I came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was not as crowded as you’d think. The pub is right along the beach. It’s kids friendly and lots of parking. The food was phenomenal!! I ordered the clam chowder and fried oysters (half portion). The prices and portion size was appropriate which was surprising for such good quality and taste. I’d 10/10 highly recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood.

Delicious seafood on the water. The seafood platter was just what I needed, my wife's crab cake sandwich was fantastic, and our kids loved their burgers. Even the local hazy beer was perfect. We'll be back!

Nestled on the York River, this pub gives off a wonderful local vibe with good beer and seafood. If you love fried food definitely try the fried seafood here.

Thank you, Yorktown Pub, for a lovely Date-nite Tuesday out with the hubby...

We really enjoyed your wonderful Tavern for some tasty food & drink after a beach walk.
The seafood platter was slamming! and the peanut butter & chocolate cake was absolutely delish!

We rated your establishment 5 stars because your Pub has that friendly O'l Maritime nostalgic atmosphere and beachside experience. 'Great for any occasion of celebrations, and / or romantic Date-nite out with love one's...😍

Great food for the price. Not many other restaurants in this area but reviews were decent so decided to give it a try while visiting Yorktown visitor center and battlefield. The drinks were good, decently priced and good selection of bourbon. The clam chowder on a cold day was PERFECT. Staff was friendly despite how busy they were that afternoon.

Large portions, food was fresh & tasted great! The wait staff was hustling but stayed on top of everything. Inside was refreshingly cool considering it was oppressively hot outside. We had the raw oysters on the half shell, jumbo fried shrimp, fried oyster sandwich & crab dip. We will definitely go there again!!

Always good food and service. Atmosphere was very festive and fun decor for the holidays. We always enjoy coming here. The crab dip appetizer was divine! First time we tried that one. Well definitely be back.

Great sea food and the beer looked even better. I Do not drink. Service great with the order and refills. Atmosphere loud when full and table are tight but friendly. Nevertheless it was a great experience

first time ever been in the area Newport News is a very interesting place to hang out and eat right here on the beach was really awesome we decided because there was no parking to park at Yorktown park and eat there the atmosphere was pretty good chairs were so close to each other that people coming in and out would bump into your back or push you so that was a little irritating TV sets everywhere with the fight on and was very entertaining if you drink there was plenty of alcohol to be had if you don’t drink like us everything was no problem wasn’t like it was some kind of crazy discotheque or something like that real neat that it’s right here on the beach. Food was good drinks were good everyone had a great time great meal

We loved the room, great public house atmosphere. The food we had was simple and well made. We're a bit tired of places that are "trying too hard." It is a great location with a view of the beach.

Edit: My old review (below) was not for the Yorktown Pub. This was actually my first time here and I really enjoyed it. Smaller than I envisioned, and I could see how it might get very busy on warm weekends. We sat at the bar and had an appetizer and two entrees. We had the hush puppies as a appetizer and they were very good. I had a Bacon cheeseburger and it was delicious. The Reuben was very good too.

Old info:

We were here the Sunday of the Trump Parade in the York River and it was a fun day. First time in Yorktown and we got a nice table in the shade and could watch the boat parade while we ate. We had the appetizer pretzel, a little pricey at $12. I had their big burger on the dual grilled cheeses, and it was tasty. Wouldn't get it again though, it was a bit much. The drinks were good, I had an orange crush and enjoyed it.

New England clam chowder - sooo good! My husband had the prime rib sandwich. Cooked exactly how he wanted it, tender as prime rib should be, a very satisfying sandwich. I had a half order of fried shrimp. Right off I could tell the quality of the shrimp. We have added this as a "go to" when we're in the area!

An old fashioned and very nice restaurant next to the York river.

We went there during Sunday’s noon. There were many people waiting outside. It was about 15 minutes of waiting time to get in.

The portion of each dish/ appetizer was big.

Fired mushrooms: highly recommended! The mushrooms were very juicy under the crunchy shell.

Crab dip: It is very creamy. You may see big clumps of crab meat. Very delicious!

Fresh York river oysters: they were so so. Nothing special.

Fired fresh fish of the day: the portion is large. Fish was juicy, fresh and tasty and the shell was crunchy. Highly recommended.

South of the border nachos: it was good. Nothing special to mention.

Salmon fish tacos: delicious! Highly recommended!

We ordered cocktails as well. They were OK but not impressive.

What a great spot along the york River!

The staff was very nice and attentive

The food was very reasonably priced, and absolutely delicious. I had to try the chili, and im glad I did; it didnt disappoint. very good! My wife ordered the seafood gumbo, and said the same. We both also ordered grilled cheese and potato skins. A great lunch, for a good price, in a wonderful setting

I highly recommend

Small place with a very elcetic interior. Food was great with high marks for the oyster sandwich. Fries were cooked to perfection, nice and crispy with great texture. We had been to Water Street Grille during our last visit. It was nice to, however Yorktown Pubs food was equally as good with better pricing and larger portions.

This place has a very sentimental meaning to me. Back in early 2000, I used to come here with my good friends, I met my now husband here, and I love love looove the oyster sandwich (still) and the fried scallop sandwich (seasonal). Heck, the food is great, period! I've never had a bad meal. A bad drink, or received bad service here. The view is gorgeous, and it's great for families because after dinner or lunch, you can walk the waterfront.

Samira was our waitress and she was amazing and super sweet. The food was outstanding and we know a little something about seafood being from south Alabama and Florida. Great atmosphere and view of the beach. Ten stars if I could do it.

Very popular place to stop along Water Street in Historic Yorktown. Well stocked bar and wide food selection with specials offered. Service and food was outstanding and staff was attentive despite being so busy. This is more like a sports bars and the dishes are pretty traditional however, everything is fresh, made to order and high quality. Definitely worth your time to check out if in the area while visiting the colonial sites, the beach area or just because you want good food.
