Cedar Key Police Department

My husband and I have been visiting Cedar Key from South Carolina. This is our first trip here. On Thursday 8/25, we made the mistake of locking our only car keys inside our car along with both our cell phones. After panicking for a few minutes, we walked to the property office to borrow a phone to call for help. The lady there suggested that the police department may be able to help. I immediately called the PD on the borrowed phone and spoke with a very professional lady who informed me that she would dispatch an officer right away. Within 10 minutes time Officer Jenkins arrived and in another 10 minutes he had our car unlocked. In addition to his professionalism, he refused payment and insisted this was a community service of the Cedar Key PD.
We have always been supportive of all police and this act of kindness reinforces our beliefs. Thank you Officer Jenkins and the Cedar Key PD. We look forward to our next trip!

Hi I am writing to thank the CK police dept and chief and first res-ponders for helping save my life last Saturday the 7th of March. I fell in the oyster beds under the second bridge going toward the airport. (my own fault). Hit my head on a rock and split my hand open . I was bleeding profusely and hurting very badly. Called 911 and while talking to dispatcher on the phone I could hear the police chief and Fire rescue sirens all ready on the way. It seemed like a matter of minutes before the police chief and first res-ponders were helping me. While waiting for the ambulance to arrive they made me comfortable and were able to control the bleeding. You people went above and beyond what you get paid for and wanted you to know you saved my life. I spent a week in NF and Shands and now recovering at home. Thank you, Lori Beckers
