Time here was very educational and great for history lovers. How the area came into existence 🤔 progressed and changed over time to what it is today. Loved the reference to Native American and African American influence and related history...that was respectful and interesting, too. Free..only a donation and so worth your time. Thanks to the volunteers 🙋‍♀ 👍 😀

This is a breath taking display of history!!
Everything is complete from artifacts, pictures, and maps.
We have always visited Cedar Key, but never learned the history of the island.
Thank you

Very informative history of Cedar Key. Interesting and unusual artifacts through out both houses. Spent about 90 minutes total there. Love the old newspaper clippings display.

Best 3 dollars I ever spent! Very well done for a small local historical society. If you visit, consider giving them more than the price of admission...it's an all volunteer run organization.

Great museum to understand the amazing local history as far back as the 1850's.

Very quaint, but extremely informative museum. Amazing artifacts and history of Cedar Key. Walks you through the colorful history of this waterfront village. I love the way they have been able to maintain Old Florida in this ever changing fast moving world. This place makes you feel like you're coming home.

This is an excellent museum. So informative and enjoyable! Cedar Key's history is fascinating. The docent was knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. The collection is enormous, so complete with paintings and historical models of Cedar Key. My son just went for me and loved it! Don't miss this jewel!

Only $3 entry per person. You learn the history behind Cedar Key including the colonization period. It gives you a better idea on how the city had grown from a lonely Island to a thriving town. I would suggest starting your trip here to better appreciate the buildings you past in your golf cart.

Cool little museum of Cedar Key. Excellent selection of displays, very nice restored buildings, boats, etc. We really liked the walk and the informative tour. The buildings are beautifully restored and very well kept.

Take about an hour and learn some more about the history and people of Cedar Key and the area.

If you come to Cedar Key make it a point to visit the Historical Society Museum.
There is a lot of fascinating history in this area, and the museum is a wonderful place to learn about it. Plan on spending a couple of hours exploring the nicely organized exhibits showing the way time has changed the town over the years.

Outstanding. Hard to believe that small Cedar Key has a museum of this high caliber. Friendly and knowledgeable docent followed by a wonderful living history of Cedar Key. Loved it.

At only $3 a person what a wonderful way to spend an afternoon after lunch. Cedar Key has much in the way of Civil War history. John Muir traveled to Cedar Key on his thousand mile walk. One of the locals made some incredible models of ships, fishing boats, sponge boats, the railroad through Cedar Key and the lighthouse. Cedar pencils and whisk brooms were huge industries in Cedar Key. The Eagle Pencil Cedar Mill and Eberhard Fabor pencil mill and the Standard Manufacturing whisk broom company were once large producers of manufacturing products. We will have to visit the Historical Society again. For a small place like Cedar Key they sure have lots of interesting history. The docent was knowledgeable and very helpful. I bought several books, pencils, mints and postcards for myself and gifts for friends. Heck it is for a good cause, I liked the books and the trinkets will make great gifts.

Fantastic little museum that gives you all you need to know about the varied history of the area. Sometimes these small museum's just get it right over the biggest places. This one does. Highly recommended
