Triplett Companies

So, I’m not a renter yet, but I am looking at Triplett for a sublet. I have to admit all the poor reviews here are making me very nervous. I’ve always been a good renter and have a decent income, so hopefully there will be no issues. I have to move in from out of state in a bit of a hurry, and can’t find anything else so short notice. The woman who answered the office phone was VERY vague or dismissive about questions regarding property insurance/ renters insurance and future maintenance issues. I’m looking at a house to sublet and just wanted to know what the procedure was for potential issues like plumbing repairs, potential storm damage, broken heat, etc. She literally would not be clear on who deals with these issues. It’s a cute house though and affordable while I save up to buy my own home! I see that Triplett has often responded to these reviews (although a bit unprofessionally and sarcastically), and I’m hoping that someone there can assure me that IF something should break, it will be fixed in a timely manner. Other than that, I’ve yet to rent from them, so I couldn’t tell you what they are like! I will update my review once I have more experience with them. Update: so far they have been very helpful in guiding me to a sublease agreement. I haven’t had any issues over the phone with them.

Update: the small house I rented is cute but has not been well maintained, more likely due to owner negligence than Triplett themselves. So far, I still have pending maintenance requests, but Triplett is working through them. So far, the front office has been courteous and the “rudeness “ people speak of seems more like an overworked and burned out staff. They have been patient and nice to me so far!

Update 1 year later: Triplett has done a great job responding to any maintenance requests and have even done some great cosmetic work and regravelled my driveway without my even requesting it. I’ve never had an unpleasant experience when calling them. They’ve never been rude, so I don’t know where the other commenters are coming from with this. Is it the best house? No. But I like it and it’s been good as a rental. I did clean it really good when I moved in and it’s been homey ever since.

Considering the company's size, its great that they made me feel like family anytime I called or needed help! Bob with maintenance is great! Definitely recommend their properties to graduate students or senior-level undergraduates!

After reading prior reviews over again in disbelief, I have come to the conclusion that most of what reviewers are actually criticizing can be traced back to quirks the renter has and is in no way Triplett's cause! If you don't do your homework & rent somewhere not suited to you, that is your fault and not theirs!!! Unfortunately, all people nowadays "Pass The Buck" and for that I am almost continuously crying to myself in horror how responsibility is always somebody else's flaw. Where or when will this stop? Sorry to go on a slight tangent! To summarize my feelings about Triplett succinctly, if you really know what you want and are able to interact well with an extremely friendly/ hard-working office lineup, this is where you want to come to--PERIOD!😂😂😂

We’ve rented from Triplett for over two years, and it’s been the best apartment we’ve lived in. Our neighbors are friendly; staff at the company has been extremely helpful; the apartment is well maintained and maintenance responds quickly. The rent price is reasonable and the location of our apartment is great.

I have had nothing but a pleasant experience with this property management thus far. I filled out my application and was approved and moved into my home within a week. The home was immaculately clean when I moved in.They even have a website where you can download your least and pay your rent....

I have been renting with them for a months now. Love my apartment, good location and cheap price. Staff are very friendly and always helpful to settle any issue coming out. The maintenance also fast, there is a time when the washer is malfunction and it is being repair in one day time. Recommended to all.

I currently rent from these guys, and I have to say of all the places I have rented they are fantastic! Maintenance is extremely nice an helps with absolutely everything possible. They recently helped with not only my bathroom, but helped with my heating as it had gone out during a storm the same day. As long as you don't screw up, you can't screw up renting with them.

Don't know where all these negative reviews are coming from. My experience has been very positive. I had a great duplex at an amazingly cheap price. All maintenance issues were quickly respolved. When I moved out, I received all of my security deposit. Definitely recommended!

I love my apartment and Bob the matinence guy! Whenever I've needed something fixed, even the smallest thing, he gets there right away! He is very pleasant to work with and understanding. He's gone above and beyond to make sure I'm taken care of.

There have also been a few times where I had trouble paying rent on time and was actually waived the late fee, which helped me out a lot because I was paying my rent with student loans at the time and they were willing to wait until I got them in. They let me pay a few months in advance as well.

Besides little maintenance issues, that get fixed right away, I have had no issues whatsoever with Triplett. :)

It's sad to see that Triplett has such bad reviews, we've really enjoyed our time with them. Repairs have always been prompt, and we would stay here for many years if we weren't moving to buy a house. Kelli at Triplett was our amazing realtor! She found us an awesome home, and was super responsive. They have a great deal at Triplett, where if you use one of their realtors, you get out of your lease without any fees. That has made the possibility of us becoming home owners a reality. Right now our rental property is a super cozy two bedroom with awesome vaulted ceilings. We're two blocks from downtown Ames, and there is a Cyride bus one block away, it really is just an ideal situation. Rent is higher than we paid in a different state, but for our location and space it's quite a bargain. Some of the employees at Triplett could improve their customer support skills, but ultimately we've really enjoyed working with them, especially Kelli and Dennis.

I have been thoroughly impressed with triplett companies. The office staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. Thanks triplett for making my move easy and non stressful. I recommend using them as your rental company in ames. Best around for sure!

Triplett Companies has been nothing but great to me. I have had no problems with either of the two apartments that I rented from them. The office staff has always treated with me respect and made me a priority. I recommend them to everyone.

When I came to Ames late in summer of 2013, I did not expect to find a drastic housing shortage for students attending Iowa State University. For over a week, I searched for housing with no luck - that is, until I contacted Triplett Companies. Working with my budget and current housing situation, Triplett helped me into one of their newly available properties. One year later, I am glad to report that I have only had positive experiences with Triplett Companies and their employees! It's great to have a management company that responds quickly to any issue that arises with their property. Thank you Triplett Companies and staff. Keep up the good work!

I have been renting from Triplett from past one and a half year and my experience has been great throughout. Great service at cheap price. I love my apartment and service is pretty fast. Nice people with professional and helping attitude. I recommend it to all my friends and they also had the same experience.

I've recommended them to others after my great experience with them. I rented my apartment for 2 years and every time I had an issue, they dealt with it immediately. Great place to live.

Very professional atmosphere. My wife and I have had some maintenance issues and they sent out maintenance personel ASAP to fit our needs. Everyone we dealt with was very professional and easy to work with. Would definitely recommend Triplett to my friends!
