This is an amazing breakfast spot. Their blue berry pancakes are a great Maine staple. Also my wife loved the lobster Benedict. The waiter was extremely helpful and wanted to make sure we had exactly what we wanted and was attentive. The only downside is the seating. We got there early with no issue, but as we were leaving there was a long wait to be seated. If you have hangry members in your party this may not be the best spot.

Incredibly delicious and pleasant breakfast. The bayside scramble was phenomenal. Super balanced flavors and came with impressive potatoes and a huge 1 inch thick slice of toast. They make two homemade hot sauces too! The blueberry and chocolate chip pancake was a star - not too sweet, perfectly soft, drizzled in syrup. The maple sausage was also great. Iced coffee was fine. Love this place!

My wife and I waited about an hour and a half but definitely worth the wait. We were greeted and got queued in the waiting line right away. You can also see online how long you've been waiting and when you'll be seated from a link they give you. The atmosphere upon entering is I guess you can say old fashion but nice. The staff was very friendly and fast though it was very busy they had things under control. The food tasted great! Good portions as well. Would definitely come back if I was in the area again!

We visited in November 2023 from Iowa and I’m an old Texas fella. Hands down not close by a mile, the best crab Benedict EVER!!! The hollandaise was sooooo awesome, I could have drank it all and bathed in it and the crab was so fresh. The place was was wonderful.

Bayside American cafe is my favorite spot for brunch in Portland! The food is to die for, I love the scrambled eggs loaded with veggies and the hash browns. Everything is fresh and they are happy to accommodate food allergies. The staff has always been friendly, despite how busy it can get! I recommend going on a week day if you can, it’s a small place and gets packed quick.

My hubby and I love this spot! It has a cozy and comfortable vibe and the staff are always friendly and happy to take care of you. We typically get blueberry pancakes (which are HUGE) and a build-your-own omelet which comes with a side of their amazing sweet potato home fries. But we’ve had several of the eggs benedict dishes, French toast, and tried options off of their rotating specials menu. The food never disappoints and always fills you (often times I have to take leftovers home with me).

Well worth the wait. The lobster scramble with homemade toast was simply divine. And the mimosa was just the added touch my brunch needed. And the pancakes are huge and fabulous. Try the savory bacon scallion with the bourbon maple syrup - you won't regret it.

Great service, tasty coffee (from coffee by design) and delicious classic eggs Benedict! A must visit if you’re looking for breakfast, brunch or lunch in Portland. While I didn’t get a cocktail they also have a robust list for those wishing to imbibe.

On of the best breakfasts I had in a while!

Lobster scramble with goat cheese is literally a masterpiece! I’m going to be honest, bread piece was too big, but the eggs and lobster were great. My husband got corn beef hash Benedict, and flavors in his plate were also A+!

Cappuccino was ok but my husbands Bloody Mary was was amazing! Overall with the amazing food and good rough morning drinks this place is a 5/5! Highly recommend!

Good brunch experience with traditional and diverse dining options for the meal. Choices of drinks also feature both novelty and familiarity if you want something comfortable or adventurous. Look to specials for nice twists to the featured options. Hot sauces are homemade with a nice kick, verde or naranja. Would recommend!

Very cute and cozy old-timey resteraunt. Upstairs bar with dining room. Breakfast was fantastic though pricey. Two entrees with juice and coffee ended up being $60. Would come back for an occasion, lots of cute cocktails on the menu.

The host who greeted us and sat is reminds me of Roy Kent from Ted lasso. If you know, you know 😂.

Waitress super friendly gave us some recommendations. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and my wife got the my style french toast. Delicious. Nice sized portions. I would recommend this place highly for breakfast/brunch

I would go as far as to say this was the best brunch I have ever had. WELL worth the wait. We had the cinnamon bun pancake (kids size and it was huge), Strawberry Cheesecake French toast, and one of the scrambles. Everything was phenomenal. The cream cheese frosting on the French toast and pancakes was the best thing I have ever tasted. Highly highly recommend!

Stopped in to Bayside American Cafe on my last day in Portland. What an excellent way to end the trip. I was initially thrown off by the surrounding neighborhood being a bit sketchy, but I found the atmosphere warm and inviting. I was immediately welcomed when I arrived by staff and seated upstairs. I ordered a Mimosa to start and a coffee. The mimosa was great and the coffee was strong. What I enjoyed most about my visit was that our waiter actually tasted the food. I find it excellent when I visit an establishment where the staff can make recommendations based on having previously tasted the menu. Our waiter recommended the Lobster scramble and cinnamon roll pancake. I can understand why the pancake is the most popular, I enjoyed it but found it a bit thicker than I typically like my pancakes. It was very delicious and not overly sweet. The Lobster scramble on the other hand was AMAZING! The goat cheese mixed with the fresh lobster went so very well together and that homemade wheat bread has a nice subtle sweetness. I can’t wait to come back to Portland and stop by for another meal.

Wow! Truly incredible food, fantastic service, and a fun but cozy atmosphere. I am so impressed with how good the food and coffee is here. We ordered the lobster benedict (truly amazing) and the house made corn beef hash. The breakfast potatoes are top tier and the toast, oh my god. Clearly freshly baked! I’m so glad we incorporated this spot into our vacation itinerary.

Best crab cake benedict of my life. Ice latte was creamy and smooth, so good.

Staff members were friendly and attentive at this family owned establishment. They have 2 levels of seating, 2 all gender bathrooms on the first floor, and some outdoor seating on the second floor. They also have highchairs. We had the Louisiana bayou benedict and the house smoked salmon plate. Our waitress said the crab cake Benedict is really popular, too. Be mindful that the smoked salmon plate is not lox; however the salmon we had was a touch dry. Bourbon smash cocktail was also delicious (they ran out of the blueberry puree and the waitress offered us a substitute strawberry puree).

Overall, I would come back to try some of their other offerings.

Great brunch, HUGE portions! Large selection and a great, diverse menu! They have a great variety of sweet and savory— something for everyone! Make sure you share some plates, or pancake or French toast or other goodies! Bayside has been on my list for a while and I’m glad I finally went! The staff is friendly and attentive. Parking is not available, so plan ahead!! I don’t believe they take reservations, so be prepared to wait on the weekend.

I hadn't been to this place in years, but it did not disappoint! The food was still delicious and we made sure to get there early to get seated quickly. It was a great place to bring our toddler as well. Everyone was so friendly!

Cutest, coziest, comfiest breakfast spot! Always a little wait, always worth it. We got a breakfast sandwich and a scramble, then split a cinnamon bun pancake which was MASSIVE. We appreciated the fact they were able to make some substitutions for us, no problem at all. I definitely love that they use local vendors like Rose foods for bagels. We'll be back for sure!
