This is the 1st ever museum in Cedar Key. Run by the State, very well kept, clean bathrooms and the surrounding area. The volunteers are very nice, friendly, and informative. Trail Park is awesome. Please do run the QR code to pay $2/person or get the blue envelope by the post upfront and deposit it. Donations are all welcome as well! We took tons of videos to showcase the Museum History. If you like a historical museum, come and visit Cedar Key Museum State Park!

Very interesting and educational museum with a lot of information about the area, aquatic life, Native American arifacts, and seashells. There are trails through the pines and oaks that lead to the water. There was, what I believe, a Great Horned Owl. I did get some pictures of it.

One of the very few highlights of cedar key island!! They have free parking.there is a path by the parking lot that leads to a beautiful cove with a bench! Along the way we saw an enormous hawk in a tree next to her nest.

While the Museum itself was closed for maintenance, we still give Cedar Key Museum State Park 5 stars. The grounds are well taken care of, and the historic Whitman House was a treat. If you visit the house, be certain to pick up one of the laminated self-guided tour sheets. There’s interesting history behind the home, as well as how Mr Whitman came to Cedar Key/ we hope to come back to visit again.

Nice Florida state park. It has a nature trail, St. Clair Whitman historic home, and an information center museum with displays and staff to answer questions. There are a few items outside to look at as well as places to sit and clean restrooms. For a small fee (or free with your state park pass) you can come to this peaceful quiet park. Whether you explore the history, learn more from the staff, walk the trails or just sit and relax on the front porch rocking chairs or a bench listening to the birds, you will enjoy coming here.

This park and museum offers the perfect break from the hustle and bustle of the tourist district of Cedar Key proper. The spacious grounds have lovely shade trees of oak and pine with a short nature trail with lovely views of the adjacent estuary and mangrove habitat. The fresh air and quietness of this location is rejuvenating.

Unfortunately, not open on Tuesday, which is the only chance I get to visit... Nice little park with a little historical Marker, couple cannons, antique wagon & antique fireman's hose reel. Old house that's closed for renovations. And, a trail for a walk...

Short and well managed trail around the museum grounds is accessible all days a week, and is a lovely place to have lunch while birding. Restrooms only open and available during museum operating hours.

The museum portion was closed due to mold (presuming from hurricane idalia)

The home is beautiful and the ranger a fun guide.

Be sure to see the john Muir sign 🪧

The staff was very helpful. The museum is very informative and it has alot of history there. The Wilson home from 1920 has been kept in really good condition. This is a must see if visiting Cedar Key. Entrance is only $2.00

Cedar Key has relatively few historical or educational destinations. This one is worth checking out. The "museum" is small and quickly walked through. The home on property is much more interesting and the specimens/artifacts are really neat. The nature trail is short but worth taking the stroll. If you enjoy Cedar Key and want to learn more about it's history this is a worthwhile stop.

Nice little place to stop and visit if you are in the area. They have a museum with a few artifacts and a fort you can explore.

The Museum within the visitors center is only $2. Its worth the air conditioning, the artifacts you'll see, and the knowledge and history about not only the Lost Native American tribes of Florida, but the Seminole Indian Wars within that area.
They also hand out the cutest stickers for the kiddos, or for teachers, like me!
