Il Posto Bistro

This is our new go-to restaurant in Canandaigua! Chris Ventura and Wendy Loveless have created a cozy, friendly and most importantly - delicious addition to Main Street. I haven't met a sauce that Chris makes that I haven't loved. From starters to deserts we have been delighted by what he's cooking up. Most recently we had the Braised Octopus and Utica Greens to start. The Octopus was perfectly cooked and paired with vinegar potatoes with a sauce that is to die for - multiple layers of texture and flavor. The Utica Greens are beyond. The flavor comes in waves and while it does bring some heat, I love some spice, so it was a win all around. Next we shared an order of my new favorite: Ali Amatriciana - the sauce is fantastic - again, very complex (5 stars for finding Guianciale!) but the house made potato gnocchi is the star. They were the most perfect pillowy potato gnocchi I have ever had. With a side of Rapini we were oh so happy and full! Oh, and on Monday's no corkage fee (being that we went on Jan 1st we brought our favorite bubbles) but I started with a surprisingly (only because I couldn't imagine how all the flavors would come together) Bullet Rye cocktail (a take on an old fashioned I think) that was supper yummy. This review is making me hungry lol But in all seriousness, Welcome to Canandaigua. We are so grateful you're here!

So Glad this restaurant is back open. The Octopus and bone marrow appetizers were eaten in the restaurant and sampled before pics. The Osso Buco was take out and everything was delicious! Well done 👍👍🥂

Food was amazing! Hand made pasta was excellent! Food was hot and flavorful. Excellent service!

We frequent Italian restaurants and I have to say this one is on the top of my list. Living in NYC it’s hard to find quality Italian upstate, and I have to say this place is fantastic. Definitely worth the visit, you won’t leave disappointed.

This is one of our go-to restaurants. The food is always delicious and the owner Denise always makes you feel so welcome. Live music on a Thursday night was an added bonus. Truly enjoyed our evening there.

This place was absolutely delicious. The appetizers were some of the best I've ever had! I highly recommend the Utica Greens and the mac and cheese! My party enjoyed their experience

What a fabulous addition to Main Street. Great bar service before an extraordinary dinner. Fresh, delicious and unique. Super, relaxing atmosphere and top notch service. Can't wait to go back.

Very warm atmosphere. Food was delicious! Very fresh, and accommodating to slight changes I wanted made. I particularly loved the homemade gnocchi, and in house made Ricotta appititizer.

We just returned from Italy and were craving good, authentic, Italian food. There were four of us and we ordered four different entrees. Everyone was very happy with their dinners and plan to return!

First I'd like to say we love the atmosphere very warm vibe. The service was attentive and friendly.
We started with the burrata appetizer. Warm and creamy covered with figs on a bed of arugula over a toasted ciabatta slice, it was heavenly. My wife had the chicken pesto sandwich. The chicken was so moist and flavorful, covered with a delicious ricotta cheese on a pesto covered buttery bun she loved it. I had the zuppa de pesce
Clams, mussels, octopus, shrimp in a delicious tomato broth with tiny pasta pearls. Everything we have had there has been delicious and we always try something new. Looking forward to going back.

Very excited they are now open Monday nights!! They make the BEST braised octopus we have ever had. So tender and delicious. Everything was great from the drinks to food.

Stupendous food, impeccable service, friendly and warm atmosphere, ever-changing menu, comfortable seating, great location. Lovely staff.

Def order the ficachia bread. Everything was amazing. Amatricana had so much flavor. Definitely a good place for dinner

Great Italian food. The chicken parm and bolognese are very good. The fried calamari is perfect. The owner and staff were super nice as we had screwed up a groupon we had and they still honored it and thanked us for coming in. We'll be back real soon.

One word: Delicious! The service was terrific! The owner’s daughter knew everything about the food and wines and the food was perfect. We hope this “new” place stays in business for a loooong time!

Hands down, my right hand to God, the absolute best Italian restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. Prices are reasonable and affordable, and not to mention the food was to die for. I would give this 100 stars if it were possible.

Ate here for the first time tonight for our anniversary. I had their lemon drop and my husband the chianti. Both were very tasty. Then we had the rice balls. Light and delicious. I had one of the nightly specials, a rubbed ribeye with mushrooms, Swiss chard and potatoes. Perfectly cooked the way I ordered and seasoned well. My husband had the chicken milanase. He also thoroughly enjoyed his meal. We ended it with a perfect dessert of a scoop of ice cream with a shot of espresso poured over the top. Perfect end to the meal. Will definitely be back.

The octopus was delicious. Staff was awesome definitely will go back to taste more of there entrees
