Well-Bred Bakery & Cafe in Downtown Weaverville

This is such an excellent little bakery. They offer both savory and sweet items. The staff recommendation is breakfast burritos for savory. For sweet, you can’t go wrong. I personally love the chicken salad and the kale salad. They are known for their mountain eclairs. If you’re coming from Tennessee, it’s I-26 exit 18 of interstate 26.

Beautiful bakery and cafe in downtown Weaverville NC. Fresh and tasty breakfast and lunch choices with excellent service. The display cabinet is amazing and makes it easier to know what you are ordering!

The baked goods are delicious love this place have been several times. Wish it was where I actually live. A little pricey but worth it. The mountain eclair is huge! The espresso roulade is my favorite (sorry no pic as they didn’t have today)

Note: as of 1/2/23 this establishment is “closed for renovations”. I do not know for how long this will be the case. Not sure if they just started it or what but would have been nice if they could have notified google maps. We love the place but live out of town and frequently drive out of our way to go here as we did today. We were directed to the food truck which wasn’t far and we were still able to get the eclair but the selection is more limited and I could not get what I normally do :(. Well-bred please update google maps somehow so people are not inconvenienced. Thanks.

Amazing salads sandwiches and pastries! The chocolate cake is a must have for any chocolate lover. Decadent moist chocolate cake with icing that is the consistency of fudge without being overly sweet!!! Perfection!

Very very cool place. Way better than your average bakery. The food in the cases all looks delicious. I tried the Monte Cristo and a dessert that somewhat resembles Tiramisu. Absolutely excellent! Prices are reasonable, good service. Will definitely return with anyone that I can bring.

Went here for my daughter who desperately wanted to go to a real bakery. She said that it was exactly how she imagined a bakery! The options are wonderful, she got an eclair the size of her head and she said it was delicious. They have gluten free options which is great, the flour less torte was lovely. We just went for baked goods, but the lunch looked so good!

Absolutely delicious bakery! The line was long but I hardly had to wait (5 minutes tops). Staff was friendly and the pastry case was so delectable and filled to the brim. I ordered the Aztec mocha latte, molasses cookie, chocolate chip macaroon, walnut coffee cake, and apricot rugula! Delicious and can’t wait to return

Such a fun bakery and cafe! We got a ginger molasses cookie, key lime pie, and an almond square, all SO good. My wife also got a Chai Latte which was better than most.

It’s no wonder they have won so many awards…Weaverville’s Well-Bred bakery was worth the drive. The quiche and chocolate cake were out of this world!

Lovely local bakery with many GF options. Salads are yummy and sandwiches generous and tasty. Wish the acoustics were better. It can get loud when busy for those distracted by much ambient noise.

The cookies, don't leave without them. Plenty of breakfast and lunch options, great coffee selections. The staff are friendly and helpful. Just got the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and a cup of Jamaican me crazy coffee with 2 peanut butter cookies to go.

We had Well-Bred Bakery prepare 3 cakes for our wedding. We asked for various flavors and icing, combinations that were a little out of the norm, but Well-Bred was very happy to accommodate and work with us to create delicious masterpieces. All of the guests could not stop raving about the cakes. Well-Bred staff arrived early at the venue and quickly set-up the cakes; much appreciated on a very busy day! Highly recommend the 'chocolate, banana, gran-marnier' or 'raspberry coconut'!

While it was very busy, service was fast and friendly. Very good coffee. Great bacon, egg, & cheese croissant. Tasty chocolate chip scone, which was their Daily Scone for the day. Wife loved the chicken salad croissant. I can see why this was so busy.

The food here is tasty and the portions were filling. I had a latte and enjoyed the atmosphere. The employees were kind and I would definitely return.

Great place to have coffee! I got the eclair and chocolate chip cookie as well. Great atmosphere and the speciality coffees are amazing. 5 Stars !

First visit. Went in to see if I could find something sweet to eat. Was hoping for cake of some sort. Procured one slice each of fudge chocolate cake and carrot cake. Both were very good. Carrot cake had proper amount of moisture, but could have the icing being a little thicker in quantity. Icing seemed a bit skimpy to my tastes.

Also unexpectedly acquired some quiche: Gouda with sliced tomatoes. This was most assuredly some of the best quiche I’ve ever eaten. Had other flavors of quiche, but they were more normal/typical, and my wife and I love Gouda, so…

Staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Pricing was not inexpensive, but I would say we received what we paid for: High-quality food.

I’m hoping to return before leaving Weaverville (on vacation) before leaving. Would like to try some other treats.

I have been traveling to and buying treats from Well-Bred for many, many years and they never disappoint! This last trip, we went to Asheville for lunch and on the way home, we of course had to stop at Well-Bred for dessert. I had the pistachio cream cake and my husband had the strawberry blueberry cream cake. Both were delicious and service was impeccable. We were so stuffed that we forgot to buy treats to bring home and are still kicking ourselves for that. If you are anywhere near Weaverville, I highly recommend Well-Bred for a treat or two or three!

The Reuben sandwich is EXCELLENT. I hope it becomes a permanent menu item 😇
