I had the risotto and it was excellent comfort food. Fresh vegetables and fruits gave it a different and wonderful flavor. Coffee is also top shelf. Usually I have two cups but their coffee was so satisfyingly good one was sufficient. No room left for dessert although that menu was tempting, maybe coffee and desert another time.

Fine dining staple in Amherst. Ribeye is outstanding. Best wine selection in town. Varied menu, charming dining area, elevated without pretentiousness.

Ate there for the first time in a while-had been put off by the limited menu. The owner John is has returned to being the chef and we can truly say he was wasted as a host. Everything we ordered from appetizers to salad to entree were intriguingly delicious, different, and definitely to our taste. We will be back soon!

Our first time back in a while. Everything was delicious! Delicious Nebbiolo, delicious salmon special with yogurt sauce ( which sounds weird but was great) delicious ragú, delicious almond cookies. Pleasant seats at the bar with an engaged but noninvasive bartender.

Great food and Excellent service. They are definitely short staffed but they do their best to serve all customers.

This is my favorite spot for a drink in town. The cocktails are always delicious, whether you select one off the menu or ask for something in particular, and the wine selection is well-curated. The beer list is small, but has some good options. I've always been happy with the food.

Currently, they are partially staffed, like many restaurants figuring out how to navigate the post-COVID world. Even when they were obviously busy, the staff were friendly and responsive. The menu is still limited, as well, but very good. The gazpacho is fantastic!

I cannot find any fault in the two times we have dined at Osteria Vespa. Both times, our server was Rob. He does an excellent job of making you feel appreciated. Overall, service was excellent.

On our first occasion, we had just drinks and various appetizers on the patio. We enjoyed every bit of the food. My only complaint is that the exhaust fans of the nearby Asian restaurant are a bit loud. Osteria Vespa cannot do anything about it and that is the way it goes. It is simply something that happens when in a busy place such as Amherst. Still, the patio was inviting, provided a pleasant atmosphere, and was a fine place to dine on a comfortable summer evening.

Since we enjoyed our first visit, we went back for a proper dinner. It was nice to have Rob again for our server. We were there on a Saturday night and the place was very busy. We ate indoors at the table in the back right corner, very nice.

We enjoyed a bottle of Negroamaro red wine. We began by splitting a Red Wine Poached Pear Salad and it was simply delicious, a great way to start. My wife had the Spaghetti Peasant Style with Vespa, and I had the Penne with slow braised local ground beef Ragout. Both dishes were made with fresh pasta and reminded me of meals I had eaten while dining in Torino Italy. I was glad my wife could not finish her dish as I ate the rest of it for lunch the next day.

My only suggestion for this wonderful restuarant is to find a way to incorporate one or two vegetarian options within your pasta selections.

We will return to Osteria Vespa in the future and bring friends.

We were lucky enough to recently hold, and celebrate our wedding at Osteria Vespa. Over the last year or so Vespa had become our go to date night place. The food is simply devine, and very consistent, and the staff is professional and friendly. We always felt at home eating out on the patio, or grabbing a quick drink and some tasty appetizers at the bar. We were overjoyed when the owner agreed to let us host our ceremony and reception at the restaurant. Throughout the entire planning processed, including one major covid hiccup, Jon and his staff supported our vision and made our big day nothing short of perfect. We highly reccomend everyone stop by and support our favorite local Italian spot, you will not be dissapointed!

Some of the best food in the valley. The atmosphere is perfect for a well deserved night out. If your looking for a treat in Amherst this is the place to be. Well stocked bar and knowledgeable staff too.

I took my parents-in-law here, and they loved it! It has a great menu, for a start, with some really delicious selections available. My wife loved the risotto, and my steak (and the pork shoulder I had the second time we went) were both perfectly cooked. They have a great selection of drinks, too, and an absolutely wonderful (and very generous) charcuterie board. The staff were all super friendly and helpful as well! Definitely vies with Chez Albert for my favorite restaurant in the area...

Love this spot! The atmosphere is wonderful. The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu changes frequently and has great options. We stopped by tonight and despite being understaffed they still did not disappoint!

Amazing find after watching NCAA Soccer today. Good "Dark & Stormy" drink. The cheese, meat and olives with hummus and pita bread was superb.

Daughter is a vegan and we called ahead to find out if they had anything for her and they said they would do whatever we needed to feed her. They took care of us and we loved everything and would go back (but we love 300 mile's away). Staff was so nice and accommodating. Go go go!

The best Italian food—by far!—in the area. Nothing else in Amherst or Northampton comes close.

The American-style garlic bread was a treat. The beet and burrata salad is well-balanced, the eggplant parmesan is nicely breaded and cooked, the panna cotta was smooth and delicate.

It’s good to know there’s at least one good place for Italian food!

A solid four stars, but five given in comparison to anything else out there.

Extremely nice environment, great food, fancy and well-kept atmosphere. I always take my grandparents to this restaurant and they think it's great. Very good for a date or birthday dinner.

This restaurant is the best in the Valley. Their menu is much more innovative than other restaurants in the area. The drinks are great, too.

Had a superb meal here three days ago. Beautiful bresaola for a starter. Crusty bread with first-class olive oil for dipping. A grilled tuna steak, with chick peas and broccolini, each perfect, but served in a heavenly sauce that tied it all together. Also had a cinammon (!) Old Fashined that was terrific, a really good glass of Argentinian Chardonnay (ditto), and a smooth espresso. This was as good a meal as I've had since I was in Umbria. Going back tomorrow!
