Island Jerk

The food here is always amazing! Best ox tail in Roanoke that I've tried so far! The rice is very well seasoned and delicious. Cabbage is cooked perfectly. The jerk chicken is spicy without being over powering and the guy who runs the shop is absolutely hilarious to talk to! 10/10

This unassuming place packs a huge punch of flavour.
Walking up to Island Jerk you may not think much of it, it's in a trailer in a parking lot, very easy to drive by. But seriously you should stop in because the food is amazing. I got the ox tail and my husband got the jerk chicken and both were so flavourful and delicious. And the rice and beans were so good I would have been happy just eating them on their own!
Completely worth giving it a try, even going out of your way for. We can't wait to come back and try more!!

Been comin here for years best food in the city, me personally I get the Jerk plate every time chicken always cooked to perfection nice juicy and not to Spicy 🌶. The cabbage is definitely best I ever had with the juice on it rice and beans cooked to perfection ❤‍🔥... went downtown Roanoke today and checked out another spot 👎🏾 I should have just road to Melrose and got the best in the city island Jerk 🇯🇲

This is the real deal! Fantastic curry and jerk recipes. Fried plantains are delicious too. Worth the trip from anywhere in and around Roanoke! Generous portions at a reasonable price too.

I googled this place while traveling with my employer. And it was GREAT!! I had the oxtails with rice and beans and jamaican cabbage, coco bread and a beef paddy and it reminded me of the Islands. The oxtails are so tender and mouth watering. Also, the customer service was better than most of these big chain restaurants. I would definitely recommend Island Jerk. Thank you for feeding my soul.

So the place doesn't look like much but if you have ever been to Jamaica and gone to the real local places, this is what you might find. (In fact a little fancy in some cases.). The gentleman behind the counter was Jamaican, and everything on the menu was Jamaican. (My Jamaican friend was super ecstatic about the place - and that's really the best recommendation you need.) Can't tell you how the chicken tastes - but it's on the menu.

Wow! Just… oh, my God! We stumbled upon this place when our lack of planning a dinner reservation but us in the hooha. Scrambling, we looked to the left and saw a food truck. With low expectations, we ordered but were pleasantly-and I mean PLEASANTLY-surprised. The food was an explosion of flavors. I recommend the jerk chicken and curry chicken. The meat falls off the bone, the flavor is indescribably sensational, and the price is worth it. Trust me. My fiancé and I talk about this place expanding to a restaurant all the time. It should.

This place never lets me down. Their curry goat is the best. I simply can’t get enough of it. Living in Charlottesville makes me appreciate this place that much more because Charlottesville knows absolutely NOTHING about authentic Carribbean cuisine. The truck owner is cool. He comes off as a little irritable, but that’s only because he works so hard.

I’ve had real Caribbean food while traveling abroad and I’ve gotta say these people keep it authentic. From the moment you walk up and smell all the jerk chicken being grilled you know you’re in for a treat. The price was competitive and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend giving them a try you won’t be disappointed.

No frills takeout-only authentic Jamaican food. Give your kids a new experience and take them with you when you go. Sometimes I'll get a beef patty in the middle of the day instead of drive-thru food somewhere else.

The beef paties are delicious. I love the jerk chicken with extra spices and a large steamed cabbage. Great food !

I've eaten here 4 times and every time it gets better! The jerk chicken combo with cabbage, red beans and rice, to die for!! Try the spicy sauce. I don't do spicy but it's so tasty!

Oh so delicious, just divine, really great food. Mmmm! Excellent selections. Real authentic Jamaican Cuisines at this restaurant food truck. The owner, cooks, chef and jerk man are all Jamaicans. They will even cook your favorite JA cuisine not on the menu. Just call the owner to arrange preparation of your meal and they will let you know if and when it can be done.

Delicious, REAL Jamaican food. I mean, I can't say enough about how good this food is. One guy, in a little trailer on the corner of a parking lot, is some of the best food you have ever eaten. If you have never tried island food.... this is the best food experience you could ever have.

Stopped through here on our way back to Lynchburg, if your in Roanoke and haven't eaten here, you are missing out!!!! Absolutely amazing jerk chicken, and great curry chicken too!!! Will have to come back on our next outing.

I did not eat there but my son said the food was great little pricey but I was told I was worth it two big plates was $41.60. They do take cards cash
