We loved Phu Quoc we spent a week on the island. We hired a scooter to use while we stayed $6 a day but gave it back after 3 days because we discovered the free green electric buses fantastic very modern with AC. The buses took you to most of the attractions, and if you fancied eating out in a different island location, you hoped on a free bus it was great!
Definitely go to Phu Quoc. we stayed in Phu Quoc Town, its busy, but you get used to it. The beaches are lovely

Phu Quoc Island boasts idyllic beaches, romantic sunsets, evergreen forests, and a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal holiday destination for travellers looking to escape bustling city life. Located 45 kilometres west of Ha Tien in the far south of Vietnam, the northern part of the island is relatively untouched due to its status as a UNESCO-listed national park but there are plenty of luxurious resorts, funky bars, and quaint cafes along the southern coastline. Aside from beachside activities, visitors can also explore traditional villages, expansive nature parks and Buddhist pagodas, all of which are easily accessible via motorcycle, taxi, bus or even day trips by reputable companies. Catering to just about any budget level and preference, Phu Quoc’s dining scene ranges from local markets selling fresh seafood and Vietnamese street food to expat-owned bistros offering authentic western and European fare.

The best attractions in Phu Quoc prove that there are plenty of things to do during your tropical vacation besides relaxing on its pristine beaches. Situated 45 kilometres west of Ha Tien, Phu Quoc Island is home to unique Cao Dai and Buddhist temples, vibrant markets, traditional fishing villages, and pepper plantations – perfect for travellers looking to experience the local lifestyle. Despite the growing number of tourist accommodations and modern facilities along its expansive coastline, more than half of this tropical island is still a UNESCO-listed national park, where you can enjoy a full day of spotting rare wildlife species, hiking, camping, photography and bird-watching. Read on for our list of the most popular things to do on Phu Quoc Island.

Phu Quoc National Park comprises more than half of Phu Quoc Island’s northern region, where adventurous travellers can enjoy a range of outdoor pursuits throughout their tropical vacation. Declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2010, this massive natural attraction spans over 314, 000 square metres of unique flora and fauna, evergreen forests, and dense mountain ranges. While the majority of Phu Quoc National Park is strictly protected by the Vietnamese government for research purposes, visitors can make their way to the Khu Rung Nguyen Sinh Forest Reserve via Ganh Dau Village as it’s accessible for camping, hiking, bird-watching, and photography. Nature lovers can also spot rare wildlife such as long-tailed macaques, silver langurs, slow lories, otters, and hornbills.

If you’re looking to test out your endurance, Mount Heaven in Phu Quoc National Park is accessible within a challenging four-hour trek through the evergreen forest followed by a 10-metre-tall bamboo ladder. The highest peak in the national park is Mount Chua, which stands 600 metres above sea level, but hiking trails and viewing platforms for the mountain are currently under construction. Located 26 kilometres north of Duong Dong, the best way to get to Phu Quoc National Park is by booking a day tour or renting a motorcycle. The roads leading towards Ganh Dau Village can be rather bumpy, so only opt for the latter if you’re comfortable navigating through dirt roads.

A Heavenly Escape to Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam

Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam is a hidden gem that truly exceeded all my expectations. From its pristine beaches to its lush greenery and vibrant culture, this tropical paradise provided an unforgettable travel experience.

Firstly, the island's natural beauty is awe-inspiring. The crystal-clear turquoise waters, coupled with powdery white sands, create a picturesque setting that rivals any postcard image. Spending lazy afternoons lounging on the beach, swimming in the warm ocean, and watching breathtaking sunsets became my daily routine. The island is also home to several secluded beaches, allowing for peaceful and intimate moments away from the crowds.

The island's diverse ecosystem is another highlight. Phu Quoc National Park offers numerous hiking trails through dense forests, leading to hidden waterfalls and stunning viewpoints. Exploring the park was a refreshing escape from the beach, and it gave me the opportunity to witness the island's rich wildlife up close.

Phu Quoc is also renowned for its vibrant night markets, where one can experience the island's local culture and indulge in its mouthwatering cuisine. The Dinh Cau Night Market is a must-visit, offering an array of fresh seafood, local delicacies, and unique souvenirs. Trying the famous "Phu Quoc fish sauce" is a must, as it is a testament to the island's culinary heritage.

Moreover, the island's friendly and welcoming locals enhanced my overall experience. Their warm hospitality and eagerness to share their traditions and stories made me feel like a part of their community. Engaging with them allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the island's history and cultural significance.

While there are numerous accommodations available, I highly recommend staying in one of the beachfront resorts. The luxurious amenities, coupled with breathtaking ocean views, create an atmosphere of pure relaxation and tranquility.

In terms of accessibility, Phu Quoc Island is easily reachable by air, with regular flights from major cities in Vietnam. Once on the island, renting a motorbike is a popular and convenient option for exploring its various attractions.

In conclusion, my trip to Phu Quoc Island was an unforgettable experience. Its natural beauty, vibrant culture, and warm locals made it a destination that I would highly recommend to any traveler seeking a tropical escape. Whether you're looking for relaxation or adventure, Phu Quoc Island has it all.

Vietnam invest a lot to make the island proper place for tourists. New airport, good roads, lots of new hotels, Safari and zoo are new and deserve 5 stars. Entertainment park with water park is excellent, you should visit fountain show at 7pm. In 2 more years island will be world-class resort, now it is on the way and still cheap.

A developing island. Come before it's too late and too crowded. Phu Quoc has beautiful beaches, landmarks and most of the local people are so friendly, always have good stories to tell. Worth visiting.

Blue ocean, white sand, best beach.
I went to Phu Quoc on late of June, rain heavily every afternoon but beach was still beatiful. There are too clean and wild. Fresh sea food, espcially crab and shrimp. You can try seafood by stop over at An Thoi market, cheap price! You also can see the coral. Should take a cycle around the island. I think Sun Premier is the best villa for your family to stay and enjoy your summer time together! Quality buffet with worldwide food from Asia to EU! Must try Pho, the most delicious Vietnamese food! Now, are you ready to land Phu Quoc!

Great place, great weather, with beautiful beaches, many attractions and things to experience. There's no winter here so everyone can go here at any time of the year.

Great experience, beautiful beaches, great sunset, friendly locals, a lot of coffee, cheap seafood, coconut ice cream, great food around. If want cheaper food, go local. Everything is great here, the expensive food is affordable too. Use grab if u want travel with car, rent a scooter for 150k vnd per day if u wan travel around. Don't buy any food at airport those is over price. 10 time more then normal price.

By the way, electricity might cut off time to time. This well known here and don't get cheated by airport fake taxi or ghost taxi. Those they come and ask taxi taxi. Choose the metered taxi. 2019 price to ong lang beach is cost around vnd300k. Don't get cheat by those said in usd. They might 500k, insisted take metered

Overall I think it’s a beautiful island to visit but one must be aware of the season and the timings when they are visiting. I went all the way to the star fish island in July but due to bad weather and high level of water , was unfortunate to not see any starfish at all. I also think that the waters are too open for exploitation by the people and it’s very bad water . Wouldn’t want to step into it. Occasionally you might find a snake somewhere like I did. So watch out!
The resorts around are beautiful and so are the restaurants with loads of varieties to offer. They love preparations with coconut so do try it. Grilled sea food is another delicacy. The spa services remain open until 2 am at some places but most of them shut down by 11pm in the night ! The best way to travel around is to rent a motorbike which the hotel or the resort guys would happily arrange for you. It should cost about 150000 dong normally ! Happy travelling!

In the An Thoi archipelago, around 15-20 km far from the Southernmost point of the mainland town, you may have a chance to meet a vivid reef of coral. Our tour guide called it as Phu Quoc Half-moon Reef (as the shape itself). Came to Phu Quoc island in the best time- dry season when the sea is at its best to enjoy underwater activities, the water becomes calmer, we really enjoyed this afternoon exploring the private snorkeling with our young & talented guide.
We hope every holiday-maker can understand the responsible travel & coral protection before they choose any tour operator & destination! Pls help to #savePhuquoc #savethereef!
