I love this place! I've had to visit Cambridge for work twice in the past six months and stayed at Prentiss House both times. The price is great, the rooms are lovely (relaxed modern design! actually cool hotel art!), it's super conveniently located (15 minute beautiful walk to Harvard Square, right next to the super cool restaurant/bar Dear Annie, easy to get to). The self-check in works really well, and communication is seamless. I had my car with me the second time and parking was also easy. Recommend!

We enjoyed our stay but we are low maintenance people and don’t need many amenities so not seeing any staff was not an issue for us. Luckily everything worked fine so we didn’t need to contact anyone so can’t really speak about that. Room was super clean and bed was comfortable. As other reviews mentioned tissues in the room would be nice. Location was perfect for our Cambridge’s based adventures and an east T ride to downtown Boston. Text and email communication was thorough and timely!

Beautiful hotel. Old renovated mention. The garden rooms are really big. Very nice common places for eating and relaxing. Free water. Great location for Harvard. Stayed twice and would love to visit again.just notice that the rooms are cleaned every three days….

Prentiss House was just wonderful! There are a variety of room types to fit the occupant’s needs. Our room looked exactly like the posted photos and were very clean. Though there were no hosts on site whenever I emailed them about some thing, it was taken care of right away. The location was perfect. Restaurants, stores, and colleges were nearby. We rented a car and paid extra for their parking but next time we will use public transportation because driving is crazy.

My favorite hotel/inn in Cambridge. Facilities are impeccable, the room is spacious and comfortable (room 17), and shared spaces are well-equipped. Since this isn't a luxury hotel, not having a check-in/concierge desk wasn't much of an issue. Staff was readily available via email.
I've stayed in most hotels in the area, but Prentiss House is the one I'll be returning to.

The Prentiss House is a great find! I would definitely recommend it. The location is easy access to everything, the room was nice, quiet, private and when the weather is nice (it was snowing when we were there) it would be nice to sit in the outside areas. They were very good with communication throughout the stay. The only two less than perfect issues: the pillows are too overstuffed and my daughter and I could not use them, and the paid parking is challenging. It took me several minutes to get out of the parking area because the area is very tight. It said "compact" car only AFTER i rented my car and after I paid for the 2 days of parking. We had a bigger car which may be why we had challenges in the parking area with the spot we had. That said, it was still better than trying to find parking on the street at the end of a late night, or a long day. Overall, this is a great place.

What a clever way to use txt to communicate the basics. Saves money for all and in the end makes total sense. Super clean, spacious room with mini kitchen. Incredible neighborhood just block from good coffee shop and a few blocks from Harvard. Definitely would come again. Parking underneath Super tight; Definitely bring a smaller car if you can!

Great location in quiet part of neighborhood! Very comfy room and quite spacious. Only negative was that walls are thin so you can hear other guests walking/using bathroom quite easily. But for the most part it wasn’t during early or late hours, so not a huge deal.

I stayed there last week for one night and really liked it !!
Kiarah was nice enough to give me early possession of the room, but one can also leave their bags in the main sitting area under the stairs, in case the room is not ready. Communication via phone and text was convenient and the responses were fairly prompt - always helpful!
Loved the homey B&B vibe (but w/o the breakfast! Altho they did hv a coffee machine in the central lobby with free water and snacks - chips packets). There is a fireplace in that central lobby which walks out into a cute patio area in the back.
My room on the second floor, was spacious and well appointed. Even had a lightweight standing fan to use in case it got hot or stuffy. (Wish there was a full length mirror somewhere tho...did I miss it?)
I was accommodated again at check out and then was able to leave my bag in the lobby until the late afternoon/eveng since my flight was later in the day. They even located my umbrella that I had misplaced and left it near my bags!
The location was perfect for me since my daughter lives in the harvard dorm campus at the quad which is just a 5-7 min walk.
It is conveniently located just off of Mass Ave on Prentis st and even tho it is just the second building in, was quiet both at night, and in the morning (my room was street facing)
There are tons of eating places within 1-2 blocks;, a coffee shop and Walgreens right across the str (Starbucks a block and a half away)
Harvard square is a 15 min walk, so also Harvard yard and the science center. The museum of natural history a few mins under!
There are also 7-8 covered parking spaces that I saw, for which one has to pay extra - but what a convenience!
I plan on staying there again during graduation week next month and hope to have an equally good experience!

We came to Cambridge to be near Harvard. Prentiss was a quick bus ride or a moderate walk to Harvard. There are plenty of places to eat and shop at around the hotel too. The hotel is beautiful and was decorated so well for the holiday season! The room we had was perfect for us and I loved all the decor. I also loved that the bed was in the loft so that I could still sleep while my daughter worked on her computer downstairs. The bed was comfortable and the mini kitchen had everything we needed to eat in the hotel. The fridge was a good size! Not the itty bitty ones at other hotels. The room was clean when we arrived. Checking in and out was easy. Even though there is no one at a service desk the hotel is very responsive by text. We didn’t miss having a front desk at all.
In the lobby there is the cutest sitting area with a fire place that I liked to read by. We would recommend this place and come again!

I’ve stayed here for 3 weeks over multiple stays.
This is by far the best place to stay in Cambridge based on quality, location and price.
The location is fantastic, right off Mass Ave and walking distance to everything.
Very spacious room, especially compared to surrounding hotels.

What a gem to find in Cambridge! After many expensive hotel stays, the Prentiss House was a warm welcome. Comfortable, clean and quiet — with the simplicity of everything I needed for a business trip.

Blown away. Completely automatic self-check-in process. Smart locks. Pristine. Tasteful. Understated but luxurious. I will never stay anywhere else in Cambridge again. As good as it gets.

It was absolutely fabulous! All the things you hope for clean friendly people. Nice little treats in the room bottle of wine and chocolate in a really good water bottle. Comfortable bed wonderful big deck with lots of seating areas right outside our room. We use that even though we only stayed one night, great location very convenient shops around and restaurants. Enjoy it!

Such a great stay at Prentiss House this weekend! Everything was perfect- rooms are beautiful & newly redone, close walking distance to both Harvard & Porter Square, and tons of cool bars & restaurants right outside the front door. The "light staff" was awesome and extremely responsive for anything we needed. Also, rooms are totally sound proof as we stayed in Room 1 right by the front door and never heard any outside noise.
I recommend to everyone!

We loved our stay here! Super accessible and easy to walk to the heart of Cambridge and get to Boston. The space is really beautiful - very historical feel. There is a nice common room/lobby area for WFH with coffe/tea and a beautiful outdoor patio that I imagine is really great when the weather is warm

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Prentiss House. We were in town for the Head of the Charles Regatta and enjoyed the walkable location. Also easy access to the bus. The T (Porter Square) was a five minute walk. It was also lovely to come back and have many restaurants to choose from. We ate some delicious Chinese takeout in the parlor one rainy night when we didn't want to venture out. We liked the ground floor location and access to the outdoor patio. There was a small bottle of wine in the room for us as well as fancy tea. There a Nespresso maker in the butler's pantry off the parlor. There are no fridges in the rooms, but I think guests were able to put things in the fridge in the butler's pantry. There's ice available, too. We were separate from the main house so we didn't hear people coming and going. We could hear cars pull in to the parking area that was below our room. I checked out the parking area. It was well lit. Gravel surface, with an incline up to the house. ($35 a night, reserve in advance). Might be tricky for someone with mobility challenges. The house has a ramp, so easier access to the house. Overall, it was a very quiet, peaceful location. Great bed and pillows. Quiet hours are from 9:30 to 8:00 am. I was worried because so many emails seemed to warn that it's a remotely managed property. But someone was there to reply to texts. I have stayed in several places in Boston and Cambridge. I would definitely stay here again!

So close to Lesley U Porter Campus plus T station at Porter Square. Have stayed in winter and summer. It's quiet and just off Mass Ave so restaurants, walgreens and other stores are a few blocks. It's minimal staff so if you want room service, 24/7 desk staff and housekeeping every day this isn't the place. But some rooms have fridge, microwaves, sitting areas, work desks so everything busy student or biz type needs.

Perfectly located near Harvard plus lots of places to shop and dine. Hotel was super clean and management was easy to communicate with when needed. First time to stay here but it won’t be the last.

Very charming inn located in an historic house dated from 1848. The rooms are very nicely appointed, I appreciated the nice Nespresso machine at the lobby’s kitchen, there is also there a common fridge where I could store my milk.
Customer support is very good, I contacted them by text message because there was bulb missing and they fixed it in a few hours.
They have a nice lunge downstairs where they organized a happy hour on Friday afternoon and a breakfast on Saturday morning. I don’t know if this is usual or it was just because this was the Head of The Charles regatta weekend
I will definitely come back to this place, it is much reasonable priced than the hotels around and much more comfortable
