Most delicous food on the island.

If you want the best possible value for money & fresh seafood, look no further.

Can even order takeaway. I surely did, as I can't get enough.

The restaurant is spacious and cozy, and the service fast and friendly.

Eating here (and buying a lovely souvenir) helps support a local family who runs it.

One of the best meals we have had in Vietnam. The prawn curry is better than any curry I have eaten and the spring rolls were delicious. Highly recommend.

This is one of the best place on the island. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the music - all perfect. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than in some places But you pay for the high quality. And it totally worth it. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place to have a great meal ☺ my personal favourite was a soup with seafood, special spicy squid and squid stuffed with pork. Absolutely delicious.

We had a delicious meal here. The southern style noodle salad with beef was great: an explosion of tastes! The yellow curry with tofu is my new favorite meal. The squid stuffed with pork was very tasty as well. The staff was very kind, polite and fast. Definitely recommend!

We are from Malaysia. After reading thru the reviews. There are some negative and positive comments. Everyone got their own taste. And we choose to come and try out the food. The food was delicious to our liking. The set meals was big portion for 2 pax and the price was reasonable.

We loved our meal at Mai Jo, and the fusion of Vietnamese and Portuguese flavours is certainly a match made in heaven! For us the standout dishes were the tiger prawns with cashews & bell pepper, and the chicken curry. Our kids also loved the grilled pork wrapped in betel leaves. The presentation of the food was outstanding, the flavours were distinctly different to anything else we had tried during our holiday in Vietnam, and the service was quick. It was also great value, for the quality of food received.

Fantastic and authentic food with portugiesi twist in the heart of phu quoc.
Carmelized squid filled with pork, grilled oysters, eggplant with rice no matter what you order here it tastes amazing! And Vino verde fits sooo good with Vietnamese food. We visited the place twice during our 5 days stay at phu quoc.
there are also many delicious vegetarian options !

We decided to get out of our resort for dinner and we’re so glad we did !definitely worth paying a visit if you’re in Phu Quoc, dishes are delicious (chicken curry is to die for) and desserts are very tasty as well :)

It’s also a bit further away from the mass tourism so it’s calmer and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very friendly

We passed Mai Jo several times before visiting ourselves and always saw plenty of guests in there so had to try it out!

Initially, we weren’t sure about the Vietnamese-Portuguese food combination and fairly small menu (although generally small menus are a good thing I guess?), but we were really positively surprised and came back for a second time.

Such a tasteful and great food experience and you can really taste that the food is freshly cooked!

The staff was also super nice and helpful. We highly recommend this place.

One of the best restaurant I have been in Vietnam (from Hanoi to Mekong). Staff is nice, speaks English and answers all the questions. We have been there twice in 3 days, and saw other returning guests too. First we had the vegan menu and the Portuguese fish stew (no, we couldnt finish it :D). On the second night, we had tom yum soup (maybe the best I have ever had) with tofu and clams , veggie spring rolls (also highly recommended!), fried eggplant and red snapper fish from the charcoal grill (10/10). If you like seafood and/or fish, I recommend to choose something from the daily charcoal menu, it’s amazing (see pics)!
We had glasses of red and white wine - were also good.
I honestly don’t understand the previous negative comments here, this place is a (hidden?) gem!
If you want to eat hamburgers, go to McDonald’s or at least read the message at the entrance and book it in advance.

Very welcoming place to dine - clean, nice staff, great cocktails & food is amazing-so fresh, delicious & made with love! Grandpa's prawn curry lives up to the hype! Grilled oysters to start are to die for! Vegan options available, which made my wife very happy! All round top place to visit for an exquisite fusion of Vietnamese & Portuguese food! Highly recommended 😃😋👌🏻

We tried this place after a day on the beach, following a recommendation from another couple and we were so glad we did. It’s a lovely setting with tables outside and in, the kitchen is visible at the back of the restaurant. The service was impeccable, we were presented with ice cold towels after sitting down and were brought a complimentary small bowl of soup whilst we chose our food.

There’s a great choice of local and western dishes on the menu and some amazing fresh seafood of course. We ate here twice and everything we had was spot on!

Came across this place as we were looking to escape our resort food.

So glad we decided to come here. What caught our eye was the interesting dishes as opposed to the run of the mill menu of every other place. The service is amazing and the team was so helpful in recommendations and helping us pick the right thing. Had a lovely chat with the lady who runs it as well.

We had clams in a butter garlic wine sauce. Delicious clams and even better sauce. It was served with some bread to mop up the delicious sauce.

For the main, we had a super interesting minced beef dish which had some betel leaves that they grow in their garden - simple and very satisfying with a unique flavour.

To wash all this down we had a beautiful green wine from Portugal. Something we hadn’t seen before in Vietnam.

For dessert, you have to get the flan with the Vietnamese coffee and crushed ice. One of the better flans we have had with a perfect amount of sweetness.

All in all a wonderful meal with great service and a much needed break from traditional Vietnamese food.

Came here for dinner so the temperature was nice. The grandpa’s chicken curry and squid in secret sauce were absolutely delicious and very flavorful. Can comfortably feed two ppl (or three if you're not as hungry). We waited about 25 minutes for the food after ordering (which they told us in advance) and it was worth it. The staff speak English and were friendly and attentive. Their music creates a good vibe and is tasteful with a side of romantic. Also clean! Highly recommend coming here instead of staying at your local resort, we will be back to try more dishes!

Excellent range of seafood at a good price, we were one of only a few customers there but it should be a lot busier. If you love seafood give it a go! Got the grilled catch of the day and stuffed squid. Both very tasty

Very clean & friendly restaurant with consistency in a white, blue & gold look. The food is amazing. We had pork ribs & bo la lot (beef mince with betel leaves) & they're one of the best I ever had (speaking as a Vietnamese who has had them my entire life).

Definitely will come back ⭐

Absolutely stunning restaurant, best one we had in our 9days stay! Welcoming English speaking staff, great cocktails.
Vegan options are amazing, I had the house specialty eggplant. Highly recommended. The house ginger and lemongrass infusion refreshing drink is a must!
Husband had a curry from the "grandpa's recommendation" section. It was also amazing. If you are in Phu Quoc you must visit this place!
