Whether it's lightbulbs, or sealant, or copper sink scrubs, I can trust R.W. Shattuck to help me. However, I wanted to compliment them particularly on one of their team: Sean's focus and drive with car key repair/replacement. I have a Honda Fit, and the plastic key fob breaks every once in a while. That means I need someone to use a "blank" to create a new key. Ace provides me excellent customer service and focused expertise. Sean, for example, is patient with customers and just doesn't give up. He even approaches parts vendors if he feels something is just off. As a hardware customer, he's the type of person I can rely on , and I'm glad to know R.W. Shattuck has folks like him available when customers run into trouble.

Shattuck is my go-to hardware store. They've got plenty of selection across most all departments including a great loose hardware selection. Friendly and knowledgeable staff too.

The staff is what really makes this my “go-to” store for household projects. They are so patient with my “I broke this ____” or I’m trying to build a thing that does ____” questions. And they almost always have great suggestions and the right tools/parts. One time they even sent me to a different type of store to get a better solution because they wanted to help me do it right - that’s always a really good sign of a great store.

Mark gave me the most outstanding service possible. A couple of nuts and bolts were loose on my roof rake, I've had to stop raking frequently to tighten them. But one nut and bolt disappeared into the snow last weekend - so i had to replace them and replace a rusty slightly broken butterfly screw as well. Mark not only found the right nuts and bolts, washers and screw, he put everything together to make sure they were all the right size. What a nice man! So knowledgeable and helpful. Shattucks is lucky to have such a smart and hardworking and helpful team member. Arlington is lucky to have this store.

Very clean, neat, and well stocked store. Employees were patient and accommodating.

Very friendly neighborhood hardware store. They won't have anything big like appliances and lumber for the most part but they will have everything else you need to take on a project.

Staff is very helpful and very able to help you navigate the store (which is much bigger than you might expect).

Great place for all your hardware and things you can't find anywhere else!

I've never been to an Ace I didn't like and this store is no exception. It has a large variety of tools and home products plus a fully equipped paint counter (I recently got a paint color matched here and the match was spot on). The actual physical size of the store is on the small side considering how much stuff is packed into it, so the aisles are pretty narrow and may be difficult to maneuver for those with physical accessibility challenges. All in all it is a great store, I can always find what I'm looking for and the employees are very helpful.

This place is just that . As the oldest business in arlington, they continue to deliver a high level if service combined with knowledge that brings you more than the big box stores can. I ordered and oversized 26”webber charcoal kettle from an ACE hardware which has been just an excellent grill. I had worn out the bottom charcoal grate . .Shattucks had two of these rarer grills in Stock and offered to take the bottom grate from one of these new units if i needed my part fast . Exceptional value reflected right there :)

I frequent this store. Almost every weekend. The staff is always very friendly and ready to help, except sometimes they're overwhelmed with the weekend crowd. The store has everything you'd need for projects, but not a big selection and no big-box things like toilets or doors. I'd be happier if they had tool rental. For a neighborhood hardware store - they're perfect!

Level of service at a big box store. Service representative, Ian helped me out with a new snow blower today after my old one decided to stop working. Less than an hour later, my driveway was clear.

Helpful staff, good selection at reasonable prices. Benjamin Moore paints, will make custom colors. They sell and exchange SodaStream CO2 canisters. They will also take fluorescent bulbs and non-automotive lead acid batteries for recycling. They can repair and rewire your home lamps with switch and wiring problems. Some comfortable and inexpensive plastic Adirondack chairs for summer.

Best hardware store around.

I am an only child of father who loved hardware, great granddaughter of a carpenter, granddaughter of a tool salesman. I am very much at home in a hardware store.
This one provides great service, utilizing technology for the benefit of staff & customers, & good advice.
An antique drawer knob I will use as a wall art piece & to hold a lightweight half of a window curtain back when needed. Specific size threaded screw on both ends needed. Done! I am so pleased.

Ask anyone in town and they'll recommend Shattuck as their go to hardware store. Everyone in the store is super friendly and will help get you what you need and explain how to use it.

Although the store seems small, they have almost everything you could need that would be in a big box hardware store.

Prices may be slightly higher, but they have coupons and it's worth paying slightly more for the service and supporting a local hardware store.

I was impressed with this place. I just bought a new house and have an intermediate level of knowledge on lawn care/landscaping. Ian and Kyle showed me what I needed and explained the different options based on their personal experience with the products which was great. They delivered it to me like an hour later and showed me how to use everything. Definitely recommended, definitely returning.
