Dockside Motel

My husband and I stayed here for one night and the room was awesome! It was huge and had such a spectacular view! Definitely stay there again!!

I only gave Dockside a 5 because that's as high as the ratings go. I'll start with the room.
We stayed in room #1, which faced east, toward the sunset, which is always spectacular in Cedar Key. The walls at the end and right side of the room are all windows, getting you as close to the outside as you can get without dodging seagul splat. The construction work couldn't even mess up the view. Who needs a TV when you can watch people catch fish on the pier (when I wasn't out there myself) and check out the boats cruising in the Gulf of Mexico. And did I mention the sunsets? My goodness.
The staff;
You expect friendly service from motel staff, and you usually get it. Usually. At Dockside, friendly is only the beginning. They're good people. Plain and simple. Good people. They're down to earth, genuine and helpful. And Phil's grilled ribs and chicken were fantastic.
Prices;
Most reasonable prices in Cedar Key. We stayed 5 days at Dockside for what we would have payed for 2 or 3 days at other places.
Parking is limited to wherever you can squeeze in on Dock Street. Once we got a good parking spot, we locked the van and walked everywhere. Since the pier, restaurants and gift shops are all right there, you can walk without working up a sweat. And since I'm one of those guys that work up a sweat walking to the refrigerator, that's saying something.
Will we be back? Is the Pope Catholic? The real question is when. My best answer is, "not soon enough." Phil said he was cooking wings with his homemade sauce. Set a plate aside for me. I'll be back soon.

Our stay was a last minute getaway with friends Jan 19, 2020. The new owner was extremely accommodating and very helpful. The rooms very clean with alot of new furniture. Perfect location to restaurants. A very quaint little place and we will definitely be going back. We can't wait to see the progress.

The manager, Gary, was amazing! Very accommodating to your every need and extremely personable. Even gave us the shirt off his back before we left because we mentioned it was an awesome t-shirt! Love this place! Highly recommended! Would definitely stay there again!

Life is about experiences. My wife and I came to dockside to explore a new part of Florida. This is not the newest, most expensive,, or state of the art facility. Our trip was about fishing, drinking, and eating during our 2 day stay. And this site was perfect, we loved the older location and were right in the mix of it all.

What we didn't expect was the awesome service by the staff and the children.. this seems to be a family buisness, with down to earth folk. Whatever you do don't bet the kids from Alaska anything!!! They are smart as a whip and took my money everytime, but with their great smiles its a win win...

Don't believe me that a gem like this still exists, I dare you to try.

Great place! Though it could use a revamp the hotel manager Gary more than makes up for that. We had the munchies st beautiful view n even though the rooms show there age it was very clean. However again Gary is the main draw. We will come back just because of him alone. He literally lives to make the guest happy! Every time we would go for walks he would be outside easy to spot n happy to suggest places that suit you desires, chatting with everyone be it guest or passerbys. He was funny n beyond friendly. You feel like he's been your friend for years. He made us laugh every time we saw him n every time we parted he would remind us if we need anything don't hesitate to grab him. The hotel itself was nice but u will get the most bang for your buck with him. We called before we came ( we live far n wanted to make sure our reservation was ok) n he on his own went up n started the air so second we hit door we were relaxed n cool after the 2 hour drive!!!!

The stay was awesome 👌 spot on the hospitality was great 👍 we will definitely be back the owner was veteran friendly and bent over backwards to accommodate us 🇺🇸 we look forward to coming back. Love this place.. restaurants , ice cream an a awesome fishing spot right across the street .. the owner is very nice too

I stayed there 6 months ago and I plan to go again this weekend.

Last time I went there it was great. We were on the second floor with a nice view and laid back atmosphere. The other guests were very polite. The location was awesome because of the proximity to shops and restaurants. The room was very well kept and the service was to be expected for a smaller hotel.

Really love this place, room 2 saw the sun rise and set with the old restaurant down. It's old fl that perfectly fits the cedar key experience. Older Rooms but very clean, secure, comfortable. Staff friendly, helpful considerate. Food walking distance and excellent. Will be back soon. Frank & Cori

We had room 3. Beds comfortable, views are great. Older hotel, box television, mix match furniture. Towels and linens fresh and clean. Price is cheap!!! Pier across street. Gary, the manager is amazing, kind, helpful, and fun!

The office cat was adorable. Location was AWESOME, staff was real laid back and friendly. Clean rooms as well! Price was fair as well!

The Dockside Motel is under new management. To address the first complaint/negative review since I took over (4 months ago), Ms Rolfe, thank you for your feedback. However, I'm uncertain which of my rooms you are referring to concerning blinds not functioning correctly as there are only curtains ( new/pictures uploaded). As far as cleanliness any specifics would be appreciated as I hold myself accountable for any and all discrepancies and address them accordingly.

All and all it was a good experience. If your looking for an affordable get away, look no further! Where else can you fish right outside your hotel? Owner was really cool too!

The only downside, the whole town was outta live shrimp lol so I had to use pinfish. But it’s that time of year where shrimp are tough to get so no marks against them.

Had an AWESOME time staying at Dockside. Phil and Rosie were hands down the most gracious hosts I have had the experience of meeting! Rooms are super clean and everyone was very friendly. I DEFINITELY will be back and I will be sure to tell all of my friends!

Ditto on the Great reviews for Gary he's the reason we would stay again! Lucky hotel ower to have him in charge! Perfect Cedar Key experience! As close as you can get to all the great spots on Cedar Key!

Location, location, location!! Dockside is a great choice with good food and music just across the street. Quaint victorian town with lots of age on her face and a great soul. We went out of our way on a trip from Atlanta to Ft. Myers to explore the place and decided to stop in again on the way back home. This is NOT a fancy hotel ... bring your own soap and shampoo. Really basic, but it is clean and comfortable.

Nice large clean room with an awesome view. Lee and Marsha were wonderful. Thanks for saving our anniversary after OYO motel ruined the first four days.

I sure do love all the people that have been coming to this Motel since I took over as manager. Thank you for all your comments and responses and reviews. Come back and see me I'm Gary and I'll be waiting.
