Started as a patient here because of insurance. This is a pretty traditional, no-nonsense dental practice.
When our coverage changed, we tried a different dentist closer to home, with newer equipment and TVs at each chair, etc. They just weren't as GOOD, and now we're back.
This practice doesn't say you need a cap when a filling will do. They're not going to try the most extreme treatment first.
And, if you end up with a balance of like $30 due, they're not the one calling 4 times a week and threatening to send to collections (like the other one I went to).
This practice has improved, and they are great with my kids.

I came from a dentist that would upsell to me. For example, when I was younger, I had one cavity and while on the chair about to get it filled, my past dentist would say "oh look, there's a spot on the tooth next to it, let's get it while we are here." I thought that was odd, so I said no and decided to switch dentists and came to Geauga Family Dental.

Since going to Geauga Family Dental, I have not had a cavity, and the tooth the past dentist said I had a "spot" on wasn't anything at all. The staff has always been friendly at Geauga Family Dental and I have been coming for 5+ years. It's easy to schedule an appointment and their office is welcoming. I trust them as my dentist.

retired I went to Dr. Jon. I am happpy I did eventhough his office

I have been going to this office for years now, and have never had an issue. I've also recommended them to people looking for a dentist.

I have been going to this office for well over ten years and within the last three to four years there has been a significant change. The levels of professionalism has declined. I Constantly receive bills after every service when they should be billed to the insurance company. Our appointments have been canceled, rescheduled or not scheduled correctly. No one takes ownership for their actions. Clients are treated POORLY here. I would not Refer anyone to this office.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE My daughter had a filling done here and when she went back a few weeks later, because it was still hurting, she found out the Dr. drilled to close to the nerve and now she needs a root canal. Also, I have had them cancel several apt. For my daughters and they dont call until the day of. Then they are very rude about reschedulling

Please do not go to this dentist if you can avoid it. I had several fillings done here. Probably around 5 or 6. The dentist’s hands shake CONSTANTLY. I’m not sure if he has Parkinson’s or what? But he needs to retire. His hands shake during the entire procedure and especially when giving injections. He had to do the injections multiple times because he kept missing the correct spot. Which caused me a lot of pain. One of the fillings he did fell out a week later and he had to redo it. That one is currently breaking down in my mouth now and will have to be redone again. All 5 of the other fillings did ended up breaking down and had to be replaced a year later. Of course by a different dentist. But it costed me hundreds of dollars to have them repaired. He doesn’t talk much or explain any of the work he is doing. Also you should expect 90% of the water, toothpaste, rinse etc. that is supposed to go in your mouth to end up on your shirt. Again please just do yourself a favor and don’t go here. You’ll avoid a lot of pain, frustration and loss of money.

This is the absolute worst dentist out there. DO NOT GO HERE!!! My fiancĂ© went here to get a filling and all they did was drilled her tooth and left it. She didn’t notice it until she was going home and had to go back. They put a tiny filling in that didn’t even cover the tooth the destroyed. She now has to go somewhere else to get it redone as she has a gaping chip in her tooth which is quite sharp Becuase this office doesn’t have the knowledge and is too ignorant to understand what is going in clearly. WHATEVER YOU DO, GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE. You could do a better job yourself at home than the butchers here can.

They take Medicaid, but I hope you like pain, and don't wear your nice shirt.

The plus side is that they prescribed Norco for pain as apposed to Motrin which is just ibuprofen (Advil). Why bother dealing with prescription Motrin at 800mg per tablet when you can buy it OTC?

At any rate, the Norco works good, but they provided 20 tablets which is a 5 day supply as per the dosage instructions, and the appointment was 20 days away. The dose as per recommended was 1 tablet every 4-6 hours. If you are in enough pain to take one every 6 hours, that is 4 tablets per day. 20 / 4 = 5 day supply. So don't expect to get more than 1/4th the pain meds you need to get by. If you are someone like me, you might find ibuprofen (Motrin and Advil) and acetaminophen (Tylenol) or even aspirin (Bayer) do almost nothing at any dose. So being prescribed something that does work is important.

Now, as for the treatment and facility:
They barely have an adequate facility, due to sub par cleanliness and bad habits which promotes cross contamination. The equipment obviously needed cleaning, equipment had various substances and toothpaste-like crud needing washed off and sanitized, and the nurse assisting the doctor repeatedly used her gloved hand to shove trash down in a overfull waste bin and didn't change her gloves before touching the patient or handling other equipment. She might sanitize everything after we left, but what you see is generally a hint at what you don't see.

As for the doctor...
I don't know the name of which doctor did the treatment, but I wouldn't trust him to do more than pulling teeth. And I wouldn't trust him to do any injections or incisions. His hands constantly shake, and not just a little bit. I have given and received enough injections to know if I don't feel my hands are calm and steady, I don't want to be the one to do it unless I cannot delegate it. His hands were shaking so bad he undoubtedly made the injections a lot more painful than they need to be. I have had fillings, root canals, crowns, and wisdom teeth pulled, all 100% conscious with local anesthetics. The most painful part of any of these procedures are the numbing injections. They hurt at the beginning, more if you don't have a steady hand, and when the numbing wears off, that injection is still very painful, and a lot more so if you have shaking hands. Generally speaking, the same is true for incisions (cutting). I'm willing to bet he has early stages of Parkinson's disease.

Additionally:
Post care cleanup was abysmal. The patient still had blood on her cheeks, smeared streaks from where she failed to wipe up the patient properly, and blood stains on the shoulder of the patient's white shirt.

So, unless you really don't have an option, call around to as many other facilities as you can. Driving an extra hour or two might be a lot better.

I've honestly have been to veterinarian facilities I'd prefer to have do my dental work.
