Smokey Que's

We stopped in for dinner. The food was delicious and really hit the spot. We got a lot of food, everything tasted great, and it wasn't crazy expensive. Id for sure come back and try some more items on the menu.

First, we drove 14 miles out of our way to find this place .. I'm so glad we did, it was outstanding from the atmosphere of the restaurant it was true, BBQ if you can sit outside, it's beautifully done . I order the 2 choice meal and wife the bbq sandwich.. our choices of sides were collards, bake beans ,and bbq slaw.. the ribs were very good moist and easy to eat with a fork with a sweet bbq sauce with a very pleasant smoke favor pulled pork also very good with a carolina style sauce with 3 choices sauces all home made . Service was excellent with the owner stopping by and talking to us. Nice touch by the way .. the one thing personally I would like a little warmer food not that it was cold my personal preference is I like hot .. which is so hard in a BBQ restaurant to do .. the place is worth the extra drive off the highway because the food is amazing..

Great food. Bones literally coming right out of the ribs. BBQ was delish. Beans and Cole slaw were fire. Cheese curds 🙌

I ate here a few years ago. The food was amazing. After my job change, I haven’t been able to get back to Marion. The food was seasoned perfectly and cooked right . Caleb pours his heart and soul into his business. My favorite in Marion for sure! -Travis

The food was great and the service was amazing.

We pretty much tried the whole menu.
Pork cheese fries- great flavor
Chop bbq- great smoky flavor
Ribs- tender fell off the bone
Pickle chips- a little dry, but good flavor
Hush puppies- savory flavor
Beans- hint of sweetness
Fried catfish- moist and delicious
Corn- grilled corn on the cob
Fried okra- not slimy and fried to perfection

We will be back! :)

You cannot get better pig than at Smokey Ques! I had to hold myself back at lunch today. I would have moaned in pleasure the whole time. The cheeseburger was well-priced and over the top. Great, no awesome service! Only 90 minutes from Lake Norman, peeps!

Whenever we are in the mountains we like to eat at local restaurants not chain restaurants. Today was our first time here and WE LOVED IT! There was a lot of us and the waitress got all of our orders right and they were so nice!! We will definitely be back.

P.S. YOU HAVE TO TRY THE HUSHPUPPIES!

Food was great. Loved the salad bar. Outdoor seating was pet friendly and our server was very attentive. Overall great dinner

This meal was so good that there wasn’t a crumb left… And we weren’t even hungry! Loaded baked potato and collard greens were awesome. I had to take a picture of our empty plates. We devoured all of it.

This is the best BBQ restaurant in Marion. Honestly, it’s probably my favorite restaurant in Marion period. The food is all good and the hush puppies are the cherry on top. Love this place!

My husband and I were in town visiting when we ordered takeout for four adults. We ordered two pounds of choped barbecue,a rack of ribs,corn poppers, green beans, an individual side of potato salad, one quart of coleslaw, and a large order of fries family size. This order could have fed 6 starving people judging from the leftovers that were enjoyed later.

I'm sure we all were full long before we stopped eating,and we all felt like bigger pigs than the one we ate 🤣🐷! Everything was absolutely amazing and still hot after taking it back to our gathering twenty minutes away. This was the best barbecue we've ever had!!! And now we have to travel 2 hours back there to have more!

Very welcoming atmosphere and polite staff. The entire restaurant was spotless and my order came out much sooner than expected. If I find myself passing through Marion again, I will most definitely be stopping at Smokey Que’s.

Excellent place and excellent service! Natalie was an amazing waitress! We asked for so much and she was so sweet and attentive! Everything we had was great! Fried pickles, salad, hush puppies, BBQ, Ribs, Thighs (love the heat on them) and white meat Chicken.
Went back and stand by an amazing review! Excellent food, huge portions, great price and the service is always top notch! 🤗 so update, they're we're some new people in the restaurant that were not okay with us or anyone else. Sent back fried pickles because they we're inedible and this guy comes to tell us he asked his staff "what did you do" then says it was the bottom of the bag. Before that the older man watched us make our salad and when I looked at him he said "oh are the pepperonis low, I panic when things aren't full". Our crackers we're clearly picked up from previous tables as they had dressing on them and were basically crumbs. The wait staff has always been amazing. We'll go to Morganton for salad and BBQ for here on out as we don't condone speaking to staff the way the gentleman claimed he did. The older woman was no peach either! Asked us how things were and while saying great (just on salad at this point) she interrupted to ask my husband about his almost empty drink. He was okay with drink, she was as pretentious as the man we experienced that brags about berating staff. Literally saw our waitress afraid to say we weren't happy with something. Wait staff that aren't those two are amazing!

We are traveling through the area and decided it was time for BBQ. What a great decision. Everything was excellent, from the BBQ to the sides to the service. A special shout out to the Hushpuppies. Hands down the best I’ve ever had. Did I mention the shape, bite sized and oblong, kudos to whoever decided on this design. Our server did an excellent job with checking in on us. If you are in Marion NC you have to stop by.

On 8/8/23 I was on Lake James fishing with family and we decided I would go grab food from Smokey Que’s and bring it back to the boat for lunch. I drive about 15 minutes from the dock to the restaurant and order 2 BBQ Fries, a pound of pulled pork, 2 buns and a gallon of sweet tea for my family and I ordered myself a pulled pork plate with fries and corn nuggets. Somewhere in translation my plate got lost. When I returned to the boat and we all pulled out the to go trays we realized I did not have anything to eat. So I called the restaurant and talked to the manager. I wanted to know if I had gotten charged for it or not. If I was charged I was just gonna requested a refund for my tray only. But if I wasn’t charged for it I was fine but big deal everyone makes mistakes. But the manager I was speaking with turns out he was the owner! And this amazing man offered to drive over to the boat dock where we were to bring me lunch. I told him we didn’t have much cash but I could pay for it over the phone (I wasn’t charged in the original order that’s why it wasn't in the bag). He refused any money, we found $10 in cash on the boat but this man refused to take it. I was floored and amazed at his kindness. Needless to say from now on when we’re on the lake someone is going to Smokey Que’s for our lunch. Thank you so much to the owner for making sure we were all fed and were able to stay on the lake for 15 hours.

Great spot, excellent food and friendly attentive servers. Pork, ribs, catfish, all tasty. Green beans were great as a side.

This place had amazing food, amazing service, and the atmosphere was great! The small home town field with great food!

Awesome food, salad bar not that good. I suggest the ribs though. Needs some salt but over all so stinking good

Absolutely loved it! And bbq isn't something I'm big on. This place definitely has the best bbq in town. The food was perfect. I had the large bbq platter with baked potato and fried okra. The plate comes with hush puppies. Everything was great. Most places overcook okra but not here. I was even impressed with the bbq sauce. I had the sweet sauce. For an appetizer we had fried pickles which were awesome. The baked potato was perfectly cooked and they use real butter which makes a big difference. I highly recommend this place.

Husband and I were checking out hiking trails in this town and we came across this wonderful gem. Waitress was lovely and very friendly. Coming from Florida it was refreshing to find a local bbq place with great food and service. We had the lunch special of ribs and got a ton of food for under $10. I LOVED the baked beans, never had them so good and I've tried many. Ribs were sliding right off the bone and the fried Okra was crispy and delicious. We love to explore food while traveling and this was a treat! Thank you to chefs and waitress for a delightful meal. We will return when in NC. Thank you!
