 days ,I was looking for indian spicy food. After reading few reviews , was not sure. So ordered just matar paneer n naan, with not much expectations. The food was just authentic n excellent.We all specially kids loved it. And ordered more which was again good. If you want spicy punjabi food, this is the place.
The young lady at counter was courteous and prompt.

Had a great dinner here. Food was very tasty and a good dining experience. Nice atmosphere. Good sizes and decent value too. Not exactly an intimate place but great cosy vibe.

The butter chicken I ordered was incredible the taste was just absolutely perfect , best butter chicken I have ever eaten by a long shot .

Very good Indian food; they were only doing take away over Easter so we ordered and took it to Blackheath lookout to watch the sunset.

Coming from the UK where Indian food is very common, I was disappointed to find that the Indian food in Australia was no match, that was until I discovered Ankis. It is now what I most look forward to when going to the Blue Mountains.

This place is so unassuming but the fresh, flavourful Indian food always makes our bellies sing. Having dined here about 10 times now, I can also say the consistency of quality is excellent.

Both of Anki's restaraunts make amazing Indian food. Authentic, fresh and not oily. You might need to wait a bit for your food to arrive but it's worth it. The prices are fair for the great quality food. Been amazing for 10+ years that I've been going.

Awesome Indian! Best butter chicken I've ever had! Lots of reviews whinging about serving size , me and my fiance got two dishes, a small rice and a garlic cheesy naan between us and both left comfortably full for $47 ! Would recommend to anyone I know who likes indian!

Fantastic food. Real spices not overdosed with cream. We ordered all vegetarian meal. Only improvement is for them to add paratha or roti in their bread options. Naan is great for dine in, not take away.

We’re locals and very lucky to have this place so close . Katoomba has great takeaway of all varieties . Food always extremely tasty . Over the years a totally reliable source of great Indian .

Reading some fair to muddling reviews of this place, so I thought I'd weigh in.

Food - Tasty, so tasty, and serving size was great (unless you're a fat lump of a thing)
Staff - Friendly and competent. If you book ahead, you're sweet, if you just show up, you'll have to wait. Harsh, I know.
Tables - Huge! I'm 6'4" so this matters :)

I would go again in a heartbeat. I've been to 2 Indian restaurants in Katoomba and have only reviewed 1.

We had the pleasure of eating at Anki's and were absolutely delighted with the whole experience. It was basic decor but FABULOUS food. I've eaten many curries all around the world and the Eggplant side dish was by far the best I've ever had. Also very reasonably priced. A great little treasure of a resturant.

Best Indian food around! Everything we ordered was delicious! The Samosas are especially good. Their Naan was also great. The service was excellent also. My family will definitely be eating here again!

Great, flavoursome, inexpensive Indian dishes.

We came midweek, in the middle of winter, so just walked in of the street. They recommend a reservation, and in busier times that would be advisable.

Likewise, the menu requests patience, but with the restaurant only half full the staff were marvelously attentive and all our dishes came out promptly.

Very nice Indian restaurant! Good location and friendly staff. They have vegan options in the menu. We tried the Palak Tofu and the Vegetable Korma with plain naan, everything was delicious. Will definitely come back.
