Portillo's Springfield

Stopped here while in Springfield, IL. Went through the drive through. You actually pay at the kiosk. They had 3 employees there taking orders and payment. He was very helpful. I asked a couple questions and they were answered perfectly. I ordered 2 hot dogs with ketchup. $10. Pulled up to the window and they brought my food out to me. Very delicious! Big beefy dog on a soft hot dog roll with poppy seeds on the outside. First time for everything and I liked it. Gave it a nice texture when you bite into it. Portillos also has burgers, sausage and chicken amongst other varieties of deliciousness to choose from. I would definitely recommend the hot dogs here. Enjoy!!

One of the best Portillo’s I’ve seen lots of really cool, route 66 memorabilia gas pump signs. The hot beef and cheese. No veggies with extra gravy was just perfect. The jumbo chili dog with onion again one of the best and lots of other good food will be back. Thank you for the great service.

The restaurant has route 66/ 50s dinner type theme. They had a sign for a drink that they didn't serve which I thought was weird. The staff was friendly enough. The menu had a good amount of selection that everyone should be able to fond something they like. The food was good. Between the four of us the cost per person averaged to $17.50 per meal.

We always have a good time here at Portillos. The service is great, and everything is always fresh. The order is always made quickly too. The Italian beef sandwich is my favorite. I always add cheese sauce to my sandwich too, to give it some extra pizzaz 😄 The cheese sauce is delicious.

Food - Cake shake and beef dip with fries. Absolutely delicious. Cake shake is huge. Beef dip is not very picturesque but who cares because it tastes amazing. Cheese dip is a must for the fries.

Service & atmosphere - quick service. Very casual and cute diner vibe.

Portillo’s is one of those places you want to eat at whenever come across one…Even if there are a ton of unique, local places around. As someone who doesn’t live near a Portillo’s, I always want to stop. I’ve turned other people into fans of Portillo’s as well. People who don’t think it’s exciting to go out for hotdogs or beef sandwiches have been converted to new long-term customers. These two items are so good, I don’t think I’ve ever ordered anything else…not even french fries(so I can save my appetite for them).

The Springfield, IL location met all the expectations as you can always find the same quality and taste whether you are at their original Chicago locations or some of their newer ones as they’ve expanded.

Sure, go eat at some cool local places but don’t forget to save room for a stop at Portillo’s!

Fell in love with this place in Chicago and am beyond ecstatic they are finally here in Michigan! I'm convinced you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The onion rings are crispy perfection and the Italian beef and sausage is my absolute favorite.
The Chicago hot dog is delicious as well!

If you dine in they play great music! Restaurant is super clean and well taken care of.

Highly recommend coming here and I hope they are here to stay!

Much more than just a a hot dog joint! Chicken sandwiches, hot beef sandwiches, Italian sausages, and great burgers... Just to name a few of the other options. You order at the counter and pick up your food at the opposite side of the counter. Typical quick service restaurant. You can watch your food being prepared by the team as you make your way to wait for your food. Staff has been pleasant and friendly every time we visit. Tables are quickly cleaned up and ready to go after people are done eating. Never had a problem finding a open table. So far the burgers and spicy chicken sandwiches are our favorite items on the menu.

Super cool place I got a chili cheese dog and a maxwell polish and they were great. My wife and daughter both got cheese burgers and they to where great tasting. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in springfield

Came here 9/7/2023 and was greeted very nicely at the counter. Was asked if we been here before and when we mentioned we haven’t we were treated like Queens.
The regular size Beef sandwich was juicy and delicious. The onion rings were the best I have ever had, would go there again just for the onion rings. Finished the meal with a slice of cake which was really good and moist.

The basic beef hot dog was good quality. It comes with large slices of tomatos, which was a bit odd, but they were good. The place had fast and friendly service. All the staff seemed up beat and enjoyed being there.
The sitting area is much larger than expected so you will always find an open table.

First time here with the wife. I had a couple hot dogs and fries. She had a cheeseburger and fries. Food was pretty good. The chocolate cake is really good. The downer was it was a bit pricey, but we will be back.

It's a Portillos! As a Chicagoland native, it warms my heart to have one of these in town. Makes me feel at home. It basically makes Springfield a farrrr south suburb of Chicago! Haha.

I appreciate that the decor for each Portillos has a unique flavor. They embrace the landmarks and style of whatever city they are in while still being unmistakably similar in their overall vibe.

It's a pretty skillful balance, and they do it very well.

Today was actually the first time I ate inside the place before this I had always done the drive up window The food was just as good in the restaurant as it was as the drive-thru

Service was very fast and the entire place and staff was like a well-oiled machine

The atmosphere though is a little bit of a surprise though probably mostly still due to the after effects of COVID but the place seemed to have almost no one inside The setup of the entire place though it was exactly as expected because it is after all a fast food place so it did have that vibe for that kind of thing Black painted retro industrial type looking ceiling all the napkins forks which were actually plastic in the middle of the room in the middle of the dining area
All in and all done it's what I've come to expect from in-house dining restaurants in the immediate post COVID era Right now it's not that great but it'll get better as time goes on

Such amazing food! Loved the rodeo burger, but the beef and cheddar croissant with hot peppers are still my favorite. Best ambiance! Very glad we decided to dine in! Excellent service! Very busy but definitely fast moving. Five stars across the board! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thanks y'all!! Oh, they sell beer too! 🍻

I will forever love Portillo's hot dogs but truly wish there was an option for plain buns with no poppy seed. I hadn't had a hot dog in a while and stopped on Friday. It was just so GOOD!

Worth the Hype! The Hot Italian Beef and lemon cake shake are a great combo. The inside of the restaurant was very clean. All employees at this location were friendly. Portillos has a great fast casual atmosphere!

A Chicago legend finally opens a location in the Mitten State--I no longer have to wait for my yearly fix in Chicagoland. The decor is interesting, the staff friendly, and the food prep is fast. Had a few good lunches here so far, and my waistline might have to be sacrificed for a slice of that cake one of these days.

Great atmosphere, great staff members and of course incredible food! Had the broiled chicken croissant that was awesome. Others had the big Italian beef and the portillos dogs all with the same review of great food and all of us will definitely be back soon to try other items on the menu! Don't let the long scary drive through line scare you. We came inside and enjoyed the cool decorations that are all over including the celing.

I had been to Portillo’s in Chicago. I had enjoyed the restaurant there. It is the epitome of what folks think a Chicago dog is. An all beef hotdog steamed, and served on a steamed poppyseed roll, with all the accoutrements: relish, mustard, celery salt, sport peppers, A quarter slice dill pickle, two half sliced tomatoes.

I was very excited to hear that Portillo‘s had opened up a Michigan Location not too far from me in Sterling Heights, in the lakeside mall outer parking ring! Today I had the time and took the drive out. This is the first restaurant Portillo’s opened in Michigan. The architecture and decor of this restaurant is something to behold! It is a modern looking building with an outdoor patio and a revolving door to get inside. Once inside, I felt like I was in a combination of Disneyland and a tribute to Detroit and it’s industrial past, present and future. There is memorabilia on every square inch of wall space and an old model T tow truck suspended from the ceiling overhanging the main dining room. There are assembly line tracks, pulleys, hooks, and racks of automobile accessories everywhere! You actually forgot that you were in a restaurant!

Oh yeah! Then there’s the food. I had the Chicago dog and fries. It was just like the Portillo‘s in Chicago. Authentic and amazingly delicious! There is also a dessert bar here! I saw somebody order a chocolate cake slice that looked like it was the size of Texas! LOL! They also have Italian beef sandwiches, chop salads, and burgers and all looked phenomenal! I can’t wait to come back and try everything! I say this: Come to Portillo’s just for the architecture and decor, stay for the food! Don’t miss this place!
