This couple of owners are great. She is Chinese and he is Korean, so the options there align. They are willing to help you find things and order stuff for you. They have Kimchi that they get frequently from Chicago that is really Korean kimchi. The selection for a small store is good and they have back stock coolers and freezers so if something is out ask they may have more. But of the owners have great English, so communication is easy if you don't speak Korean or Mandarin, but they also both love it if you practice with them.

Great selection and cheaper than ordering from an online place like Amazon with the benefit of supporting a local business.

Staff was very helpful and speaks English if you have questions, as well as most items having English labels that make it easier to find what you are looking for.

It’s a little smaller than some other markets - but much cleaner and better organized. My wife works in pest control - and this is the only local Asian market I am allowed to buy from.

Some bulk items are available as well - like large boxes of premium instant noodles.

Best local Asian market - take a trip over and get something you love, or try something new!

Wang's has customer friendly, itemized descriptions near most items. Environment is clean and accommodating for a varied experience of produce, meats, spices and sauces, and dry goods.

I like this store! A lot of items that I am looking for that are hard to find at a regular grocery store. I wish they had more of a variety of fresh produce. But overall a great Asian store! Sometimes they have Aloha juices and teas if you are from Hawaii you know! 😉

Small store that manages to have a huge selection. Owners are super friendly and happy to answer questions. Would definitely recommend especially if you like supporting local business instead of Amazon.

Wang’s is our go-to Asian market in Des Moines and central Iowa. We spent several great years in Korea, and Wang’s has the same vibe and merchandise as the small to medium sized grocery shops over there. They also have other Asian fare, but the Korean is what I know best. Definitely recommend Wang’s for all those Asian food needs that never seem to leave you once you’ve had them.

Love this store, owner is very nice and helpful! I’ve noticed price increases over the last year, but that’s basically everywhere. Lots of good finds here, if you’re trying to level up your Asian food game this is a good place to start (and support local!)

Great prices, great products, great service. You can’t use a card under $20, but for the quality and quantity of things you can get here consistently it’s worth it by far! It’s my kiddo’s favorite treat to go and find new things to try, new things to ask about, and exploring different cuisines.

They’re even more than willing to give advice on how to use their products and recipes!

Very nice market. Much smaller than others in town. Yet, they pretty much everything you need. Two ways that they stand above other Asian markets in Des Moines are: 1) They have English signs on most items. 2) English speaking staff. The extra bonus was friendly staff. I will shop here again.

Paula (the owner) is the SWEETEST lady ever! Always helps up find the things we need. Let's up know when things are coming in. How to cook certain things. Asks how things are for us. We go every week like clockwork! This is the go-to local Asian shop for us!

Wang’s was recommended to me as a place to find spices I needed for making my own kimchi.

Not only did I find what I was looking for, I also left with a handful of things to try. The snack I ate on the way home was delicious and I’m excitedly to try the soups I bought for later.

Very nice store with lots to choose from! The owners were so very helpful and pleasant. I was looking for a particular dipping sauce and she showed me an alternative that was very good. I tried it tonight and it was excellent. Very clean inside and well maintained. Definitely would visit again.

One of my favorite Asian markets in the Des Moines area. The staff there are very friendly, and they have a great selection, especially for candy and snacks! They do have a lot of things in a small area, so accessibility may be an issue for some folks.

Best Asian market I've ever been to. We go here probably once a week. The owner is super nice and incredibly helpful. She knows where everything is and can give you great tips on how to use the ingredients. There are bigger places in the area but we only go here. I cannot recommend it enough.

Went in for one thing and came out with so much more I’ve been looking for! Loved this little shop and will and have already recommended it to some family and friends. Already planning to go back. There was so much to look at and even more I want to try. Super nice and helpful people! Can’t wait to return.

Wangs is the best Asian grocer on the west side! The owner is always very helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to asian cuisine. Always a good place to start if you are looking to cook up some Asian food at home!

The people who work here are awesomely helpful! They walked with me through the store, explained exactly what I needed to make sushi and even gave me some tips. I've been here multiple times and highly recommend them!!

I make it a habit to visit ethnic grocery stores whenever I find them; on my yearly trip to Des Moines I stopped at Wangs and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a tiny store but it’s located in a great place, servicing the western Des Moines metro area when other Asian markets are closer to downtown. Wang’s also had an amazing selection of Ramen and other noodles for a store his size. Packaged Ramen not your thing? I checked: they have basically everything you need to create a great homemade Ramen as well.

I’d complain about how much stuff is stacked into such a small space and how it can be hard to get around but hey; it’s for the sake of maximizing their small amount of space to get more product out there, so I can deal with it.

Most impressive to me was that they stock Asahi beer, a Japanese beer that’s really hard to find despite the fact that they have a brewery in Canada specifically to cater to the North American market.

Prices are knocked up a notch compared to the C Fresh Market but if you don’t want to deal with the headache of that area of town, Wangs is a great place to shop for your typical Asian food needs. Will be returning next year!
