****Happy to report it's been approximately 4 months since I wrote this review of our initial appt/consult & Daisy is still with us. She made it through her 12th birthday!!! We really didn't think we'dsee it based on how much she was suffering. Due to her age & diagnosis surgery would be super difficult for her to survive with no guarantees on outcome, plus it would have to be done elsewhere with a very, very high cost. We've opted since to listen to her & to continue with comfort care. She's got her energy back along with her appetite & isn't in excruciating pain constantly. All of her previous providers left her like that. I'm so glad we found Charlotte St. I know Daisy is as well. We truly can't thank them enough for all they've done/continue to do.****

I called the ofc on Friday afternoon at the recommendation of our home Vet. Our older dog Daisy has/had been sick for 4 weeks @ that point. She saw 3 Vet practices during this time period with this ofc making the 4th. None of the others could figure out what was wrong with her or even a solid theory. After each appt & trying new meds or increasing the ones she was on already she still just continued to get worse. She had suffered a good amount the entire time & was absolutely miserable by this 👉 Not only did this ofc squeeze Daisy in for that evening, despite her not being a current patient of the practice, but they were so incredibly understanding. Despite the appt being the last of their night, they didn't rush us at all.

The Tech (I'm so sorry I can'tremember her name) & Vet (Dr. Cowan) we saw were so kind & gentle with Daisy. You could tell that these wonderful ladies had become part of this career field out of love & compassion. They went above & beyond to make sure she was as comfortable as possible given the situation. By the end of that appt we had a real idea finally as to what was going on. It was found while doing an exam that each of the prior Vets had done when Daisy was in their ofc for care. Unfortunately, for some reason they were somehow unable to detect what this Vet did. We also discussed what the next steps would/could most likely be. They understood how much quality of life meant to us & how much & for how long she'd already been suffering. We had already followed each of the prior Vet recommendations in hopes they'd help her feel better until someone could figure this out. None had. Yet, this Vet came up with a comfort plan of her own in the one appt we had. It has been nothing short of a miracle! It isn't a cure by any means! We know this. However, it has helped her so, so much. She's finally able to sit longer than 15-20 mins at a time. She'd spent all of her time leading up to this Vet appt, since her symptoms started, pacing, panting, yelping, & whimpering. While pretty much constantly trying to find a comfortable position to sit or lay in. She's walking & sitting again. She's resting & sleeping. This is allowing her to stand up on her own & on the 1st try. She even has some pep in her step when outside. Today she's voluntarily climbed our stairs a few times on her own to potty (going in & out of our house). I'm watching her peacefully sleep as i type this!!! This is something I really wasn't sure she'd ever get to experience again. I'm so incredibly grateful to this ofc & the amazing staff!!!! Thank you for believing in the "quality of life" for our four legged, furry family member but also for figuring out how to make that happen ASAP!!!
Forever Grateful,
Daisy & Family (Misty, Sal, & Bella)

Shout out to Dr Cowan and Taylor for being awesome with Tucker yesterday! And a huge thanks to everyone in the back I’m sure were required to wrangle my crazy boy. I know Tucker isn’t the easiest dog to work with, so I’m so grateful for these guys! Definitely recommend for others who may have a hard time finding vets who are understanding and caring to those of us with difficult fur babies

From the first contact to the discharge there was absolutely nothing not too be impressed by. Their efficient and caring attention to our very sick puppy and to two highly anxious parents was so reassuring. We are from out of town but the Charlotte Street Animal Hospital would definitely be our puppy’s clinic if we lived in AVL.

My pets and I love this vet clinic and especially Dr. Amber. Dr. Amber is loving, highly experienced and most of all thorough. She treats my 2 dogs and my cat as though they were her pets. Thank you Dr. Amber and Charlotte Street team for working with me to give my babies their best lives.

Dr Henry is fantastic! She has a bubbly and friendly personality. She was very gentle with my ferret, Rocket. She is very knowledgeable and I trust her completely with my babies care. The ladies up front were nice as well and it was very easy emailing them to set up an appointment!

The receptionists are always very kind and helpful. Molly the vet tech has seen my cat on two different occasions and she is so sweet and caring. Great at handling and examining my very anxious cat and willing to answer all my questions. The doctors are wonderful as well. Dr Scully helped address my concerns about my cat’s asthma and didn’t push for any unnecessary treatments. I’m always very grateful for his care and consideration. Fifi is so lucky to receive great care from CSAH!

Dr Amber at Charlotte St Animal Hospital is amazing. Our pup has had his fair share of Vets both for Seizures and GI issues. Our Neurologist at Upstate recommended her and after numerous attempts at other facilities Dr Amber was able to assist. Our pup loves her and is happy to see.

Everyone was very helpful, especially the vet tech (I think his name was Shawn?). Dr. Abrams was amazing and very thorough in caring for my senior dog! Also, the person I spoke to on my initial phone call was courteous and helpful. A great experience.

Another great experience at Charlotte Street Animal hospital. We were given all the time we needed. All questions were answered. It was easy to schedule our appointment which was without much notice. Excellent care every single time. We did labs which were thoroughly explained with the options to explore more details. Huge thanks.

Dr. Henry is a delight :) from the moment she walked in to our first appt, I felt at ease, never rushed. Our dog, Yuma, had her tail up and wagging the entire exam. She offered thoughtful advice, and recommendations that I feel confident in. I’m very excited to establish this practice as our new home vet.

I had the best experience at Charlotte street. My kitten got really sick over the course of a few weeks. I had taken her to another vet in town and they told me she was really sick and that I could take her home for a day or two and then make a decision after that. The next day she got progressively worse overnight and I could tell she was very sick so I called Charlotte Street right when they opened and they got me in right away for a emergency visit. when I got there the the vet really honest and straight up with me and told me what my best options were, and what she would do if it was her cat. With their input I decided to put her down. They were incredibly compassionate about it. They offered to give me as much time as I need to with her and even loved on her and rubbed her as they were administering the medicine. The doctor even held my hand when it happened. They also offered to hold off on payment until I could get the funds ready and hear back from ACW. I will definitely take my cat for and other pets there in the future

At 13 yrs of age, Maddie had come to refuse going into a vet's office. Yet, at Charlotte St, she was the most at ease and calm that I've seen her in years. We appreciate they allow exams without having to get up on a table. Every vet we met (2 for appts and one just for questions) was kind, caring, compassionate, and genuine.

Being able to text with questions and set up appts is invaluable!

We did have to wait a couple of days for a prescription as the vet we saw first was not in for a couple of days, so that was a little frustrating, but they did accommodate and help us to fill that prescription sooner than our vet's return.

Our story did not have a happy ending

The staff are so friendly and sweet to our pups. The docs allow us to explore our options for the care of our pups so we can find what works the best for us. We are always able to get appointments when we need them, and they are very responsive with our questions and prescription refill requests. We appreciate everyone at CSAH.

My three dogs usually get extremely anxious at the vet. We went to Charlotte Street Animal Hospital tonight for new patient visits. It was the best vet appointment they have ever had thanks to Cat and Dr Harbin. They were both so kind and so thorough, and our puppers were calm and relaxed enough to sprawl out on the floor! What a great experience - thank you, Cat and Dr Harbin!

I love this place! Dr Amber is my favorite by far. She clearly has a special place in her heart for my old kitty man, and she has taken such great care of him as he approaches 19 years old. She takes great effort to handle him the way that makes him the most comfortable and pain free, and she even makes sure to schedule his lab work for when she can be there. She had to go away for a brief time the last time he had to have blood drawn, and she seemed more nervous about leaving it in someone else’s hands than I was!

All of the doctors my cats have seen at CSAH have been kind and competent, but Dr Amber is a level above any other veterinarian I’ve ever had. She takes the time to discuss with me at length, to answer any questions I have. And she loves my little guy, and recognizes that he is “the cat love of my life”, and could not be more kind and considerate of that.

10/10 would recommend to anyone

Dr. Cowan and Vet Tech Alice were really exceptional (as is the whole team!) They were both super knowledgeable, extremely gentle and good with my skittish dog, met me where I was, and did not try to push any additional treatments or fees that were unnecessary. Highly professional, super caring, really couldn't have been any better. My dog, who is very dog reactive and fearful about places like the vet, had an absolute blast. I think she would be genuinely excited to go back, even though she received an ear treatment and vaccine while she was there! This is the way vet's offices should be.

Dr. Cowan and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and gentle. I took my puppy in to have an ear infection treated, and was pleased with their approach and treatment. I will definitely be returning for future services. Thank you!

I took my cat in for an emergency visit. I had never been to Charlotte Street Animal Hospital before, but they let me bring him in to drop off immediately. Every time they wanted to do a test or administer something they called me to ask for approval, told me the cost beforehand, and let me know what it was for. I asked some questions and they seemed more than willing to give me more information about what they wanted to do. In addition when they learned new information from testing they called to let me know what they knew and what the next recommended steps were. Overall for an emergency drop off visit it was pretty quick (three hours overall) and on the lower price range of emergency vet visits that my family has had.
