I had a wonderful first experience at Capitol Guitars today. Their selection was wonderful, and the service was fantastic. I came in looking to try a rare Gretsch that I had been researching for months online, and they helped me plug the guitar into a nice amp on the sales floor. I played for a while and noticed the guitar's intonation seemed off. I let their guitar tech know about the issue, and he promptly set up the guitar - I mean he actually SET UP the guitar! After the quick set up, not only was the intonation issue fixed, but the guitar played better than any guitar I had EVER played! Simply amazing - and what fun to play! I bought the guitar and couldn't be happier! Thanks, Capitol Guitars!

Great store with great staff. Very experienced and knowledgeable as well. If they don't know or can't help, they WILL point you in the right direction.

Went looking for a new bass, didn't have quite what I was looking for but service was great and I was able to try out a few instruments.

I didn't want 6 humbucker screws and springs, which Amazon was offering. I didn't want to pay $12 shipping for one screw another online vendor offered. These guys hooked me up. I walked in, asked for one humbucker screw. Rob (I think) reached into his little box, handed me 1 screw. I made sure it fit. They asked for $1, I gave them a $5. I look forward to seeing them again. Good guys in there.

Definitely would recommend dealing with these guys. They answered all my questions and hooked it up big time!

BEST GUITAR SHOP IN MINNESOTA
Being really unhappy how I've been treated by the "big" and "boutique" shops over the past two years I recently brought Capital Guitars a guitar to repair as an experiment, hoping for the best. Rob, the guitar tech, was AWESOME to work with. I've had guitar repair work done by five of the "best in Minneapolis/St. Paul" shops over the past two years and NONE of them compare to Rob's work. He's the best. While I was talking to Rob about my guitar the owner came to the counter and for 45 minutes we had the best conversation about guitars. For me, this is the only place I'll take my guitars. From beginner to pro this should be your first stop if you want to buy a guitar or have it repaired.
PS: Rob's custom built guitars are where family legacy stories come from. They are magical, inspiring and unforgettable. Once upon a time Rob built me a guitar.

I made an online purchase, but shortly after arriving at the store I decided to go with a different guitar. Taylor placed the order with their supplier and before long my next new electric guitar had arrived. The guitar was then checked for setup, and after, Taylor then drove across the Twin Cities to deliver my new guitar.

I purchased a used guitar from an online retailer, and it ended up needing a little bit of work when it arrived. The guys at Capitol Guitar took a look at it and fixed the small electrical issue while I waited. Problem was fixed quickly, cheaply, and correctly. They have lots of cool and unique gear to browse through as well. Great shop!

I've lived in the Twin Cities for about 10 years, and this is my favorite music shop in the area. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the prices are very reasonable. I've had particularly good experiences having them set up and repair instruments. Support your local music stores!

I recently ordered a new Mesa Boogie California Tweed. I live in Northern Minnesota and worked with Eric over the phone. Excellent experience and very professional. He probably spent a good 40 minutes with me over the phone. Very knowledgeable and friendly. I'd highly recommend working with these guys!

Rob set up my esp m-ii for me and I am blown away by how much better it plays since he worked on it. Great staff, I love how much evh gear they have. Best shop in Minnesota hands down.

This is my favorite guitar store. Staff is very helpful, good selection of new and used. Their service department is capable and reasonably priced. They do lessons, too. Instructors are also very good. I have nothing but good things to say about Capitol Guitars.

When I was first looking at getting into bass, and later, guitar, this is exactly the kind of local guitar shop I was hoping to find. Everyone I've dealt with there has always been very personable, down to earth, helpful and generous. They may be a business, but in my experience their passion for playing and making music along with helping others who share that passion has always held equal if not greater importance than making money. I really couldn't recommend them more highly, definitely worth going a bit out of your way for the amazing customer service. Thank you guys!

Great selection of amps and guitars. Priced well for the condition of gear they have, which is really good, btw. Lots of nice new gear and used as well. Knowledgeable staff that doesn't "hover" over you, also a plus. As a seasoned musician, I dig this place! Thanks y'all!
