LINCOLN HOME NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE-
Saturday was a beautiful day to go on a walk through Lincolns old home in Springfield. This was an interesting tour. I enjoy putting the pieces of the past together and learning about how society did things, then vs. now. What worked and what didn't. How things worked. It is so interesting seeing the "progress" we have made. Some good and some not so necessary..
This tour was free. The walk through Lincolns home was guided. It is best to schedule your tour ahead of time. After that, we were able to walk through a few other homes by ourselves and check out the neighborhood around Lincolns home.
There is a cute little garden and a couple bee boxes. I did get bit a few times, so make sure to bring the bug spray or wear pants and tennis shoes.
The parking is $2/hour, but on the weekend, street parking is free. Dogs are allowed, just not in the homes. Strollers will be left outside of the homes. No food or drinks are allowed in the homes.
There is a fun gift shop inside of the visitors center. So feel free to leave with a souvenir of your visit.

This place is so amazing!! It's not just the Lincoln family home but 2 blocks of beautifully maintained homes!! We didn't do the guided tour we just walked around on our own and we absolutely loved it!! All the staff that we did interact with were very friendly and knowledgeable. If you're a fan of all things Lincoln or a history nerd like me you will love this place!!

I took my little sister there for a field trip and it was very educational! In my opinion I think it was very cool seeing the original pieces of furniture (ect.) In the house! The whole town was very cool, we will be planning on going again soon!

Went on the tour twice and couldn't recommend more! Ranger Margaret was very approachable and friendly, and was willing to help with photos and recommendations for what to visit next. The visitor center was clean and inviting, and the movie on Lincoln was well made. Incredible quality for a free experience.

This was a wonderful free tour of Lincoln’s home in Springfield, IL. We had to get tickets and come back a few hours later for the last tour of the day but it was well worth it in my opinion! We enjoyed learning about how the Lincoln’s lived here in this house and seeing the original house and some original pieces of furniture. Very educational. Definitely recommend taking the tour. The tour guide was very sweet and knowledgeable.

This place was amazing! The actual artifacts throughout were unbelievable. Having a bit of Lincoln ancestry made it very interesting to see where the family lived and grew before becoming the legend that the nation reveres. We walked around on our own for a while before getting the guided tour. The guided tour was entirely worth waiting for.

A great experience. We went on the Ranger guided tour. As usual, we got so much more out of the visit because of the tour. The grounds are amazing. We never realized how much of the house contained original furniture.
Parking was easy ($4.00). The tour requires a timed ticket, available at the Ranger desk.

It was very interesting. If you have problems with stairs you won't be able to see the top. Our Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved seeing the way our President lived back then with his Family.

Enjoyed the video that was shown. Husband took the tour of the home while I walked our dog in the village. He really enjoyed the tour and the Lincoln impersonator who gave a speech before the tour began. Friendly staff working there.

Very informational visitor center. I had no idea I would be touring Lincoln's neighborhood. The pride for Lincoln is quite strong in Springfield, but the sense of community around him was a surprise. I think his is the first presidential residence that I have visited where the president had been a common fellow before his service and it shows here.

Tons of parking space in front of the site! It’s worth of spending 25min for the tour to Lincoln home! That’s the only way to get into the house. Reservations are needed and walk-in is fine

This Really blew us away, its like a miniature Williamsburg! Such a cool stop, I thought we'd just see the house and be done in an hour but you need much longer. There's a movie, the junior ranger program, a guided tour, and other buildings to explore. The gift shop is small but well stocked and everyone was friendly. Bathrooms are clean, and parking was easy. The house is really cool!! DO THIS.

What an amazing experience to be in Abe Lincoln's home. No cost tours and they have plenty of information about Lincoln and the property.

I never knew this existed until I was passing through Springfield. Not sure how that happened, lol. The tour is free and definitely informative! A must for anyone that loves our history.

Great place to learn about Lincoln. Staff was friendly and informative. They had two videos, one was good and the other just mediocre. Our kids did Junior Ranger and earned a badge (just a standard one with the park name), a sticker and a temporary tattoo. We enjoyed the tour of Lincoln's House and the two small museums they have on site.

One of my favorite Presidential homes that I’ve visited ! The area it’s in is very scenic and takes you back to older times. The Rangers were excellent and made the experience even greater. It’s wonderful when you get to see the home if someone so important in history. Well worth a road trip to Springfield to see!
