Verbena Eat Right Now

Cute place. Came all the way from Biddeford. We wanted soup and ended up with the quiche of the day. I'll be back next time I'm in town.

This is one of the most consistently great places to eat in the area, and I have never had a bad meal here. It is tasty, healthy, and friendly, with food that is creative and fairly priced, in a nice casual spot that is charming and pleasant.

Melissa, who owns the place, has ties with local farmers, and she is thoughtful about ingredients and packaging, so you can feel good about ordering from here. The menu has the right combination of stable and rotating, with fun specials and different soups and quiches (or you can get creative and add, say, pulled pork to a salad).

The sodas, lattes, and other beverages are homemade, exceptional, and modestly priced. Here you can really taste the pumpkin in the seasonal pumpkin spice latte, and there are many other great subtle spice and flavor touches that you will appreciate

In the summer months there are food specials based on what is available -- such as beets or parsnips -- and these dishes always work. The beef specials using beef from a local farmer are especially to be savored.

Although I like all kinds of food, quiche was not really on my radar before I started coming here, but the quiche + salad combination is always a winner.

Verbena is simply the best. The food is fresh & always yummy, the staff is exceptional, and the atmosphere is quaint and cozy! They offer plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options as well. I always look forward to grabbing lunch at Verbena!

Verbena's food and service is so amazing. I've eaten in the restaurant and Verbena did the catering for my wedding. The owner Melissa goes way above and beyond with helping and coordinating. Her attention to detail is fantastic, I have so many great things to say about our experiance. My wedding would have not happened with out Verbena and Melissa! We had vegetarians and gluten free guest and Verbena met all of our needs and our guest needs, but also looked and tasted fantastic. High quality food with a lot of taste! Highly recommend grabbing a sandwich in South Portland and highly recommend them for catering any event. Suburb all around!!!

It is great place to catch up with a girlfriend. Tin ceilings are not conducive for an intimate conversation, but the food and seating make it great for breakfast or brunch.They do coffee, the way I love it, and that accounts for the 5 stars.

I love hibiscus tea. Excellent service, fresh food and a very clean restaurant.

Quite a good vegan sandwich! Out of just a few places in the general area offering vegan food that they really make themselves, this was one of the best I've tried. A nice location in a wonderfully retro but vibrant feeling Knightsville (with a few outdoor tables to boot) adds to to the generally friendly and accommodating vibe.

Delicious lunch and dinner options for vegans and non-vegans! Highly recommend their creative dinner options which change on a weekly basis (currently only served Friday and Saturday). Inviting atmosphere with its friendly staff and owner/chef Melissa makes sure to greet you with a hello.

I love Verbena & have been coming here for years! Melissa & the staff are always super friendly & the menu is always changing with delicious local offerings & provide variety for vegan/vegetarian too. Highly recommend for lunch or breakfast, their homemade sodas are our favorites!!!

This is a very stressful time for small businesses, so please be kind and patient if they are out of something or ask you to wear a mask. It’s worth it!

Nice little neighborhood spot! Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and tasty sandwiches, quiche, and other quick dishes. Lots of healthy and delicious vegetarian options too. I enjoyed the grilled veggie sandwich. They also have house brewed iced tea and a couple coffee options. Again, nice place for quick eats or a casual chat with a friend.

Verbena is the best!!!! Their lattes are amazing (with super fresh rotating specials that are consistently awesome), their salads (and dressing!) are TO DIE FOR, and their quiche mmmm 😋. I haven’t tried anything that I didn’t LOVE. The owner is a wonderful person who remembers customers and all staff interactions are comfy & pleasant. Just do it ❤

The best chocolate brownies in all of greater Portland. They are dense, moist and super chocolatey. The chai latte is made from scratch with multiple spices, honey and black tea. It's so good it's addictive. There are vegan options, imaginative combinations of ingredients and serious recycling as well as tall ceilings and ample room for those worried about Covid.

Such an awesome place to grab a quick casual breakfast or lunch. The menu items are fresh and often locally sourced. Verbena is one of my first choices in the area for great food. The chicken salad is always a crowd favorite!

We ordered Verbena catering for Christmas and we were *so* excited they had a vegan offering! The food was delicious and beautifully prepared and the customer service was above and beyond. We'll definitely be returning!
