This is definitely one of my daughters favorite spots, I know absolutely nothing about well anything in there but..... The owners have always been warm, welcoming, and have always went out of the way to be beyond kind to her!!! They are really good people and I hope you can make your way in and look around, better yet, BUY SOMETHING!

Love the place has a lot of good anime figures and other anime items but my only issue is the dragon ball figure that are really marked up, especially the manga dimension, just a quick search on ebay or mercari and you’ll find them for almost 70-90% cheaper, i understand you have to make profit but it’s a bit excessive. EDIT: Gonna change from 4 to 5 just because i’m impressed in how the store looks and how much new item he gets before some of the other anime store around with him being a small business, i also want to take back what i said about him marketing up because after going back after awhile ive notice that the prices have gone down to what they usually sell for still obviously you can find them a little cheaper but of course a store has to make profit which i respect. Again a great store if you need find a figure or anything else related to anime

So my co-worker and I decided to stop here after lunch one day. And we had a really good time. Adam (the owner) was really nice and helpful in getting us started on playing Pokemon. We've been back many times since. They let us play our card games at the tables, are available to answer our questions. What I really like is Adam and Charlene are very knowledgeable about all the card games and anime stuff they feature. They help us out with the rules, and give their suggestions on building our decks, what kind of things to look for.
They have tons of anime figurines, and they're all very reasonably priced. You can get a really cool figurine for much cheaper than I've seen other places, especially online. They also have more expensive ones, but it's nice to have cheaper selections also.

I really like this place, I hope it sticks around, my wife and I have gotten super into the Pokemon trading card game, and this is a great place to enjoy the community

going to this shop a few times now and have nothing but really good experiences! the atmosphere is amazing, the people there are kind and help you out if they can, the shop owner gets along with his customers well, and the small community they’ve been able to build have been very supportive to all first timers wanting to play any TCG or veterans who’ve been playing TCG for years now. fair deals and prices on all cards, figures, etc. if you want a good spot to hangout and make new friends, this is the place to be! remember to always support your local business!

I've been coming into this store for a little over a year now. Ever since my first visit where the owner Adam started talking to me about a brand new TCG game that was coming out, every experience I've had has been great. The store has every Otaku need available. The atmosphere of the store is always welcoming. The owner Adam is all about making his store a place for any type of Otaku fandom welcoming and inviting no matter the day. Also more often than not, there are customers that shop there and hangout that will carry on any conversation with anybody that walks in the door. Even with the continuing growth of the online stores that many people including myself will purchase things from, there's something about having somebody or a place that you feel that you can share those passions with others. Many times I've come in and just spent hours talking various different anime and things about them with Adam and fellow customers; and there's never been a conversation I've regretted
It is definitely a small business that Hickory and North Carolina as a whole should be proud of.

I always feel welcomed in this store. I am always greeted and assisted when needed. I love how there is different inventory and I can always find something that I like. The owners are very nice and humble and it gives off a great vibe! I will definitely keep going back!

Truly a great store! Not only do they offer huge selections of
licensesed TCG Games, anime figures, funko and much more at great prices, they host sanctioned tournaments, board game nights, Trivia nights and a Youth Pokémon League where no experience is necessary, they'll teach you! I love that the whole family can go and enjoy a ton of fun and that anyone is welcome to use space at one of their game tables to play or build a deck or even join in on a game with others already be there.

The store is by FAR the best store in a large radius for collectibles, tcgs, knickknacks, and the little events have a great community. I really hope the owner puts more into marketing or event planning with an actual marketing plan rather then a single FB post. I hope this place is here FOREVER, genuinely good people. Just concerned at the random time openings and whether the store is a priority for the owner (I know life happens, but it seems like the place might be an afterthought a lot if times). Again, I love this place though top tier selection and pricing. Support your local LGS

I absolutely love Adam and Charlene! They are the most caring people. I took my oldest son in there to find Pokémon stuff and it was such a pleasant experience! They were patient with him and helped him find everything he wanted and needed. As we were leaving he saw a figurine he wanted and Adam just gave him one! No charge at all. He said he had alot in the back! Corin was so estatic. This is the only place I will take him!

Amazing selection for all Tcg collecters. Shop owner is super knowledgeable on history of Pokémon and is a great environment to play the game or just hang out. Highly recommend to check it out. 👍

Let me first of say that I wish I could leave higher than 5 stars.
I have just started shopping at otaku this year and it is without a doubt the BEST tcg/hobby/all around hangout spot in the area by a land slide! The prices are very fair and Adam is very reasonable with the buying/trading aspect of the store. And let me tell’ya Otaku has the BIGGEST selection of figures/statues, pops gundams pretty much anything your heart could desire as an anime fan and so much more. I personally have just started to learn to play several tc games and everyone has been so kind and so helpful! Adam and Charlene have patiently answered sooo many questions and have been such a huge help with deck building and overall just wonderful people and great business owners! Evan staying open over an hour to let us finish our game one night! If you are looking for a great place to learn/play games, make friends and truly have a great safe fun time then look no farther than the otaku hangout!

Took my son here to check out the Pokémon cards and we had a ball!! He picked out his own cards and pulled some from the machine as well. Bonus points for the extremely well priced FNAF merch-we will be back for that next trip. He scored two Pokémon balls from the claw machine inside and that made his day. Thank you so much to the owner for answering all my 7 year olds questions with such patience and kindness. Can’t wait to go back!!

This place is a little gem for us nerds in the Hickory Plaza! Not only are the owners super chill and nice, but this has been a fun place for my husband and I to get together with friends and play Pokémon 😎 definitely recommend if you're in the area! 😊

I found this place on a whim while looking for somewhere for my son to purchase Pokémon cards. It was such a pleasant experience. The selection is amazing, and the owners were so kind and informative! My son left with the biggest smile on his face. We will most definitely be back, and I will be telling others about it!

Just went to a Pokémon tournament on Wednesday for the first time I’m also new to Pokémon but I had an awesome time everyone was super nice! Highly recommend! 👍

Otaku Hangout had an elaborate collection of Funko Pops. It was obvious that the Pops in stock were chosen with a lot of thought behind them. I found collectibles that caught my interest almost immediately. The overall culture of the store was very welcoming and when it was time to check out, the clerk was very personable. I look forward to when I can go back again.

I've been going to The Otaku Hangout for a couple months now, and every visit that I make to Otakus I find more and more things that interest me. They have just about anything a nerd can ask for. They have such a wide variety to choose from! On top of that, the level of professional and kindness that they give isn't really seen from other stores in their line of work.
