The staff and programs at the Onslow County Public Library are great!! I have been going here for years and now take my children to the weekly Preschool Storytime, monthly Dance Party, and my teen to the graphic novel book club. Everyone is always happy to help. Highly recommend, especially for families.

I wish could give them more stars. This library is so amazing and the amount of resources they have is amazing. They are helpful, kind and patient. Their genealogy room is hands down the best I have ever been to- and I have been to the National Archives- they have so many amazing and meaningful resources. I am so grateful I got to meet the staff there. Even the security team is super nice. Thank you all for your kindness!!!

Excellent library , and our favorite branch. The kids room is wonderful & engaging. Lots of activities and programs for the kids. The two librarians we have met I would describe as phenomenal and probably the nicest once’s we’ve met (we are a military family that has lived in many different places !). Truly appreciate this kind environment we can visit!!! Highly recommend

edit update. The library just recently, the main branch, got all new PCs for patrons. These PCs are much faster and better than the old ones and I'm able to a lot of stuff much faster than before. I am so happy that the library has these resources available.. I love this library but one thing I really love is that you can check out a book at one of the four branches and you can return it to any of the four branches, even if its not the one you got it at. The branches also have a huge selection of DVDs, which cost nothing to rent as long as you have a library card. They each also have computer labs if you need to use computer or just print out some stuff and the workers are always super helpful.

I live in Hampstead & travel all the way to this library for the toddler storytime alone. My little one enjoys it so, so much. The librarians do a great job at keeping it so fun & organized. Shout out to Ms Lisa & Ms Jen! They have a great program for the kids, I love the staff here. They're all so friendly & helpful. There's a giant selection of books. If you don't find what you're looking for, one of the other branches will have it & you can pick it up here.

Love love love the library!! My children haven't had a library card before. The other day we went in and enrolled for a library card and my two boys received a free t-shirt for being newbies and the librarians were so kind and showed us the events that are coming up at the many libraries around our county. My children are so excited to be apart of the library and look forward to participating in the many events that the library has to offer.

OCPL Library is just an awesome place to visit. There are so many things to do here besides just browse the book shelves.

With a Library Card you also have access to the computer lab here. When I was apartment hunting, it was so easy to just come to the Jacksonville Location and make copies of all the important documents, fill them out and then scan them directly back to the Landlord or Apartment Complex Email. It made the process so easy instead of having to drive back and forth all the time.

The best part of all this is a Library Card is free. The only thing I had to pay for was any copies I made. Which was only $0.20 per single sided page.

I definitely recommend checking out OCPL if you are new to the area or just never been here.

I use the main branch mostly for my kids. They have a good selection for young and intermediate readers and the folks who work in the kids section are super helpful in finding new books the girls will enjoy. It’s a great resource!

The staff is polite and helpful, they have multiple kiosks to check book availability and location and you are allowed to check out essentially as many books as you want at once (something absurd like 50). The kid's section is separate from the main, which is nice so you really only have to watch the one door to insure munchkins aren't wondering off. The bus line also stops at the library, so it's accessible even if you don't drive.

I'm speaking specifically for the children's books and programming: awesome!!! Good selection of children's books. But the best is the people. We loved story time here with Mr. Matt, Ms. Krystal, and Ms. Jenn. Even during Covid lockdown, they didn't miss a beat. They kept virtual storytime going and held in-person programming when they could. Love them!

A bit of nostalgia.. friendly and helpful front desk. They got me and my study partner in a study/meeting room real quick and with a smile. This is a resource I promise to use more.

My family loves the library! My children know just about all the children's librarians by name and all of them have taken the time to show a personal interest in my children. They have wonderful programs for kids of all ages even the teens. They have a lot of great family events that are perfect for kids. They work hard to make the library a fun and interesting place for kids. With so many electronic options they do a great job incorporating it into the programs. My kids love the tumble books and eBooks online as well. The programs at the library are a great way to get your children interested in books!

They have the lowest priced colored copies in town. I always go to the library for colored copies! They have large selection of books and if they don't have it in they can get it from one of the other branches in Onslow county. Everyone is always friendly and kind. They have clean restrooms and the overall look of the building is neat and up to date. I only wish they would build a larger library in Jacksonville. It definitely gets crowded often.

I usually go to Richlands library because it's closer to my home. I was there the other day and the girl at the counter mentioned she's usually working at this location and I said I'd check it out. I love that the hours are longer as we usually like to go in the evenings after the kids get home from school. We love checking out movies and there's a huge selection. Everyone is always very friendly as well

Although it seems like the staff may be rude, they're not. The limited staff for this branch and the turnover of clients they serve, a smile will go a long way.
It may seem ridiculous to ask for proof of address, but resident doesn't count. Every address in the city has one. I know you should be proud to ensure you're bringing in the proper documents to receive a library card. It's more for your protection, remember?
I want to say thank you ladies and gentlemen who work at the library. They've helped me in research, and laws. Not counting entertainment reading. Keep up the great work.
Thank you.

Laptime Storytime on Thursday mornings is wonderful! Ms. Jen who leads it is so interactive and super sweet. It's a free program so all you have to do is show up. A great way to get out of the house and get some socializing time in for you and your little one.
