Oriental House

I was pretty skeptical of this place once I read the recent reviews. I didn’t read them until we sat down in a completely empty restaurant in a Saturday night. I figured something had to be off if it’s this empty.
Honestly after eating it I’m surprised. The food was actually really good, and they we very nice. I got a tofu curry that was really good, and my daughter got some garlic noodles that they made special for her and some spring rolls. Everything was good. The food I’d say was a solid 4 stars, but the service boosted the overall experience to a 5.

The praram long song was very good! It’s chicken with peanut sauce over a bed of veggies like broccoli, cabbage, carrots, celery, and others, served with a bowl of rice. The menu has lots of dishes to choose from. The service was also good. Our server was attentive. The restaurant has a great location. I would recommend if you’re in the mood for Asian cuisine.

I ordered the tangerine chicken dish expecting something like the run-of-the-mill sweet and sour chicken with thick batter and a sweet sauce.
When it came out I was pleasantly surprised that the chicken was lightly battered, hot & crisp. The sauce was delicious with pineapple and mandarin oranges. While sweet, it is not overpowering as can happen with sweet and sour dishes. A very pleasant combination of flavors.
The crab Rangoon we ordered as an appetizer were delicious as well fried to a nice crispy texture.
The Mongolian beef was thin sliced and tender in a light sauce.

Food was absolutely amazing and the service was second to none! This will definitely be a restaurant we keep coming back to and telling everyone about. If you're downtown and not sure where to eat definitely come here! A wonderful hidden gem whos owner was very friendly and welcoming and made our experience very memorable!

My wife and I were treated like family by the owner when we ate here. Beyond the great atmosphere and generous owner, the food is amazing. Probably the best Asian/Thai food that I have ever eaten. The pad Thai is outstanding (medium is just hot enough to make you sweat a bit), the dumplings are homemade and perfectly cooked, and we tasted the drunken noodles which were out of this world. You cannot go wrong having a dinner out here.

This restaurant is outstanding!! We had the Roanoke chicken (incredible flavor!), shrimp curry (also remarkable), and drunken noodles (always delicious). It was just my wife and I, but we wanted leftovers to enjoy later and the food is very reasonably priced. The staff and owners are very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend and plan to be back very soon!

I stumbled onto this truly outstanding gem on a recent visit to Roanoke. Love Thai food and was not disappointed with my beef curry order. Delicious. Spring rolls were great. Service was outstanding. Wish I visited more often to Roanoke so I could dine here more often.

The owner told us that his restaurant has the best Thai food in the whole city, and he was right! Our food was amazing, and the prices were very reasonable! Beyond that, the restaurant was spotlessly clean. The owner took the time to tell us about various menu items, make recommendations, and tell us the history of the restaurant. There were not too many people there when my friends and I visited, but I got the impression he would have treated gusts with that level of hospitality even if the place was packed. I had the orange honey duck and it was delicious! Everyone in my party had a great meal (including delicious fried ice cream). You will certainly not be disappointed with a visit to Oriental House.

Food is absolutely wonderful! Our host was very attentive and friendly. We spoke with owner who is very knowledgeable in the culinary art field . Clean refreshingly organized restaurant. Have ordered for take out and regret not sitting in the restaurant sooner . Will be back !!

My adult sons and I have eaten here several times. Each time we have ordered different entrees simply to try new ones. None of us has been disappointed because every meal has been delicious! We like the dumplings for appetizer. The summer rolls are good too. We had Satay Chicken today -- It came with a thick peanut-flavored sauce on the side. That was really tasty and different in a good way. I think we've tried ten different entrees and all have been good, no matter if they had beef, shrimp, pork or chicken. Owners are proud of their food and want to know you like your meal. If you have a change you want made to the meal, just ask -- like no onions or zucchini, just ask when you order.

Absolutely amazing! The best drunken noodles I've ever had. I asked for it "as hot as you can make it" and got a dish that was very spicy--I thought it was going to be more than I bargained for. But the dish had a depth of flavor that mixed well with the heat AND the heat faded quickly, despite the initial spiciness. Will definitely be coming back for more.

The place was empty when we went but the food was delicious! We ordered green curry and spicy seafood and would recommend both of them.

Amazing food. This restaurant has authentic Chinese and Thai options. The sesame chicken and thai tea were both great. The owner was friendly and checked to make sure our food was correct and even brought us extra rice. Will definitely be back!

Had lunch on Saturday afternoon with my wife. Peter was warm and welcoming and made us feel at home during our visit. Everything was fresh and delicious. The dumplings were delicate and flavorful and the drunken noodles may be the best I’ve had. Best Asian food in Roanoke!

Picked this place randomly and absolutely awesome customer service. Food and hospitality was great. I am normally picky with my pad Thai but they definitely have excellent pad Thai and the mango sticky rice was very good also. I highly recommend and would come back.

2nd time back this week and service and food was definitely on point. Owner knows how to make customer feel at home.

Definitely the best Thai food in Downtown Roanoke. Their drunken noodles and Panang curry are some of the best I’ve ever had, and I love my Thai food. The service is spectacular and the owner is an incredibly kind Thai gentleman who truly loves his business. I would recommend this place to anyone!

We had dinner on a Friday night and loved the food and excellent service from Peter. The spicy beef salad was DELICIOUS, and I highly recommend trying it. Our entrees of Drunken Noodle and Pad See Ew were hot, fresh and yummy. Then we had mango sticky rice which was, again, DELICIOUS and I recommend trying it.

I was in town with a co-worker for a career fair at Virginia Tech. We decided on dinner at The Oriental House. I wish I could give Peter and his wife 10 stars. The food was delicious, and full of flavor. The service was amazin . Peter the owner made you feel like part of the family. Its a great place, clean and fun. if you're ever in Roanike, go try it out.

The very best , freshest ingredients , amazing owners and staff. You can tell that the sauces are all hand made and noodles super fresh. Dumplings are hand made and with the best ingredients. The highlight is Thai food but they make it all. Can’t lose with Pad Thai, Drunken noodle or the Pho. I just cant stop coming back. Definitely my favorite location for Thai in Roanoke. Get those dumplings !! Oh my gawd they are to die for !
