Spoke Wine Bar

The best place to eat and drink in Boston? Totally worth sitting at the bar to make new friends? A place you should definitely make reservations at so as not to be disappointed? Only one way to find out : )

Had a lovely dinner at Spoke last night. Service was really great, as well as the small plate pacing. The highlights were definitely the sun choke donuts, carpaccio, and tomatoes with mushroom sauce and cheese whiz. The donuts tasted like grown up Funyuns, and the bites of carpaccio brought me back to eating a pastrami sandwich with mustard and pickles on the side at a Jewish deli. The tomatoes were super juicy, sweet, and refreshing, and played really well with the Smokey and savory sauce and cheese.

Wow, loved it. Came here for a belated Valentine's dinner. The service was excellent. Food was amazing and the wine was solid. I recommend the cabbage, the celeriac and the yams! Our cashew tart dessert with chocolate gelato (?) was also lovely. Thanks for a great experience!

Great little place for food and drinks. Lots of interesting take on food and good options for vegetarians. A little tight in space.

The food, wine and cocktails at spoke wine bar are incredible! Our favorite small plates were the bean dip, the tuna crudo and the cheese plate. The folks behind the bar can make any fabulous cocktail you want. We also asked for a wine suggestion and loved it. Be sure to get a reservation because it’s always packed. We will definitely be back!

Extremely kind and knowledgeable staff. The food is delicious and creative. A perfect spot for a celebration or just an average night out and never disappoints.

Great dinner here tonight. Loved the beaujolais I had and our server was great about recommendations for wine. we tried the bean dip, Sunchoke doughnuts, tuna crudo, manchego biscuit, chocolate dessert and mochi panna cotta.
All were very good. Stand outs were the bean dip and doughnuts. The bean dip was a crazy mix of savory and sweet that just worked. Cozy place with a nice bar a bit outside of Davis.

I think Spoke is the restaurant I like most in the city. The place looks gorgeous inside, the service is fun, but impeccable. The food is always perfectly prepared. Even if a dish isn’t my favorite, I know it’s cooked correctly. They’re always changing the menu and trying different weirdo things with their dishes. Lots of great restaurants coast on a couple old standards and that’s fine. Spoke is always pushing food forward.

Overall a solid experience. Service staff was attentive and knowledgeable. We very much enjoyed the bean dip, mackerel and pudding dessert. The other dishes were thoughtfully constructed and had unique flavors. We didn’t love the terrine. I’d go back.

Had selection of finger foods and non-alcoholic cocktails. Service was supremely friendly, indulgent almost to the point of pampering. Music was loud enough to mildly impair conversation.

The wine here is delightful and the pour size was very fair. Some negative reviews on the wine portions turned me off, but I had no such issue on my visit. Reservations are necessary for prime time hours, but my group snagged a 4-person table on Saturday after 6pm without one. The bar seating is always an option for those without reservations. The food is small plates style and very decadent. Try the raw wagyu beef and the cheese board! Price only gets high if you come really hungry; otherwise, its reasonable.

Great, attentive servers and intriguing dishes (carpaccio with ANTS). Cocktail list with a handful of creative novelties.

My only complaint is that they appear to have gendered single occupancy restrooms.

Everything else about this place was amazing. It wasn't too loud. There were no TV screens to distract me. The service checked in often, were helpful and polite and knowledgeable and efficient. The cocktails were delicious (they have a flip on the menu!) , the desserts divine, the plates well presented and full of tasty and interesting food. There was no pressure to leave once we'd finished our meal (a somewhat busy Thursday night, but most people had left by 10.)

i’d say a hidden gem but its not really hidden so just a gem. Cozy wine bar with delicious, inventive food. Dishes that are more than just wine bar snacks or tapas portion plates. The staff were very kind, attentive and knowledgeable. My husband is dairy free and there were plenty of options for him. The place was buzzing even at the early hour of 5:30. I only wish we had come sooner because we’ve been missing out on some tasty food and wine. The cocktail list was tempting and I love a good cocktail but I felt that I had to start with wine at a wine bar. Clearly Spoke is not “just a wine bar” though. Can’t wait to come back and try more if everything.

I have now been back as often as I possibly can. I have brought my child who is vegetarian, my husband who eats no dairy, and my friend who has a severe gluten allergy and the staff from
front of house to the kitchen have been extremely diligent in letting us know what items on the menu would be ok for each dietary restriction. They don’t just bring out pre-made alternate gf options they make crackers that are gluten-free in house to serve with the cheeses and dips. Much of the menu is already well rounded so that it fits in with people’s needs and the kitchen is careful to swap out the grill when needed for gluten allergies.

This space never ceases to amaze the senses. Cocktails are well thought out and an entire experience by themselves. To enhance your cocktail experience they offer small plates which are packed with flavor and seasonal themes. It's a small kitchen but that crew can crank out the plates! Staff is very friendly, love to talk about flavors and is quick to help you decide which drink to order next based on flavor preference. (You must try the mushroom spirits!)

Myriad exquisite flavors in a fairly low-key atmosphere with kind, patient, & knowledgeable staff. Been wanting to come here for years. Glad to have experienced this place. Get the red snapper crudo as a dessert (if you are more into savory)-- it was divine.

Unique and interesting, without a doubt one of the gems of greater Boston. Food and drink always on point, constantly refreshed menu and cocktails with a great focus on local and delicious. Run by amazing people, don't miss out!

Love the ambiance and the service. The person who waited on us was friendly and had some insightful wine suggestions for us. We loved the food and the wine.

The cutest spot in Davis Square!! I always make a point to come here when I'm back in the area, and it never disappoints. The wine selection is fabulous, the service is always friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is perfect. I love how they now have the outdoor seating available along the street. What is better than having a nice glass of wine and people watching in Somerville?! When I was there recently, the inside was still closed to customers to sit, but they will serve you wine while you wait for an outdoor table which is awesome. I don't normally get food there, but when I have, it's been delicious. Spoke is the best and it's right next to Dave's Fresh Pasta!!

Many delicious small plates with interesting taste combinations.
Some dishes had a warm component and a cold component -- but the cold component would have been better at room temperature rather than refrigerator temperature.
For a wine bar, rather small selection of wine by the glass (only 4 reds, for example).
We were VERY HAPPY that they require proof of COVID vaccination -- that makes us a lot more comfortable to share a cozy indoor space (though of course it's not a guarantee).
