My favorite bookstore in San Francisco (and that is saying something)! I've taken my team and many friends here esp when walking towards Dolores Park or on a lunch break. Always has nice foot traffic and discounted titles outside in a cart while the inside is piled with treasures. Literary events, friendly staff and I can stop by anytime and reliably buy an Italo Calvino book for a friend (or for myself)

Dog Eared Books is The Classic, extensive vintage, the timeless bookstore experience. Outstanding museum of literature.

good selection of new and used books. However, I am not sure if it’s clear what the prices are on the used books as they didn’t have a visible price.

i opted for two new books with visible sticker pricing. great employee recommendations near the entryway.

did not see any doggies in the store during my visit. it is more of a stop and shop store. you cant really stick around and read your book here as it is squishy (which is not a problem as theres lots of great parks and coffee shops nearby.)

overall five stars for cool ambience, selection, and lots of friendly employees happy to help you. only feedback is, as a new customer, i was not able to find clear pricing on used books.

I absolutely adore Dog Eared Books. A gem of the Mission, it is by far one of the most special bookstores I have ever set foot in. It's relatively small, but its shelves are lined with all killer, no filler. I could spend hours just browsing. The staff are extremely passionate about what they do. I had the pleasure of overhearing one employee respond to a customer's request for weird fiction recommendations. The way he waxed poetic about various novels, describing with childlike glee the depths of their strangeness, betrayed a sense of meaning and purpose. That individual was made to sell books.

Wonderful bookstore with a wide diverse collection of new and used books, friendly staff. Although it looks small, you can get lost for hours. I’ve bought cookbooks, sheet music, poetry, beautiful old paperback fiction, and more! Always a discovery to be had.

I was walking towards Dolores Park on a hot day when I spotted this book store. The name was clever, so I stopped in to take a look. It's a very nice and cozy bookstore. There were journals, notebooks, novels, fiction, non-fiction etc. It's a small store but packed with so much. I had to remind myself that I was doing a lot of walking that day so I couldn't go overboard in purchasing books. The employee was helpful and welcoming.

Great bookstore, going against Kindle and Amazon’s rampage against small establishments.
The staff picks were all amazing and the vibes were fantastic.
Kinda thought there would be a dog, a little sad that there wasn’t— but overall a really fun experience!

I loved this place! They have many interesting books about many topics and some queer literature hidden gems 💎 ✨ They even have a Japanese manga and comic section with some books for those who are into BDSM and more dark topics like "The Sandman."

It's not a big shop, but it's easy to get lost looking at the carefully curated selection of books here, like vintage paperbacks from the 1950s tucked away in the back. There's also interesting art, masks, and other collectibles on the walls, hanging from posts, or displayed on top of the shelves.

This bookstore is in an awesome area! Walking around Valencia is always great! This is a must stop for anyone who enjoys a good read. They have a good book selection of books.

They have a large selection of used books, which is organized alphabetically… If you are in the constant search in the used section you know how great this is.

Their Spanish section is small compared to other bookstores in SF. Which also doesn’t make sense since this serves a Spanish speaking community.

Their critical race studies and political reads section is one of the best around!

Also they have a good magazine section! They have the San Franciscan issues available here.

Excellent 'old-fashioned' bookstore with a wide selection and well-sorted books. New and used items available - hardcovers, graphic-novels, all there. Staff was friendly and competent.
If you like good bookstores, this is the place!

cute little bookstore, loved the interior that had tons of windows to let the sunlight in. great used section and my cashier was so kind and actually found the first book in a series i was interested (i almost bought the 3rd book lol)

also loved the 'zine' section and picked up a funny little one on the infallibility of the popes lol.

Dog Eared Books is a wonderful bookstore! This little bookshop tucked away in the city, has to be one of my favorites. They have a wonderful staff, and great titles to choose from. I really enjoy the atmosphere. I'm really drawn to the titles from local authors that they carry. The environment is welcoming, and you can get lost in this place for hours.. Please support your local businesses.

So many good books there!!! I wanted so many books but my budget wouldn't let me 😭💔 There's books there for everyone! The "Employees Picks" section was so intriguing I wanted to get all of those books. Amazing little book store I loved it! Next time I come to Sam Francisco I'll be coming back! The books I got there are in images!

Went here for the first time and loved it! The selection is vast, organized, and cultured.
It would be so easy to spend an entire afternoon here, can’t wait to go back!
