Absolutely love this cafe! The food and coffee are great, especially their pastries and cardamom coffee latte. The service is pretty fast, which is perfect when you're on a tight schedule.
The layout is quirky and interesting, but I think it adds to the charm of the place. Despite it being constantly busy, there's always a nook available for working or catching up with friends. It's become my go-to spot for work. Highly recommend!

Nestled in the heart of the neighborhood, this local cafe is a true haven for coffee enthusiasts. The coffee here is more than just a drink; it's a flavorful journey that captivates the taste buds with its richness and well-balanced blend. The ambiance is nothing short of excellent, providing a cozy retreat from the hustle and bustle outside. With warm tones and comfortable seating, it's an ideal spot for both solitude and socializing.

The star of the show, however, is undoubtedly the pastries. Each bite reveals a symphony of flavors, from buttery croissants to decadent cakes. Despite its unassuming menu, the simplicity is a testament to the focus on quality. Every item, though straightforward, is a culinary masterpiece.

The cafe's charm lies in its commitment to delivering a memorable experience through exceptional coffee, inviting surroundings, and delectable pastries. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or just seeking a delightful treat, this establishment is a must-visit. In a world of complexity, this local gem thrives on the simplicity of great coffee, excellent ambiance, and delicious pastries, making it a highly recommended destination for anyone with a penchant for quality and comfort.

Delicious and authentic espresso and tea. The sizes are smaller than commercial coffee chains but the taste is way better. I recommend the Marocchino (this is a smaller mocha drink) and I also tried the seasonal spiced orange espresso latte. Both were delicious. Much larger on the inside of the building then it appears as well. There is a parking lot behind the building.

My first impression, RB struck me as a bit of an old-school 1960s hippie-style coffee shops working to exude a laid-back and bohemian atmosphere. There are a few plants at RB, not the abundance of plants in hand thrown clay pots and macrame that created a lush and earthy ambiance of the hippie spots. RB does have severely worn terrazzo floors reminiscent of the worn, rustic floors and eclectic decor that added to vintage charm in the old-school spots. These coffee shops prioritize a relaxed vibe, encouraging patrons to linger and enjoy their time; I think RB does that.

When it comes to their offerings, these places are known for their genuine commitment to quality. They take pastry making and coffee brewing seriously, using premium ingredients and methods. The result is a menu filled with delectable pastries and meticulously brewed coffee that reflects the care and dedication of the era's counterculture movement. Overall, these coffee shops provide a unique blend of nostalgia, tranquility, and culinary excellence, imo.

Rare bird is my absolute favorite local coffee shop the best matcha, croissants, and pour overs. They have such kind owners and the pastries and coffee are delicious. I have been coming here for 4 years and they're always bringing in new fun treats, new roasts, and new plants. They've expanded quite a bit so it's a bit easier to get a table during the week. Weekends are pretty hectic, but the line moves quickly. It's nice to see how popular they are, really love to see a local business succeeding!

Love this coffee shop. Variety in both coffee and food options. Seating options may be limited, especially during prime time, and because of this it can get loud. If you’re looking for the cafe vibes and a hustling backdrop, this is the right place. (Poorly) Pictured is the roasted tomato and egg biscuit (highly recommend). This + chai latte makes my morning!

First of all, the coffee is delicious, I ordered a Cortado and my wife a Cardmam vanilla latte, and both are delicious. For sandwiches, I ordered a bacon, egg, cheese, and herb egg white sandwich. It was nice to have a lot of clean and small flower pots. It is a place I want to visit again next time.

Highly recommend this coffee shop. I always try out a new coffee shop on the weekends. This location was super busy and parking was difficult but it was Saturday so to be expected. The food looked great, especially the croissant and pastries. I liked that there were unique coffee flavors. I ordered a butterscotch latte, which was the perfect hint of sweet. I love mildly sweet with undertones of flavor (I want to be able to taste the coffee and not be hit with sugar) which is exactly what I got. They had a strawberry latte that I wanted to try but they were already sold out at 10:30am. I will have to come back for one! Coffee was about $7 which is on the higher end for me personally. There is plenty of seating for single and groups. They also have outlets for charging and bathrooms for customers. The shop has large windows to let the light in and propagations of greenery everywhere. I will definitely be back to try out more items on the menu!

Love the Bird! Open, airy café, with lots of seating. Delicious coffee. I had a cardamom vanilla latte, which was beautifully presented and tastes delicious. Espresso is smooth, not bitter.

March 2024. Here again. Butterscotch latte was subtle and lovely. The buckwheat scone didn’t have a lot of flavor, TBH. Calm, lovely atmosphere at Rare Bird.

Wonderful little coffee shop in the heart of Falls Church. Parking can be tough during busy times but with their back entrance, it makes it easy to enter there. For handicapped however, they still need to enter through the front since the back stairs can be uneven and slick in the rain.

Food is tasty and has unique flavours like Zaatar and brie, and a Canale made from evaporated milk so it has a delicious crunchy exterior.

They have a wonderful variety of drink whether you are a coffee or tea person. Plus they roast they're own beans and have a wide selection to choose from. Highly recommended!

Absolutely LOVED this café! The owner and staff are very friendly and care about the quality of the drinks and pastries. The clear glass walls bring natural light into the café, which brightened my day. The artworks are also interesting to look at. Highly recommended 👍🏻

Quality is GREAT… Lines are long which says a lot about how good they are. Love when you come in there’s that whiff of freshly roasted coffee 🫠😍 they do have a lot of seating but they were all occupied when I came on Monday morning around 9:30.

The MOST delightful cafe! Was in the area for lunch but couldn’t take my eyes off this sun drenched cafe so had to visit after lunch. It was an amazing time! I sat in the cafe, photosynthesizing with all the plants that decorate the interior, and feel that it cured my winter blues. My only wish is that I lived closer.

A favorite spot when passing through Falls Church. Spacious, lots of windows, great place to fire up the laptop with a cappuccino. And a nicer vibe than at the nearby larger options.

Rare Bird does not miss with the quality of coffee at all. They have a stylish, well-maintained Strada and a great selection of coffees. Love the naturals every time. Some really great, thoughtfully designed, locally thrown drinkware. It's a serious gem.
