Po' Boys & Pickles

Portland, Maine’s Best sandwich/wrap shop of 2023 Po' Boys & Pickles is the real deal! The authentic Creole New Orleans' flavors are on point. Counter service was fast and friendly. The Blackened fish sandwich($15) is not to be missed! The sandwich is dressed with Cajun Cole slaw, sliced tomato and red pepper mayo. This is a huge sandwich, easily shareable and absolutely delicious!! The bread is from Leidenheimer Bakery, New Orleans. Founded in 1896, Leidenheimer's is the last of the old-school Po' boy bakeries. Po' Boys & Pickles has made the commitment to using the best bread and most authentic ingredients in all of their Po' boys and sandwiches. Truly an homage to New Orleans!! You can taste the goodness in every bite. The perfect accompaniment was a basket of sweet potato fries($6).
The fries were perfectly crisp, not greasy, plentiful and delicious. Great quality, inexpensive dining experience!! I love this place and you will too! Highly recommend.

Gumbo was very yummy comparable to other high priced Cajun food in the area. The dining room is small but clean and employees were professional and courteous. Will be going back! The Maine root Ginger brew pairs nicely with the Gumbo!

Probably the best fried shrimp I've ever had, perfectly complimented by the rest of the sandwich. Don't miss this place!!!

Love this place, food is always great, employees are awesome, and it's a nice cozy little place.

The Good:
Wide variety of sandwiches which are quite tasty. Love the staff, prompt and friendly.

The Meh:
The have sit down and take out, but you won't stay for the atmosphere or anything. Kind of average / small parking lot. Prices are above average.

The Bad:
None.

The fried onions might just be one of the best things I've ever had in my life.

Enjoying a New Orleans Louisiana taste here in Portland. The Peacemaker is a must have and the fried onions rings are huge portion of onion! That's what I like!!!

I got the atomic patty melt and holy cow it was tasty! The mix of sweet bacon jam and spicy jalapeños was perfection. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was really nice especially for an ordering at the counter place.

Really good prices, and great atmosphere and look at that menu. It kind of speaks for itself.

Quick service, great employees, clean store and the food...worth the drive from Bangor. Ordered the peacemaker and the fried seafood was on point! Everything tastes fresh and delicious!

Picked up a Fried Shrimp Po' Boy after work. It's always a delicious choice and generous serving size.

Pretty great Louisiana inspired sandwiches from way up north. Compliments especially on the fried pickles and the shrimp and oyster items. Debris gravy could use some more oomph. Nice bread.

Been coming here occasionally for years, always got the Reuben which is the best one I've had in Maine, but tonight I tried the cheeseburger po'boy and it was fantastic. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Portland area. Thank you so much for being awesome!

Ordered the fried oyster po’ boy, was not disappointed. Seems easy to make but fried seafood is tricky - having it hot, not overcooked, etc by time customer is eating it. Due to covid we had minimal interaction with the staff but they were plenty friendly. I’ve already recommended this place a couple of times since my first visit a month ago. Great quick lunch option if you’re in Portland!

Stopped in tonight (8/27/21) about 6pm. I just got into town on a plane from Oregon 2 days ago. The girl running the counter was sweet. She welcomed me to Portland, and was quite bubbly and chatty. In a good way. It didn't seem fake or put on. I got The Cheeseburger Poboy. It was a fine sammich. I will be back to try many more. The Pickles were great,will get extra next time. I saw they had Homemade Doughnut Holes, ill be trying those too. Oh,and Wings. 😏

Love a good Uptown. Been a customer at this spot for years now, never disappointed
