It’s a bit strange for me as I am also an Asian guy who had an original rice noodle, however, it’s such an amazing style of noodle I had in Phu Quoc Island today, it’s mix up flavor with sour but tasty n mix up with some seafood where I think its another flavor for tourist who visiting these island to explore… strongly recommend 🥰🤘🤘

Had our lunch here today and enjoyed the unique soup. It was easy to park, managed to leave the scooter just outside the place. The server was really helpful and spoke very good English. Most expensive dish was 85k. There are sugar, salt, msg, chilli (ps, extremely spicy, so only add just a bit) and small citrus fruits to make up the sauce to add to your soup. We also had fresh sugarcane juice, 10k and very delicious. Very nice lunch, overlooking the boats at the harbour.

Absolutely loved it here!!! My wife and I had lunch and both really enjoyed it, soup was so tasty and really enjoyed making the little sauce that goes with it. Would certainly recommend eating here, we're both be back.

Do yourself a flavor and give this 80k bowl of seafood noodle at the local joint on the river bank a try.
The broth looked clear and unassuming but make no mistake, it was packed with seafood umami goodness. The bowl came with substantial shrimp and crab patties, fresh crunchy mini squids filled with squid egg, and pork. Go to the sauce bar and whip up your own concoction of sugar, salt, chili and juicy kumquat (the pre-made mix might have MSG) to put in your bowl AND to dip the seafood. Don't be overly enthusiastic with the chilli like me and end up red and sweating profusely on the sidewalk. Or do.
Order and pay at the counter, they will give you a buzzer for when your food is ready to pick up. Grab your own drinks from the fridge. Service is minimal but honestly wouldn't stop me from coming back.

Nestled amidst a bustling local market, this spot offers a delightful culinary experience. The "Bun Quay" was exceptional, and the freshness of the seafood truly stood out. This dish, iconic to Phu Quoc island, is a testament to the island's rich culinary heritage. The simplicity of the menu, combined with the warmth of the locals, adds to the charm.

The coffee here is a standout, easily the best I've tasted in Ninh Binh. The frothy texture and robust flavor are unmatched. Additionally, the yogurt with purple rice was a delightful surprise.

What's truly special about this place is its authenticity. It's a haven for those seeking a genuine local experience, devoid of the usual tourist crowd. If you're venturing to Ninh Binh, this market is a must-visit for its unbeatable value and unique offerings.

Food: EXCELLENT. This was the first time I had this type of noodles. And these are very yummy! The sauce was so good - be careful with the super spicy crushed chilies. I thought the classic option was good enough and reasonably priced. But the upgraded option was good as well.

Drinks: N/A.

Service: GOOD. You do have to serve yourself. But everyone is super helpful when you need to ask questions.

Atmosphere: EXCELLENT. Very authentic, decent and clean place.

Overall: YES. I would definitely come back.

Nice and simple food menu. After the order, almost everything is self-service - customers get a tracker that vibrates when food is ready to be picked up.
This is nice place for solo traveller or anyone want to eat without the hassle of having to interact much with waiters/waitresses. They have instruction posters hanging, which makes it easy to follow especially it's my first time eating "Bún Quậy".

Food itself is fine - good amount of protein and noodle. Interesting thing about it is that you need to season your own food - so of you're not used to eating spicy, I recommend take it easy with red chilli and don't add too much until you're sure about the level you can withstand.

Absolutely loved these noodles made with beef, shrimp cakes, fish paste and fresh squid…we actually happened on the restaurant out of accident looking for pork free food and fell in love with the food … and to know that this dish is only available in Phu Quoc…. Yumz… love it!!!

It's special here and I got recommended by friends. It is actually very unique. The restaurant is always full and no need to book ahead. You will have to make your own sauce of your choice and it is said that it will taste better if you mix one spoon of your sauce into the soup, and it definitely tastes better with a bit of acidic and spiciness

Here I ate the best shrimp pate ever. They actually only have one dish (noodle soup) but served with different toppings (shrimp and fish pate, beef and squid). Soup base is made with fish. A must try.

Chanced ipon this restaurant while walking back to our resort.
Food was excellent.
The start was the Chilli mixture that needs to be added to the noodle soup.
The noodle soup had no fishy smell and was bursting with flavour.

Very nice Vietnamese Seafood soup noodle, you know you would never go wrong for a restaurant that is still open for many years and after COVID.

There is only one type of noodle in menu but with different topping like fish cakes, shrimp cakes, beef and squid, I like their soup very much and it give you a taste of the sea and full of favourite.

You order via the cashier first, the cashier can speak basic English, the ‘menu’ has no English and it is not hard to understand via a bit of translation software. Then she give you a pager and you wait, and it takes 10 to 15 minutes for us on a quiet afternoon, so I think it would even busier like other said in the review..

Then you go to the counter to mix some sauce for enhance the favour in the noodle…

I think it is a something have to try when you’re in the Phu Quoc

Great noodle soup with delicious ingredients. You can have fish or shrimp paste together with beef and squid depend on your personal choice. They also have nice sugarcane juice. Price is affordable for tourist but consider high when compare with local dishes.

What an atmosphere... Bun Quay....yummy. When visiting Phu Quoc, don't forget to stop by. Fresh squids and prawn meat, purely prawn meat

You have to serve yourself and you have to mix the sauce for your noodles at a little station. The sauce is an important part of this dish. The sugar cane juice is good. All in all it was very delicious!

Bún quậy Squid Noodle Soup
When you want to go on a successful soup adventure you have to well and truly throw yourself into the deep end. You need to see an opportunity that may be uncomfortable and seize it. For me that was Bún Quậy Kiến Xây. A bustling institution of Phu Quoc which specializes in a squid and rice noodle soup accompanied with a sauce or condiment that you create to your own taste. I lined up with several other people who had been a part of this line many times before, they knew what they were doing. For me, a silly foreigner boy with only a couple of Vietnamese words in my vocabulary all I could do in this situation was point to the photos on the menu. The cashier person was so lovely and went out of his way to make sure I knew half of what was going on. He sent me on my way to the condiments table with a futuristic buzzer which would inform me when my soup was ready. It was only moments later when I was halfway through crushing up chili’s, mixing in MSG, Squeezing lime for my sauce they the buzzer vibrates and low and behold I was presented with a soup containing two of the juiciest and fresh pieces of squid I ever will see.
Lucky for me I found a table in the corner, shared with two locals who were proud enough to tell me I had too much lime in my sauce 🤷🏻‍♂🤷🏻‍♂. The soup was delicious! The stock was subtly fishy, made all the better by my recent saucy creation. So. Much. Fun. The squid as expected was super tasty and the fish cake? Was a delight too. Once you get past the frenetic energy of this restaurant with locals jostling for every spare seat it is a truly fantastic experience. Now to find where to buy one of these chili crushers to take back to Melbourne!

Flavourful soup base, filling and fresh seafood toppings. It was interesting making your own sauce and serve yourself. The staff were helpful briefing us on the gists.
Reasonable price.

This place is pretty neat! I would suggest not going at peak dinner time because it’s pretty chaotic - there are two of the same restaurant but the one with the blue front is the place to go (because the other is for Vietnamese customers only because they don’t speak English back there!). Ordering is simple enough because there are really only two options - the noodle bowl with a full squid or without (and both come with a sugarcane juice)! (Also the locals were ordering some fried things from an unrelated cart and bringing them inside to eat while they waited for their noodles and the restaurant seemed unbothered so we followed suit!) We did the without squid version and it was scrumptious, and you can watch the locals make their spicy sauce to their taste (as well as they may give you a receipt with instructions in English!) to figure out how to make it - dip your noodles in or if you can handle a powerful spice, dump it into your bowl! I handle spice pretty well but the sauce I made was SPICY so beware! It comes quite bland in the first place so don’t panic since it’s up to you! All in all very tasty but try to go in the afternoon so you can avoid the mad rush and so you don’t worry about them running out!
