McDowell Arts Council

We all want to find community. Moving to this area, I felt challenged finding folks/folx that reflected my ideas and passion for artistic expression. I appreciate the hard work MACA continues to do in a region overlooked for it's incredible artists, artisans, and crafters. Growing through stereotypes, rural challenges, and even a pandemic, the McDowell Arts Council Association strives to provide a safe space for artists, aspiring artists, and the next generation of talented humans.

Fantastic organization that prioritizes arts for EVERYONE. More places should be like MACA!

Fun and interesting! So many creative works for sale. I especially love how the young woman in charge of the tshirt sales went the extra mile to use super soft shirts, and took extra care to reverse bleach dye them in really cool patterns. I added one to my collection! So my cool things to see. A must-stop on Main Street!!

We are so fortunate to have a thriving Arts Council in McDowell County that offers art exhibits, local arts and crafts for sale, music and art classes, theatre performances, artist grant opportunities, and more. Even during the pandemic, they have provided online programming, a book discussion group, make and take art projects for kids, teen theatre online, and an online zine. Every community should be so lucky to have such a wonderful opportunity for all ages to explore and enjoy the arts!

I am a part of McDowell Arts Council Association & I can't tell how much I love & enjoy working with such an amazing group of people, it's a family. MACA offers several programs through the arts, all of which is very great!! I am a part the theatre 🎭 program & all of our plays are very great, & I encourage you to come see us sometime!

Anna and Susan are always helpful and fun. Local crafts include pottery, jewelry, fiber arts, graphic art and photography. There are books written about the area by local authors and a small selection of art supplies. The gallery cat allows petting, her name is Biscuit.

MACA is a safe, inclusive place, somewhere I personally consider to be a sanctuary. Susan Pyatt-Baker and Anna Branam are wonderful individuals, who do so much for local artists, creative young people, and the community.

We are so lucky to have this organization! ❤ I sure do appreciate all they do in the community.

MACA is an amazing place for artists of any age to grow and explore. Great gift shop, art classes for all ages, and a fantastic theater program.

This place is amazing! I’ve done many shows with them and I will continue doing them! They are the sweetest people and the have beautiful art that deserves to be appreciated!

The gift shop is a perfect place to find gifts for Christmas. Shopping local and support local artists at MACA.
