Mellis cafe

I was in San Francisco for a conference in January and Mellis Cafe happened to be near where the conference was. I decided to try it out and I'm so glad I did. I got sandwiches and the egg and cheese bagel two different days. I also tried their desserts. Their Turkish delight was probably the best I've eaten and I'm originally from Turkey. Their baklava was the best baklava I ate in the US only to be beaten by homemade baklava in my home country. I also tried two other desserts that I don't remember the names of and they were delicious as well. They get top scores on desserts. The egg bagel and sandwiches were good but I can't say they were great. The food came out pretty quickly every time though and that's an important plus for me. The price was also super reasonable. The only downside is they don't have much seating available. That wasn't an issue thankfully since not many people seem to be interested in sitting down. Most people just grabbed their food to go when I sat down one time to eat. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience and recommend them, especially if you want good baklava or desserts.

We found this cute little sidewalk cafe with great prices, friendly service and everything we wanted. We came back because it was so nice. They're open early to late with breakfast sandwiches to cakes and amazing Turkish delight selections.

Right across the street from Parc55 and perfect coffee and croissant spot. Everyone we met was so kind and the coffee is good, the croissants were delicious.

Excellent bagels - toasted to perfection, fresh and generous fillings and quick, friendly service with a smile. Very reasonably priced with a few outdoor tables - better than hotel breakfast!

What a gem of a cafe and right next to the Nikko Hotel! I was looking for a quick bite to eat and stumbled upon this place at lunch time. As upbeat Arabic pop music played in the background, I surveyed the vast selection of exotic looking pastries packing the front display. I looked up at the menu and was happy to find out that they have a complete sandwich menu as well. I ordered a sliced turkey on toasted sourdough with the works added in to go. I took the sandwich back to the hotel and opened it up to see a beautifully made sandwich ready to be wolfed down. A big thumbs up for both the food and the friendly staff.

Great coffee and they had a nice selection on cheesecake and other baked goods.

Delicious real coffee. They have organic coffee beans and deliciously roasted. Hard to find a god cup of coffee but Mellis' coffee is really good. All the pastries, bagels and sandwiches are good. They also have a selection of pastries and cakes. Excellent cafe! Keep it going guys!

Mellis Cafe is very friendly, super clean, the prices are good and the owner Mark and his daughter Melissa, which I learned the cafe is named after, are most hospitable, and the food is DELICIOUS! I ordered this egg, cheese, tomato and cucumber bagel and a carmel espresso, the best! -Joshua M.

Great coffee, pastries, and sweets near Union Square. Very good value for money in a very expensive city. The team of people working there are very friendly too! Highly recommended.

Chanced upon this when I was staying ar Parc 55. Was keen for a nice tuna sandwich but wanted something non bagel. Owner was so nice to make a delicious tuna sandwich with flat toasted wholegrain bread. Lovely indeed! Thank you for a nice meal

Reasonable prices. Fresh ice cream , kind owner. They also carry Turkish delights. 10/10 would go back. Great place to stop by especially if you are staying by Hilton Parc 55

I came across Mellis Cafe after a trip to the Walgreen's on Powell Street. I saw a small crowd outside and checked out the reviews online and saw only 5s on all review websites and said I might as well give it a try. It is located across the street from the back entrance of these Parc 55 hotel. This is just an ordering counter and kitchen. There are 2 tables outside. This is strictly a to go location. There are several pastries, the chocolates croissant is the best I ever had. It is an explosion of chocolate. When it comes to the savory options (breakfast sandwiches, bagel sandwiches, etc), all food is fresh and made to order. All other coffee shops in the area (Alfred's, Starbucks, Pete's) have premade food that is warmed up. The egg and cheese bagel I had was very good. I had iced tea and it was very good and they use a biodegradable vegetable straw versus paper (game changer). The staff is all very friendly. I will be back, time and time again!

Small but excellent selection of pastries. If you like pistachio, come here! Everything we tried was really good!
